The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Excellent. Home advisor makes a complicated process it simple and easy.
Website was easy to use... several providers reached out very quickly - all were professional
I've been with Home Advisor since 2016. I have stayed with them in hopes they make changes to their company.
Instead they charge me even when my leads are turned off! At first they told free it was a system glitch.
The second time this happened in two weeks is awful. I have realized they charge people even when leads are "turned off."
This is not right and is dishonest and is not trust worthy. Contractors check your account because if you don't catch it you will be charged.
I have posted two pictures of my leads being turned off at 12:00 AM
THEY CHARGED ME AT 4 PM (same day).

Booked a moving out clean two weeks in advance. They cancelled on the day, but promised to come on Monday (so I didn't book anything else). Then they didn't come on Monday either and now it is too late.
They are not reliable!
I was am very disappointed in the house cleaning service I received through Homeadvisers powered by Angi. I originally booked two dates but cancelled the second. Reasons: 1) Female cleaning associate never contacted me, like they said she would. 2) A young male showed up to clean my house. 3) He was pleasant but very inexperienced in cleaning a house 4) The vacuum he was going to use was full of pet hair so I offerred him to use mine. 5) Bathroom was still dirty after he cleaned 6) My hardwood floors were wet mopped. I had to soak up the water with paper towels. Streaks everywhere. I ended up cleaning floors again. 7) He dusted around things on dressers, end tables, etc rather than picking up the item, dusting it and the surface. You could see were he dusted and where he missed. I was so excited to have found a reputable cleaning service only to have it end up with disappointment. I now have to hire another cleaning person to clean what he did not. I will not go through Angi's list again for cleaning.
They really help me out. And I saved money in the process.
I only I knew I successfully connected with a pro if they called me. Very confusing thus stopped using for other jobs.
Easy to use and navigate. Very well put together with great search engines to pair up the proper contractor with your job.
He was responding to my inquiry within minutes we scheduled a very timely appointment he was on time and communicative on what he was doing he was proficient at his job I'm very pleased
My tankless hot water was not working. I had no hot water. This was Saturday afternoon.
One company was able come within 20 hours and had no service charge.
The second company scheduled 48-50 hours out and there was a $49 travel fee that would be applied to service if I used their company.
The third company scheduled 32 hours out and there was a trip charge of $99 trip charge.
Obviously, I went with the first company and they were great. I gave them a 5 star rating.
Minimal disruption, uses minimal amount of water, professional, courteous service.
I found a good company through Home Advisor to power wash my exterior perma stone wall. This company was professional, friendly and the charge was reasonable.
It was simple and easy the owner of a bright restoration made things very easy for me.
Very helpful finding me the right person for the right service i eeded. Thanks so much for helping. Ill use this site again
We were provided with 4 possible choices. Nice to have quality companies recommended.
Home advisor and angi's list are great and super useful when doing home improvements and home repairs.
This JJ guy came gave an estimate said he'd come on saturday... never showed up
Called him said he was out of town, but he never called to notify me he was not coming
I asked him if that's the way he does business... HE HUNG UP ON ME
I called back but he doesn't answer... INCOMPETENCE
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
