I am as liberal as it comes, but I am very disappointed with Healthcare.gov.

My dad lost his employment and hence his insurance. My mom is a homemaker. They are both 65, however, he has only worked in the US for 7 years only, so medicare and medicaid refused to cover them.

So, we tried to sign him up at Healthcare.gov MarketPlace.

First 80% is like TurboTax wizard, very clear and easy. The end part, which is basically selecting and starting the coverage is extremely confusing. It's like lawyers and/or software engineers wrote to make it extremely confusing to use. So, we ended up signing for wrong dental coverage.

You cannot cancel just the dental coverage, even though the coverage begins next month. You cannot cancel on the web; you have to call. The wait time is 30 mins (of course like DMV). The customer support are probably ex-Comcast support people- the worst human being- rude and does not answer any questions, questions as simple as when does the cancellation take into effect. Reads out of scripts. Instead of answering questions, just ask me yes/no questions which are totally irrelevant. No empathy.

I am starting to feel that the government cannot make efficient programs, even in this day and age :/

Cannot get 1095A form!
February 24, 2016

We have called repeatedly to have this form sent to us.We would really like to have it before April 15th!
The web site does not except our account number and will not let us in. When we call we are told the login and account number have been reset, it is not. This has been going on for a year! These people are complete incompetents!
We paid every month for healthcare, Meritus, but the ACA only has us paying for 6 months! Meritus is not paying for medical care, lab tests and such that they said they would in writing when we signed up with them. We now worry that United Healthcare will screw us up next year too.
We had high hopes for this working. We are wasting our money.

I have no health insurance now and am now age 60 on disability, yet cannot go to the doctor because of making a mistake while signing up for this year's coverage with the same insurance company! It is inexcusable in the USA to be fined for not being able to pay a high rate. Healthcare.gov has no sense of human error in signing up for a policy that is useless to the insured. The insurance company was exceptional and together we tried to keep my plan from last year even though the premium went from $22 to $117 per month. Just because a mistake was made in choosing plans, I was not allowed to correct my choice. I will be on disability Medicare May 1, yet will be unable to pay for insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor supplies that are needed now because of having hypoglycemic unawareness. There is no control over my own health decisions and it is not the way any U.S. citizen should be expected to live.

I have called several times trying to enroll in healthcare and each time I have spent about 40 minutes on the phone before hanging up in frustration, I finally tried enrolling on the website but did not get to finish my application. After enrolling I did not complete my application. Today I tried signing back on to the website and I could not answer the recovery question correctly in order to retrieve my password. I called the customer service line hoping to get fast help since I already have an application file. Clearly I was mistaken, I spent over an hour on the phone for the lady to tell me that she does not see my application on file. But how is that possible if the website was able to send the link to my email in order to reset the password! After switching lines between her supervisor and I she continued feeding me the same story and giving me the excuse that her computer is acting really slow. This is by far the worst customer service that I have experienced in a very long time. The phone call ended with her hanging up on me. I am disappointed that eBay had better customer service than the healthcare.gov website, this website is a representation of the government, more work is definitely needed. I also could not find a number for customer complaints or an email.

The commercial shows all these people with rates of $22, $55, or even $200 for a family of four. The rate was over $250 for myself and close to $500 for family of two. When compared to insurance websites directly - healthcare.gov was GROSSLY overpriced. We were very disappointed in the rates, available info, website errors and misleading advertisements.

Healthcare.gov
December 9, 2015

This is a licensed scam for health care insurance. The fact that you don't have health insurance is one thing. The other is the fact that you pay out of pocket for health care when you don't have insurance, but get fined by the IRS for not having it. This is completely the most stupid thing that has come out of this government. I have to pay a deductible higher than what I would have paid a doctor all year for may issues. SCAM ALERT...

My medical bills including medication that i paid this year 2015 was $2340 for my family of 4 because I don't have health insurance. Not to mention the Fine I have to pay at tax time for 2015. The deductibles alone for this Heath care market is $******* annually. Before all this BS getting a basic plan for health care was cheap and covered pretty much everything except maybe a $3000 deductible. Thanks ObamaCare for screwing up another financial matter.

UPDATE: Just looked at the plans for 2016... What a joke all plans cost are over 975 and nothing is covered until a deductible is reached of ******* or more. Is this a Joke? Only 60% of any injury is covered and the rest out of pocket but you have to pay MOL $1000 a month for the plan. The Joke is they want to up the premium to a better plan so you can pay less for co-payment. Who wants to pay $0-5 co-payment instead of $15 co-payment with an increased premium of $130 a month. This is a Joke if you tell me.

Without this program I would not have insurance. Having said that, I am disappointed in them having Anthem as one of the offerings. But am glad that there are others to choose from.

Sucks
August 6, 2015

Why do the representatives( of Healthcare. Gov) who take applications not tell the applicants that they will have to pay all of the money back at tax time? Why do they not tell you that you will be automatically enrolled ( without your permission, acknowledgement - or notification)? Ten phone calls over a years time to resolve a simple issue, and they tell me the same thing, "You should receive a call from a case worker, and a letter in the mail." They tell me they sent letters every time, yet I have received no such thing, - so the truth is, that is a lie they tell you. They also told me that their system automatically logs all calls, but, yet - conveniently, the first of my calls never happened. This whole thing in a nutshell - it's the biggest insurance scam in human history. My advice; Do not enroll in the marketplace healthcare system, and find your own insurance provider.

I know plenty of people who now have healthcare and they signed up using this site and they love it. Right Wingbats will deny that Obamacare works just like they will deny climate change until the last snowflake falls. Ironically, they could really use Obamacare to meet with a professional and sort out their obvious extreme emotional instability.

Firstly I would prefer not to be on MEDICAID but it beats paying 800 dollars a month to subsidise others. I am half European and lived in socialised medicine, this did not correct the US healthcare issues, it is just a ridiculous system. I am a business owner and I am on Medicaid because I do not draw an income from my business (being the first year) and so my employees have to pay through the nose and I get free healthcare. It is a scam and the weird thing is that it helps nobody because anyone with a minute job gets at best a break that equates to what they would have paid before this. The site leads me, despite wanting to buy private insurance, direct to medicaid because I am not drawing a salary.

Horrible
October 10, 2014

Horrible. I signed up in December 2013 to give it a try. My application said I did not qualify. I called Healthcare.gov and asked the agent to delete my application. I called around to insurance companies to see the best price. I received insurance from Coventry and was paying full premium price. Needless to say, I receive a letter from Coventry in September 2014 saying my insurance would be canceled due to my request. Healthcare.gov requested that Coventry cancel my insurance because I didn't send them a copy of my passport. Are you kidding me? If you don't quality and ask for your application to be deleted, why would Healthcare.gov not let me go. Now in order to get insurance I have to go through Healthcare.gov? NEVER ever fill out an application. It tracks you and makes your life miserable. I just want them to leave me alone, but I can't get insurance without them now. HELP!

I had a very similar experience. I couldn't get the healthcare.gov website to actually give me a real quote on what health insurance I could afford to buy. I wish they would have someone help you or the site were easier to use.

I have been trying to get this website to tell me something... ANYTHING... for a week now. After 5 days I was finally able to create a username and authenticate it. It took me another 2 days to go through the verification and I've just completed the interview and received my eligibility... only it doesn't tell me anything. I can't find out about any available insurance policies or find out how I am supposed to proceed. My wife and I are currently uninsured and I don't want to pay the fine. But I don't know yet if I can even afford this. I would think the federal government would have their act together a little better than this.
