Why it is a scam
1. There is no customer service - no call centre all you do is email and the response you get is like after 24 hours
2. They give the option to choose a pro and you think yay I selected a pro with awesome rating who has say 500 great reviews - ohh no they just changed it to a pro with not great ratings and nofication
3. I signed up for 3 month they changed it to 6 months the plan
4.the pro comes late - you wait and then the service gets auto cancelled and they charged me a fees of $15 I had to chase to

5. Additionally, cause they changed pro automically 2times I wanted to cancel my service - first they charged me $90, then $99 and then late fees
Beware don't use handy! Horrible horrible app and customer service actually no customer service
Despite scheduling well in advance ( a month!), Handy texted a cancellation notice on the day of service, indicating they did not have enough service providers in our area to (suburbs of Philadelphia!). This left us in a horrible bind, as we had sold our house and the cleaning was scheduled for the day prior to closing. As such, we had to scramble, and given significant cost for last minute cleaning services had to clean it ourselves. I would not trust this company!
A handy worker broke a water valve in my home, but Handy flatly refused to refund the money or pay for a replacement despite it falling within their terms of agreement.
You have customers that want you to clean a three bedroom home with 3 bathrooms for $45 it will say 1 bedroom 1 bathrooms, sureprise! When u get there. Don't leave early from that house the customer will give u a complaint! Fees fees fees is another thing. Customers are rude even when u do a great job. From the customers who love u give great tips but you'll only find one in a bunch of 20. Use other apps they are out there. They will make sure you are respected as a pro. Handy has pros that are not even pros that make it bad for th rest of us. Housecleaning is hard work period. Handy needs to understand there are both customers and pros on there that should not be on the app!
They will rip you off and charge you tons of insane fees! I had an emergency and had to cancel a service and they charged me the full amount for services that were not rendered. I reached out to customer service and they gave me a credit of $40... NO WHERE was it listed that I would be charged in full. I understand charging a small fee for canceling a few hours before but a full $93!... I have also had many terrible experiences with their cleaning "professionals"... these people cant clean.
What kind of shady company doesn't have a phone number where you can call and speak to someone? That should be your first sign. Run away!
I booked a cleaning with them, and their only available was the morning of a special event (that same evening)
I get an email stating I'm booked, time and date set. This is false. When you contact them asking for the cleaners contact info... you realize you can only email. When they finally get back to you, they tell you they have yet to match you with a cleaner. That's when things get shady. You look up their reviews and read hundreds (literally) of reviews of this racket they're running. You're lucky if the cleaners ever show up, according to many reviews. And then pray they aren't thiefs, junkies, and other miscreants.
I'm embarrassed that I didn't check yelp. Or bbb. Or Glassdoor. Or indeed. All these sites will reveal what a sick group of people run this thing.
I've now emailed them numerous times requesting a refund and they are not responding.
Be very careful as this seems to be mostly a scam operation. First, there is NO contact/customer service phone number so once they have taken your money and don't give you service you are unable to speak with any representative. If you think I am wrong, try looking for one and then try emailing them to tell them you would like to speak over the phone with a representative---ten emails later I was STILL unable to get one. They will email you back and forth and continue to be vague so as to not address your question OR provide you service while charging your credit card in advance for services not provided. Once you finally realized you have been scammed out of your money, they will charge you a cancellation fee for services you did not receive. Stay far away unless you are willing to just throw away your money.
I used a promo code with Handy.com. My total was $150 and the promo code discounted my total to $78 instead. The cleaner who came to clean my home did a decent job but didn't complete everything that was listed on my list of services. Their list of alternative cleaners was extremely limited. When I reached out to them I also found out that I was charged $142 instead of the $78. When I addressed this they said that they were not responsible for me using the wrong promo code. They stated that I should have read the fine print. When I mentioned that I got the promo code off of a website like retailmenot.com they said that it's a lesson that I should learn and I shouldn't use random websites for promo codes. It didn't matter that their own website didn't state what the promo code was for nor any information as to what the promo code should be used for instead. When I sent them the screenshot of my purchase they dismissed it. Both customer representatives that I spoke to were rude and unprofessional. The first one refused to give me any identification information as to who he was, his employee number, department that he worked in or his email address. The second customer service rep was just as rude. They refused to refund me any of the money back and refused to cancel my account without charging me a fee.
Give subscription companies a bad name. Read the T&C's carefully. They find every way to stop you cancelling and charge you for the pleasure
BUYER BEWARE Consumer warning: Do NOT use handy for cleaning services. Someone threw away or stole stuff of my boyfriend's before. We gave them another shot. I canceled the cleaning program the night before a cleaning. They charged me $99 to terminate the contract early. On top of that they claim I canceled the night of and only would refund us for half of the cleaning we didn't get! They also sent the cleaner anyway to the appointment we canceled the night BEFORE! They have been shady and unreasonable and have straight up lied to us. We DO NOT recommend them!
I was moving out of an apartment and ordered a cleaning. The cleaner left hours early and I later found had damaged an appliance. After emailing back and forth with customer service for several days, I knew I had no time to have Handy actually resolve the issue. I had to take off of work to fix everything myself instead of risk going through with the terrible reimbursement process.
The cleaner spent barely over an hour at my apartment. I spent hours emailing and finally fixing everything myself. Still, Handy offered me nothing in return.
This company limits its communication with its contractors to email which when answered is usually too late with answers not associated with any questions asked. IF YOU HAVE A CUSTOMER FILE A CLAIM YOU WILL BE DE-ACTIVATED NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
I tried Handy for 4 different services, 2 of which were actually completed (only 1 satisfactory), 1 of which was cancelled the day before it was supposed to happen, and 1 which no worker picked up after several days of waiting, and the icing on the cake was having trouble with the Ap. If you try to reschedule appointments that you tried to book earlier, the ap does not select the correct time. I tried to notify them about this to which they told me to just log out and back in. Hello, I tried that about 10x. At this point I decided to cancel. I contacted customer service to please waive my cancellation fee due to all the problems I had. I understand I agreed to service, however, they also have a "Happiness Guarantee" to which they did not satisfy at all. The customer service replies promptly, but they literally do not seem to give a F*** about making their customers happy. Bottom line, DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Avoid Handy like the plague! Would give 0 if I could - really dodgy, shoddy company. As other people mention, they charge a fee to end your account that you're not aware of at the start, and even when I wanted to use the service to make a booking, it wasn't possible to do so due to technical issues. So I am paying 60 pounds to clean my house myself. I will be looking to see which forums I can use to lay a complaint against them to get my money back and ensure this doesn't happen to others.
You sign up hoping to get a housekeeper and then no confirmation from them. You may not know you get someone up until1 hour of appointment but yet they charge you. Then when you try and hire a PRO, the price is almost 20-30 dollars higher. There is no way to contact them except through email. The app sucks, the workers send you messages and you cant read them. I was charged 99 for a cancellation fee when I didn't even use the service! I had to cancel my debit card so they wouldn't charge me! This is a total scam. If you need services, use Task Rabbit. They charge you AFTER the service is performed.
Terrible customer service. The app is unreliable, books the wrong days, no way to reschedule easily, no phone number! Charged me for 2 cleanings that haven't happened. Can't cancel without paying $200. I'm in touch with my housekeeper outside the app and what they email me is directly opposite of what they email her and vice versa.
They charge you for a cleaning done by unknown service provider, the quality turns out to be bad and they just offer to send another provider next time. So they are charging me for testing their provider, very smart! Another alternative is to cancel which costs $99. I cancelled my subscription and now they are refusing to delete my credit card data from their databases.
You can not contact them apart with emails but they won't let you call them which is not surprising seeing how bad their service is.
The cleaners are not doing a good job and I know as I tried a few. That is if you're lucky enough that they don't cancel on you 30min before the appointment, again that happened to me a few times in a row.
I would not recommend their service and probably never use again! Go to Housekeep.com they are much more reliable.

I worked for these crooks and every complaint written here I would absolutely say is genuine the only people that they treat worse than their customers is there are independent contractors or Pros they treat you okay at first but after a few months they purposely want you to quit so that they don't have to classify you as an employee another law they seem to want to skirt around.
Deceitful lying and crooked would be considered soft words for what this company does they honestly should be shut down.
For the third time now they are keeping my pay based on 1: a jobs that never existed that they say I missed, two weeks after the fact 2: a customer complaint that wasn't true, I went back to the customer and ask them about it because Idid a couple other jobs for them not thru handy which by the way is the only good thing about them is that you can pick up some good contacts, and they said they never complained that it was completely made up by handy even offered to give me a letter in writing, yet they kept $175 of my money I could go on and on but all I can say it is a horrible horrible horrible horrible company to work for as for customers I have never seen so many complaints in my life anyway the customer service number which they don't like to give out is *******077 they jerk everybody around on the email which they don't respond to. This company is what's exactly wrong with this country if they pulled the same deceitfulness that they pull in this country in their home country they would cut your hands off
You cant get a job fixed when their workers screw it up. They expect you to pay to get someone else to fix what the previous contractor screwed up. I also told one contractor who was late not to show. He came anyway and begged me to let him do the job it was very awkward.
Answer: They don't provide a refund, even when they fail to honor the agreement. In my case, they have twice (so far) canceled my house cleaning with one hour's notice. (If I fail to give 24 hours notice of cancellation, I have to pay a penalty. For them, no notice, no penalty.) They told me they were having trouble finding cleaners in my area. And if the no shows are a problem for me, I can pay the $99 cancellation fee. So how long does this go on? Three cancellations, five, ten? Forever? This is an irresponsible company with horrible customer service.
Answer: Im having problems getting paid. I told client to have cash on hand as I wont do the job. Good luck finding someone else with my skill set. Im supposed to do a job tomorrow that i have to buy stuff out of my own money and hold my breath for pay back. Ill stand on a corner begging for money before I do another job for them unless they pay me for past jobs and I talk to someone on the phone.
