I recently ordered a new BBQ grill, and scheduled assembly through Handy. The last grill we got about 5 years ago, took several hours to put together so we definitely didn't to go that route again. Handy.com assigned Jess to assist us. She was on time, no hassle, got our grill together swiftly and did a fantastic job. Will definitely call on Handy and Jess if any other work is needed
After all I went through trying to get help, I now believe the entire thing is a scam. I committed to a 6-month cleaning program and never had one. Not. One. Cleaning. I canceled the program and paid the $99 early termination fee which sucked since this was NOT my fault but felt better than committing to six months of hassles with no-shows, zero customer service, and bogus charges. If I were to cancel on someone 27 minutes before an appointment, I would be charged but the same practices are not extended by this company. I even found one of the CEOs on another system and wrote in desperation for some help and nothing! Please don't get scammed!
Handy.com was highly recommended by Wayfair when I purchased an Armoire that needed assembly. I read the product instructions and realized I needed help. As is the case with products purchased from Ikea, Wayfair also sells merchandise that requires lots of valuable time to assemble which I don't have.
It was worth every penny to hire someone with patience and the skillset to take a thousand pieces and make a finished product in a couple of hours.
I noticed that Handy.com, which offers similar services to Task Rabbit, can help with a lot of in home projects. I will use Handy.com again in the near future because you receive value for money well spent.
I have been forced to call and wait on hold to make 5 appointments because of no shows by personnel after confirming appt.
One appointment was kept by service, sent a single man to assemble LARGE 7 ft x 8 ft complex outdoor patio swing with awning. He did it wrong, using incorrect screws in incorrect places and left some screws and brackets out altogether which he threw back in the box and damaged the $500 item. Handy was supposed to send someone to correct the damage and poor assembly, 2 more no shows.
Had to call Walmart.com for help getting item repaired through another service. WASTE of time, money and strain on my schedule waiting for appointments they have no intention of keeping. Not to mention that my brand new item is now being repaired because of poor assembly by their " trained professionals".
I used Handy.com twice now for furniture assembly. High quality work, great communication and super nice assembly person! Very easy to book exactly what I needed.
Ive been doing handy jobs for these people and have not received a payment. The app does not let me put payment info in for processing and there is no phone number to call... a bunch of random tex from apps with no one on the other end. They have a mailing address is all. Im supposed to do a job today that requires me spending money on materials... good one. I told the client via tex ill only do the job for cash. I would not recommend working for them. There is no support, jobs are under bid and it appears thay could care less if your compensated for your work. Why are home owners using them? Im convinced ive been scammed.
They constantly kept sending me text messages saying that "someone didn't show up to work at the last minute" and that they needed to reschedule. Then I'd reschedule for a few days later and then on the same day of the appointment, they would send the same message that someone didn't show up to work and that the appointment needed to be rescheduled. I finally had to take the bicycle to a Bicycle Shop in order to have it put together. And I had to request a refund from Walmart.com where I purchased the Handy bike assembly when I bought the bicycle on line.
Was skeptical at first but making an appointment was very easy. Was surprised to be able to make apot for the following morning. Price to replace kitchen faucet very reasonable. Matt showed up on time after keeping in communication with me and replaced the faucet in 1 hour. He was very polite and efficient, no problems whatsoever and I'll use Handy.com again.
Do yourself a favor and never use this service! Don't waste your money or time! I needed a swing set assembled by Handy. I made the install appointment almost two months in advance. Handy is making the company Wayfair look bad. They only showed up once, 2 hours late and never finished the job on my original appointment date. I got 4 texts and emails that they were showing up and NEVER showed! They said the people were having emergencies and couldn't finish. Customer service is a joke! They ended up cancelling the whole appointment after 6 postponements within a week. Very unreliable people. If I could give this service zero or negative stars, I would. My experience was awful! I would add a photo, but there is just a pile of wood in the backyard. I would never use or recommend this service to ANYONE!
We contracted for 6 months. They missed the first visit, we called, they said we owed them for them not showing. We eventually worked that out and rescheduled with new person. Well over the next couple of months they failed to show 50% of the time and charged us $10 every time THEY DID NOT SHOW. This last time we canceled for breach of contract. They charged us $99 to cancel even though they have already violated the contract terms. RUN!
My handyman today was very helpful in installing a new fan at my house. He was right one time (actually a few minutes early!) and got right to work. The job was done pretty quickly and Todd was very friendly throughout. Really the only complaint was that he left the box the fan came in behind with the Styrofoam. We're moving though so I've already repurposed the box. Just need to get rid of the Styrofoam.
When I ordered my exercise bike I got an email that day saying someone would be out 3 days after delivery. 1 HR before they were to arrive they resched to 2 days later. Night before they reschedule again to another week out. I emailed them and told them to forget it. They responded apologizing that some times they don't have people in the area when customer wants them! I wasn't the one who picked the date and time they were!
I had a great Handy experience. My professional, James, arrived promptly and assembled my trundle bed in roughly half the estimated time of my appointment. He was clean and courteous and made the whole process run smoothly. I would definitely work with him and Handy again.
Like many reviewers, I got scammed by this "company" of middlemen by purchasing the installation for the toilet I bought at Lowe's. As far as I can tell, Handy actually EMPLOYS zero people; all they do is schedule you for a time (when you might or might NOT be home), THEN they try to find someone in your "area" who can do the job. When they inevitably can't, you either get NOTHING - simply a no-show - or a mystery email reading "Sorry, we had to reschedule!" Don't do it. Just…don't. And, if you're dealing with a big-boxer like Lowe's…let THEM know.
Michael was wonderful. He was prompt and on time, friendly, and efficient. I am so happy with my experience!
I had some old sliding closet doors replace that were damaged and we're not functioning as closet doors anymore. Melvin the handyman came in and took the tracks out took the old doors out and restored my closet doors to brand new closet doors and they look amazing I couldn't have asked for anything better and it was done in less than 2 hours and now my closet door they're brand new and they just look amazing, wonderful job very professional.
Handy is definitely a hit or miss. If you like a cleaner you are not able to request them any other time and at your next appointment you will be presented with a cleaner on the day of your service that is in incapable, unprofessional, and does not know how to clean. They duped me into signing up for a six month plan. So glad it's over so I can cancel them and hire a better cleaning service that does better with their Customer Service team.
I love that buyers can now add assembly to their furniture purchases via Handy. Costs a little more but I know the job is getting done right and, when you have a great "handy man", it makes the experience even better! Ned came to put together my first project and was awesome. Prompt, personable, polite, clean... ever since I have only requested Ned. He knows his stuff and I would recommend him to everyone!
Answer: They don't provide a refund, even when they fail to honor the agreement. In my case, they have twice (so far) canceled my house cleaning with one hour's notice. (If I fail to give 24 hours notice of cancellation, I have to pay a penalty. For them, no notice, no penalty.) They told me they were having trouble finding cleaners in my area. And if the no shows are a problem for me, I can pay the $99 cancellation fee. So how long does this go on? Three cancellations, five, ten? Forever? This is an irresponsible company with horrible customer service.
Answer: Im having problems getting paid. I told client to have cash on hand as I wont do the job. Good luck finding someone else with my skill set. Im supposed to do a job tomorrow that i have to buy stuff out of my own money and hold my breath for pay back. Ill stand on a corner begging for money before I do another job for them unless they pay me for past jobs and I talk to someone on the phone.
Answer: Again, these should not be appearing in the automatic feed for FAQ's? Who is doing QA around here?
Answer: Probably should not list someone's personal telephone number in the FAQ feed. What do you guys think?
Answer: Wayfair is also a scam. It's just a matter of time. They are a middle man to hundreds of businesses. They sell products regardless of whether or not the product is available or in inventory. Eventually people will catch on...
