Hampton & Lovett's reputation is notably polarized, with a significant number of customers expressing dissatisfaction regarding service delays, lack of communication, and aggressive marketing tactics. Many reviews highlight feelings of being misled about potential savings and the inadequacy of support received after payments were made. Conversely, a smaller segment of customers reported positive experiences, praising the professionalism and effectiveness of the service in securing substantial savings. This divergence suggests a need for the company to enhance its customer service practices and transparency to rebuild trust and improve overall customer satisfaction.

I engaged this company in June 2022. They've taken forever to do anything, in fact they seem to do nothing unless and until I chase for a progress report. I put a review on another site and they offered to come to an arrangement with me to take it down which I refused. I said that I might amend it at a later date IF their service improved to warrant me changing it. Now I have a letter transferring my business to an alternative which, evidently, they can do unilaterally as per their terms and conditions.
Every few weeks we get another piece of spam from this company. I just wish they would give up. Perhaps leaving them a poor review and pointing out they are just spammers who scam might help.
Attached is a screen grab of the latest scam. They apparently have seen what presumably should be confidental financal documents. How?
How many laws are they breaking with spam, data protection et al.
Absolute shysters and will be reporting this to the DPA administrator to see if they are just lying or is they are accessing private informatio to which they have no right.
"My name is Sophie I am writing you to as we have noticed that there is an unclaimed Business Rates credit note against your property..."
I don't have business premises. I therefore don't pay business rates. When you start out with a lie, it's easy see where any association would go with shysters like this.
These people will lie to you make false promises take your money harass you on the phone threaten you with court action and make life miserable for you and will do nothing what they promise you have been warned.
Sending 1000's of emails to businesses claiming they are owed £1000's in property tax and that they can help you get a refund. Utter rubbish!
We engaged this firm in Oct 2021 for 2017 rates review paid the full fees and till date nobody has bothered to give us a satisfactory response. Our check and challenge deadline was almost missed once, if we had not chased them for an update. It's absolute scandal this firm till date nobody is seriously addressing our request and no effort is being made to process our application. It's been almost 2 years and we are still waiting for them to do anything.
My company gets several emails per week from them claiming they have carried out a review and can reduce our rates. Our company has no premises in the UK and therefore pays no rates. We have had no trading relation with them or any similar company. We have not given them permission to send us marketing emails. Yet we get spam from them daily.
Would you trust a company that uses spam email as their main marketing method? Neither would I!
Back in 2018 we appointed this company after their slick sales team convinced us to give them a try and paid over £3K for them to appeal our rates.
Nothing at all come from it and they made up several excuses why they failed to push our claim through.
We asked for our money back and they refused.
I spoke with Chris who is the MD several times and got nowhere.
To our horror, they are now claiming we signed a contract for 2 attempts at the rates appeal and are chasing us up for another £3K for the second go, even though they did not bother with the 1st go!
It has now got to the point of harassment as I have told them to stop contacting us but they keep sending threats of CCJ's and enforcement action if we don't pay!
Not sure how this firm is getting away with it and has still been in business all this time!
Stay well away from this company.
Absolute con! Seeking a winding up order against this company for non- refund of failed appeal on no-win, no- fee contract.
Hampton & lovett promised big savings on our business rates, they eventually saved nothing and 2 years later, are demanding a very large fee to do a second rates review which I was unaware of. Either I pay the full amount a second time or 50% cancellation fee to not perform any work. There is no reason for a second case and it is unlikely to be any different to the previous one. A terribly immoral company. Stay away from using them
Absolutely brilliant
Absolutely brilliant the service was excellent can highly recommend can't thank Hampton enough
I paid this Company £3,780 to do a rates review in 2017 and the next time I hear from is in 2023 with a invoice for the same amount for a rates review for 2023 and they've got the cheek to send me a red warning, it's actually funny
Beware, the representative who came to see us was thorough and more or less said it was guaranteed that we would receive a sizeable reduction and refund. They sent no evidence or comparable evidence to the VOA so I'm not surprised our appeal was turned down. When you call them they are very unhelpful and certainly don't speak with the confidence and professionalism of our first contact, it very much sounds like a group of very young inexperienced office assistants who are dealing with these matters. I appreciate that nothing is certain when one through this process but after reading other reviews I feel like I have been scammed. Also, they have removed their reviews from Google as they were so shocking.
For your own peace of mind its better to keep your money in the bank as its worth more than the saving when they just send you another invoice in again 3 years later for the same crap service.
Absolute Disgrace, Do not use these people, all they want is your money, they come out to get you to sign up Quiclkly enough and send invoices for you to pay them asap the £1500.00 saying how many thousands they will save you, fantastic news, the Salesman who they sent was very convincing and said the service would be prompt, its over a year now for my claim and its still not sorted, no further forward and all they are interesting in is getting more money off you in the meantime, so the new rates have just come into place this year and we don't have a benchmark to work from as nothing has been finished off for the last one and they are sending me threatening letters saying I owe them for this years claim to which I have informed them I have not asked them to do until the first one is completed, email verification to prove what im saying however they now are saying I need to cancel this years £1500.00 via email that I have not asked to do, email again sent back to say I have not Authorised so please do not do this years at all, funny enough now I get an invoice for £780.00 cancellation fee for something I have not asked them to do for me, Be careful and go to a company that will look after you, I will post another review on here when I hear more back and have my very first case from over a year ago with the supposed results and will hopefully not have to expose this company any more for any fraudulent claims they have made to me and my Company, do not use! Unless you have money to burn..
Terrible! Signed up with Hampton Lovett in feb 2022. 14 months later and the council still think we are a hairdresser - which we are not. Left a bad review a few months ago, and was offered a reduction in commission to remove it, which I did. 12 months after signing the contract, I received a letter offering to fast track 2023 rates review, which I assumed was a fast track of my original application into the new rates year, as nothing had happened with it. Turns out, they consider this a new contract, and are threatening to sue me as I refused to pay them more money until they complete on the original contract! Looking forward to counter claiming for breach of contract. Wish I had never heard of these people, do not sign up with them, they cannot be trusted
This company has somehow subscribed us to numerous email addresses even though many of them are not used externally. Every email has been aimed at getting us to sign up to their services to challenge rates with emotive, fear mongering terminology so that sign up.
In our case we're on full rates relief due to the low rent we pay so it was never ever relevant but despite unsubscribing from numerous addresses we keep getting their cr*p. Never used their actual services but given other reviews it's pretty obvious they're not a company we'd ever want to deal with.
Instructed this firm to challenge our rateable value. After 12 months still no progress, after we paid several thousand in down payment. Slick sales guy. We have been conned - do not engage them. I have also read that they have also been challenged for writing fake reviews on Trustpilot.
Claire is a fantastic sales person- she'll promise you the world and you'll never see her again after parting with you money. All lies - not to be trusted
There are no guarantees - even though they said ours was almost certainly a winning outcome (they suggested £10,000 + in compensation).
But their report was inadequate.
The VOA only have to have a few properties in the are that are paying the same rates as you are, and your case will be dismissed.
I think the VOA should publish the Results of Valuation contests by Agent - if this was the case, we would probably all steer clear.
Hope this helps you to avoid this costly mistake.
