Ordered a Passat, got something entirely different (an old qashqai). Asked customer support, got a quick reply and a promise about getting back to me. Never heard from them again. Rental went fine, the qashqai did all right

This company operate an illigitemate refuelling scam. We refuelled immediately before dropping off, and documented this via a receipt confirming that, time stamped 6 minutes before we informed the company by WhatsApp that we had arrived (see message also attached). When we returned the car, we were informed it was marked as being fully refuelled. It was then switched back on and driven while all checks were being done by the returns agent, using fuel. Then, we were charged a high rate to refuel, with an additional admin fee. It seems the car was switched on by the return agent, to burn fuel, so they could benefit from this extra charge.

Got used to the Stansted crew; always felt very welcomed; great driving experiences. Lost my Platinum customer status when the policy (number of rentals) changed though. I'm not as frequent in the UK as I used to be anyway.

Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at [email protected]. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
