I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges.
Please visit https://greenmotion.com/terms and select the country you rented from to see the deposit information which will advise the general timeframe that you can expect for the release of the deposit.
Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you.
Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you.

We had to pay extra to drop off before 8.00 am, as not at airport couldn't leave. Would possibly be the same for evening flights, extra charge for out of hours drop off. Partially my fault as put flight time by mistake for drop off. Rather than 2 hours before and didn't realise they weren't based at the airport but 15 minutes away still quite a good price even with extra 50

I recently rented a car from Green motion, and I had an outstanding experience. The staff was incredibly professional, friendly.
The car was in perfect condition—clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described in the booking.

I booked the mid size car for $500 for 9 days.
Did NOT state that I was required to purchase the insurance provided by Green Motion - rather than my own comprehensive auto insurance.
To obtain the car, I was told I had to pay $700 to purchase the insurance from their company - rejecting my auto insurance AND my premium VISA card that also covers me.
Upon return of the auto - tank filled up and no damage whatsoever to the car as I am a senior citizen - after I left, the company charged me an additional; $150 on my card - with no email, no disclosure.

Quick, easy collection of vehicle, already warmed up, and helpful, cheerful staff to ease the paperwork. It was a lovely surprise to get an upgrade, as the vehicle we were expecting was not available. This is the second time we have used Green Motion: once in Iceland, now in Ivalo, Finland. Overall, we had a decent experience. I like the shuttle service to and from the airport. The staff was friendly. I was a little disappointed when I got home to see I had an almost $400 extra charge to our credit card bill with no explanation; however, I sent an email in explaining the situation, and we did get a refund.

Pour notre part tout s'est bien passé. Nous savions qu'il fallait une carte de crédit pour la caution. De nombreux loueurs la demandent à présent (USA, Dubai, Canad, Portugal …) donc pas de soucis à ce niveau là, sommes des touristes avertis.
Un surclassement sur une des 2 voitures louées, nous étions 10 avec 4 enfants en bas âge.
Les réhausseurs un peu fatigués mais utiles et fonctionnels.
Le sourire, les échanges agréables, le service sont là donc à partir de la, une grande partie de la satisfaction clientèle est atteinte.
Après une des deux voitures méritait une révision au garage, bruit de rotule ou autre fatiguée mais elle nous a pas lâchée, c'est le principale.
Juste le drop off en dehors des horaires d'ouvertures facturés un peu cher, 50€/ voiture, un peu compréhensible en soi, faut faire déplacer du personnel pour checker à 3:30 du mat, mais 50€ pour les 2 voitures ça aurait été mieux. On s'est débrouillé autrement et on a ramené les voitures la veille.
A part ça RAS, meilleur rapport qualité prix.

We hired a car from GreenMotion near Glasgow Airport in January and from the very start. The staff there (Alistair and colleague whose name I didn't catch) couldn't have done more to be helpful. We were able to upgrade the car and insurance policy with no issues at all and at less cost that I'd anticipate; Alistair ensured I was comfortable with all the controls of the car (they are on the opposite side to where they are in most Australia cars) and everything else to do with the vehicle before we left; they gave us very good advice about the roads in the area we were travelling to (eg potential weather effects etc, as well as directions and ideas about places to go); on our return they very quickly processed the car and return paperwork and shuttled us to the airport without delay. The car itself was a great little Peugeot, very smooth to drive, economical on fuel use, and just the right amount of power for the roads we were using. We were very happy with our experience and will use GreenMotion again in the future.

Alistair and his colleague (14th January, Glasgow airport branch) were very efficient and helpful, giving us plenty of advice about road condition in various parts of the country and ensuring we were completely comfortable with the car and its controls etc before we left. Organising an upgrade was no problem. The car itself was a great little Peugeot, very zippy but economical, smooth and a pleasure to drive and we had a lovely week travelling around the Scottish Highlands. We would definitely hire through Green Motion again.
Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
