I was a bit hard to find the contact at the aiport (hit: personel of greenmotion: wear a GREEN shirt!), but we arrived at the rental office within 30 min, and 30 min later we were off in the rentalcar. Drop off was fast and easy.

A group of us (11 in all) rented two vans to drive from Mombasa to the AirBnB where we were staying. Not only was our train arriving outside of regular business hours, requiring GreenMotion to meet us "late," but at the last minute we decided we weren't up for navigating the hour-long drive at night ourselves, and requested that GreenMotion supply drivers to take us. GreenMotion was very accommodatig, so much so that we ended up hiring the drivers for the duration of our stay. They were great company, knew where everything was, and were well worth the expenditure.

The office at Belgrade was a pig to find, no signage in the airport and could really have done with specific instructions from Green Motion. Very helpful guy, couldn't have done more to prepare us for driving in Serbia. Decent if leggy car, bigger than ordered but it was reasonably clean and well equiped, did the job fine. Took photos before and after as I always do (and was recommended at the desk), no dramas on return which was very straight forward.

4 adults explored Lake District and Yorkshire Dales during ten days in a Kia Sportage. There were just about enough room for the 4 suitcases, but little else. The roads are narrow, and the Sortage could feel a bit broad from time to time. The car worked fine all the way. We had to wait one and a half hours at Greenmotion's offices before we got the car, mostly because customers in front of us had so many questions to the two patient clerks at the Greenmotion desk. We wanted to add one additional driver, but that would rise the cost by some 50%. Apart from this, the experience was very good and the return of the car went without any problems.

From on-line vehicle selection, to completing the rental agreement, to picking up and returning the car, and the quality of the rental car, there were no frustrations or hitches along the way. Also, the on-line process includes verifying the needed rental documents so the pick up time is speedy, and so is the drop off, and they contact you the night before your return to make sure nothing has changed. I've been renting car around the world for more than for nearly 50 years for both business and pleasure, and so far GreenMotion is the best experience I have had, based on three rentals in three different countries.

The pick-up service at Lisbon airport was outstanding. Extremely nice and competent employee, the explanations were very clear. I got exactly the car I wanted and bonus point, it was brand new. Desk service and car were OK. Just one thing did not satisfied me completely: I asked for information about the possibility to get insurance to cross the border and the answer was not proper: the operator did not inform me that there is the possibility to get a daily insurance... He just told me "we have no insurance, no possibility"...

Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at [email protected]. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
