I had been using gmx for years. I used email forwarding so that it would go to my gmail. Suddenly, I stopped getting bank, airline, and other important account emails. I tried to log-in and they deleted it for "inactivity"! They said it was in deletion process and they couldn't do anything to save my data or my account!
This does not have email that is compatible for all internet browsers, has biased staff blocking users for illogical reasons, the interface looks outdated, and it makes a joke out of itself that I cannot take it seriously. So, I would recommend business professionals to stay away from this unreliability called GMX.com. The security and unlimited storage GMX's representers want to point out are not going to be used by potential users if bullies want to kick people out for no good reason. Also, when I try to check my email the emails I get have the word forbidden in them. I feel like I am in a religiously influenced government when GMX won't even let me read what is sent to me. Funny... I can't give this a zero out of 5 for the review.
They are using "PTR resource record (PTR-RR) test" for receiving e-mails. If your sender has e-mail account on server with badly configured PTR-RR you will never receive this e-mail on gmx account. If you send first e-mail with question to unknown person you will never receive answer and you will be thinking that this person is ignoring you. And the best thing: With any other e-mail provider there's no problem with badly configured PTR-RR, you will receive e-mail.
Effect: You can't rely on gmx account. And technical support can't see problem. They are proud that they have good security policy. I wish them keep it up :)
Gmx used to be very good. They were sold and their quality has deteriorated greatly.
Yesterday they blocked my account without notice (apparently this is not uncommon).
I contacted them and this was their response:
"We have forwarded your request to unblock your account to our security department and it was determined that the account in question will remain blocked.
Please note that this is a decision made by our abuse department and we do not have further information we can provide to you."
Dodgy reply, from a dodgy company
There was nothing at all wrong with how the address was used, it was not used for spam, anything illegal, or anything that anyone at all would consider immoral.
Two accounts, occasionally used, deleted. "Account does not exist" for the email address. Several services point to these defunct accounts, so will have to be updated. They probably delete accounts without notice if their system thinks you didn't look at enough adverts. This is "gmx.com", the US service. The German service, "gmx.net", has alway been reliable. Avoid gmx.com.
Dont believe the bad reviews here. They are a really Great email service. I have been with them for 4 years and never had a problem. I hardly get any spam that you get with gmail and I can archive emails for years. The best alternative to the big companies!
I've been using GMX for a few years now for personal email, and haven't really had a problem with it. I recommended it to my elderly mom, and she asked me to set up an account for her (she likes the option to have aliases). I set up the account, set up a few aliases, and installed the GMX app on her phone. Two days later, she couldn't log in. I went over to her place and tried to log in, and it gave me the error message "No such account exists". I filled out the customer service form and submitted it, and was redirected to an error page. I then set up another account for her (under a different username, since although her old account 'no longer existed', the username was still in use), and two days later - boom, gone again. I tried a third time, and... same thing. I spent a week dealing with this, and it was a complete waste of time. I'm now migrating my own account away from GMX. I refuse to deal with a service where they can just randomly close my account for no reason. This is absolutely ridiculous.
This company is the lowest of the low. I've lost all my emails from two accounts because they arbitrarily decided to shut them down for no given reason besides "The GMX account you are trying to access is currently in the process of being deleted". What an awful, awful email service. I advise anyone to never use this company and sincerely hope they go out of business.
For no apparent reason, I can no longer scroll down my emails and can only intermittently scroll down my folders. As with a prior issue, all I received in response to my request for assistance was an automatically generated reply with tips on correcting the problem. In neither case did the 'tips' match my problem. I sent a follow-up email, but have yet to receive a direct response. My perception is that there is nobody home.
They deleted all my mails without any warning. I found myself unable to retrieve all my online purchases and receipts from various online services, included all my licenses software and even more my steam account.
In repeated occasions they gone out of service leaving me in trouble trusting them. So i moved to another service more reliable leaving my mail with gmx just for licenses and purchases. I would have never expected that they was capable of doing worst then that
Customer service stopped to answer me when i started to do difficult questions to them. So they knows they are wrong:)
After all i advise to use gmx services just for temporary mails avoiding to manage important data because they could get lost very easily and even if asked politely many times arising the importance of the matter, customers service it will refuse to just resurrect your account. I am leaving them forever :)
GMX offers great features including unlimited storage and best of all, the ability to create white list and have some control over your spam filter. I set up my account and things seemed to be going well. I'm just an average person, sending personal emails. A few of my recipients occasionally bounced my messages back as suspected spam but generally things seemed great until suddenly, one morning my account was blocked for suspicious activity. Contacted GMX online support and they responded that my account is shut down due to abuse! $(*%(*&! I wasn't doing mass email or even forwarding stupid jokes to people, and they weren't sending any crap to me. Because I used IMAP, all of my saved messages, contact lists, etc are in lockdown and I have no way to acces any of it. GMX has no phone # and they are now unresponsive to my requests for help. If you won't give me any warning or let me know what the "abuse" is they are accusing of, then at least et me get my stuff back. Jerks.
I am blocked for the seventh time, no reasons given, NEVER A REASON. Now I don't have access to my personal contacts, and have been advised that my account will remain blocked. I suggest all who require dependable E-mail service avoid GMX.
True rating if possible would be Minus 100
Email account locked, never had this before? Just try to get all my contacts over to gmx... now this. I'm not using there website for checking etc mainly mac mail and iPhone. I guess no exposure to advertising... not worth having customer!?
I have never done anything 'weird' using any account, and I have never had issues with previous email services, GMX, however, sucks horribly. They randomly blocked me from my account more than once and did not give a reason. When they allowed me back into that account and blocked it again, I created a new one (about a year ago). Now I just tried to log in and was told that my account was "in the process of being terminated." I think they use these accounts to get people's personal information. Maybe they use it themselves; maybe they sell it to others. They need to be investigated by the Better Business Bureau and the FBI. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER WITH GMX. USE A DIFFERENT SERVICE, OR YOU WILL LIVE TO REGRET IT.
Hi All,
I used GMX email account during last few years '*******@gmx.de' and GMX provides few media services with specific costs.
They started few services on my email account and sent a mail, if I want to cancel these services then I need to inform them within 2 weeks and email communication was in German.
Unfortunately I am not a German speaker.
Now I received below letter (second time) from a legal firm to pay for services, even though I havent used any service.
When I called the legal firm, they said, I havent cancelled these services with two weeks so I need to pay now.
When I received similar kind of letter first time, I have sent an email and asked for information, but they havent replied to my email.
Now they have added penalty with the existing amount and sent another letter
$#*!ty scamsearching $#*!$#*!! Getting lots of scam/spam eceryday to my Hotmail from some one thats using this $#*!ty mail. Got some from big Electronic stores and some from google saying ive won different phone and tvs. Why are they allowing this $#*!? Ive nerver given out my email to them or anyone else that should sell it to scammers, exept google. It all started after i linked my accounts together.
First of all, I believe these people work under Gmail. I can't stand
Google, and went flying into the hands of these fools. Furthermore,
I can't log out enough for these people. Even if I don't they will. Theres always a notice warning that I didn't log out. It makes me feels like am bothering them. I had to sign in each and every time. When I paste something it has to go through this screen box. The straw that broke the camel's back was went I was browsing and came back and they log me out automatically. I don't know what they have to prove. But I hate too much security. I know by now, not to send my credit card number through any email. It feels like prison using there interface. Matter of fact, I feel uncomfortable being associated with this paranoid company. They make me believe the first sign of security breech and they are going to panic. So, I am going to somewhere else and leave this one alone. I notice that mail.com is the exact same interfere so I immediately closed this account a few minutes after being accepted.
So I opened two accounts, one for my mom, and later, one for myself.
My mom's account had no problems for about a year, then one day, 1200 spam messages, all in english and my mom doesn't speak english, never sent a mail in that language, never gave her address to people who spoke it either.
My account had worse luck, I got locked out after a couple of days due to "suspicious activity", contacted support, they said the account would remain blocked.
I had linked my social media accounts to that one, it was a nightmare switching everything elsewhere again.
They have blocked me from my email. I have sent many many inquiries for assistance in getting it where I can login again... this has been going on for 3 months or more. How do you get a response from their so called "direct support"?
This past Wednesday night GMX kept logging me out automatically. That progressed to me receiving an error message that they noticed unusual activity and were blocking my account. That's it. No steps on how to resolve, nothing. I search around for contact information and find a phone number through Google search. Turns out to be some Indian guys running a scam who I foolishly gave access to my GMX account they then wanted to charge me for fixing. I didn't pay. Then looked around again on GMX site and see they only offer a contact form. Filled it out two days ago and have received only an automated response with a ticket number. This is my main business account! I am now dead in the water and will have to open a new account elsewhere and try to recreate the most important contacts. I've always hated all the ads featured on GMX along with their excruciatingly slow load up speeds, now this. With the number of customers they claim to have and net with there us NO EXCUSE for not having swift, competent technical resolutions available. No phone, no email, no NOTHING! WORST EMAIL EVER!
