I have been trying to cancel. There is no reason the company can not cancel a reservation made within a reasonable time especially in the current climate and the hotel will still be able to book the room. I will continue to advocate for a cancellation and a refund.

Update: After my post, a representative from Get a Room contacted me, listened to my concerns, and fully refunded all of my money.
My family and I booked a weekend in North Conway, NH and when we went to check in we noticed the reservation actually said Conway, AR. I thought I booked directly with the hotel but apparently it was through this third party service. I called their customer service and explained the situation to them. They denied me a " penalty waiver" and denied my request to at least get a refund for the second night's stay. I have read a few other reviews on this website with the same type of reservation error. I would not recommend doing business with them at all.

Called for unpublished rates. And service member seemed to have just woke up from a deep sleep with slurs speech and incorrect read back when verifying what I was looking for. Unsatisfactory because I repeated what I needed 5 times with incorrect read back from service member so I just trying again online.

Getaroom has by far THE WORST Customer Service I have ever dealt with. When I was looking at booking my room it had said their was a zero cancellation charge but after I confirmed my reservation in the very fine details it said the room was non refundable. I tried to call Customer Service to negotiate this and the only thing they could do was read back to me my reservation confirmation which I already had as I received the email confirmation. They were not willing to budge at all with being able to cancel. I would not use this company EVER AGAIN for booking anything.
Update: Kristin from Getaroom contacted me and we were able to resolve this. She went ahead and gave me a full refund after putting in some leg work to sort this all out. Much appreciated for making things right!

I am updating my review because getaroom.com issued me a refund. I wish it wasn't so difficult to make a change to a reservation or to cancel a reservation. I think it should be more clear when reservations are nonrefundable. That being said, I really appreciate them giving me a refund when they technically weren't required to do so.
Make sure you have the right dates and check whether your reservation is refundable or not. Just know what you're getting into before you hit the buy button. I am guessing their competitive pricing has something to do with their cancellation policy.

I asked to be booked at the Shilo Inn in Ocean Shores. Getaroom told me that Shilo was fully booked but they could put me in a different hotel. The next day when i arrived at that hotel I found it to be inferior and more expensive. I drove to the Shilo Inn to see if they had any available rooms to which Shilo replied that they were almost completely open. So I spent 58 minutes on a 3 way call with getaroom and my credit card company trying to get a refund. They told me they would refund my money, so I went and booked at Shilo. This all took place 1 1/2 months ago, and I'm still waiting for my refund!

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
