We monitor reviews for authenticity
After given a ticket case number for a refund request, I made a follow-up with Customer Care since IHG Hotel advised that they will speak to Get A Room representative or supervisor for them to start the refund process for $1,124.54. I called customer care but was handled in a very inattentive and rude behavior.
I was on the phone for an hour, placed on hold for more than 40 minutes by toggling phone buttons without getting back at me.
Condescending, unprofessional responses when I demanded to speak to his manager.
I sent an email thru *******@getaroom.com to err out my experience and follow-up on the case.
ZERO response until now. I was promised a return call from supervisor Rose - but NONE!
Currently working on escalating my concern to the business owner - BOOKING HOLDINGS!
Tried booking a room directly with Hyatt Regency San Antonio. Ending up booking a room through a third party but did not know it at all. I called 48 hours in advance to just modify my room date and they would not make any exceptions to move the date because they told me I was 5 hours late in calling them. Be cautious here.
UPDATE: Monday, May 23,2022: Getaroom.com did email me and refunded my money as a one-time exception. Thank you very much for making this refund happen as my business plans changed last minute.

We booked a hotel, and 15 minutes later when we arrived, we were literally greeted by a guy doing a drug deal in the lobby and a prostitute propositioning people. The hotel lobby was made out of old plywood, and the guy at the front "desk" was using his personal laptop to try checking us in. After that failed for a few minutes we asked if we could just cancel the booking, since he had a long line of freaky people waiting. He said no problem, the website would refund us.
Called them immediately after leaving the hotel, and they said that because I didn't get the guys name and title, they would charge me a $295 dollar cancelation fee. It has been less than 30 minutes since I booked!
Be very wary of this company. They shift blame to the hotel, which shifts blame to them, but at the end of the day, the getaroom scam is they charged the card, and refuse to provide any support or refunds.

We have been trying to get refunds from…
We have been trying to get refunds from Getaroom due to their failure in letting us know that the hotel we booked was a credit card only hotel (ours were being replaced due to fraud).
After repeated calls (in excess of 80 hours, which if you use the minimum wage has a value of 1200. 00; at my chargeout rate that time is worth 10's of thousands) we have only received a partial refund for a separate booking and being told the others have been made and that it would be credited within 5 business days.
It is now May 15th, the refund requests were made on April 18th and repeatedly after that. That is a total of 19 business days.
Well we are still waiting. We were told by our bank to obtain a tracking number for the refund so that they can do a trace.
I contacted customer service who gave me the email of the billing department who were reportedly staffed 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. I requested the tracking numbers repeatedly (merchants are required to keep refund tracking numbers by government regulation).
The only response I have received is silence.
I would not recommend in dealing with Getaroom or their parent company, Priceline. Reticence should be your watchword in dealing with these firms.

After accidentally canceling a non-refundable reservation, I called Getaroom and they helped me make a new reservation. I reached out via email and Facebook to contact their Customer Service to see if I would have the chance of getting a refund and after roughly 24-48 hours they contacted me via email and gave me the full refund on my mistake. It was completely my fault so I would have understood if they did not want to give me a refund so their kindness and generosity had me elated!

BEWARE!
I searched online for a hotel, using my smartphone, and inquired into the price of a location by opening what I thought was a link to a hotel.
Before I knew it, a confirmation was being created by GETAROOM.
I closed the app and expected the that no reservation was made.
A few days later, I saw in iCalendar that I had an upcoming reservation - I opened the email address in the calendar and was shocked that I was charged (pre-paid) for a room, to the tune of over $700.00 for two nights!
I don't stay in pricey places such as that because I am on a restricted budget and when I contacted Getaroom, they told me I was responsible for paying one-night, plus tax ($389.89).
I've been going back and forth with Getaroom, which has been troubling to say the least.
I've spoken with no less than five GETAROOM representatives to date.
It feels like they simply want to wait until you get tired of saying the same things over and over and you abandon your request for a full refund.
GETAROOM's website is organized in a manner that will charge you simply for inquiring about a price.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS WEBSITE, otherwise it could be an expensive mistake.
I will update this post if GETAROOM decides to do what is right and return the money they took in an unforthcoming (sneaky) manner.

The fact is this website is about like every other reservation website. These reviews are a disservice to users. They tend to be vapid and premature.

Be very aware using this company to book any hotel room. They charged over $200 in fees for two rooms that were $170 a night each. Once I realized what had happened I called to cancel my reservation, like any reputable site would allow you to do, and they told me there were no refunds. They'd be happy to cancel my reservation but not refund a single penny. This was after waiting on hold for over 30 minutes. I will never use this site again

Booked a room from a hotel I've been to many, many times... in error. Thought I was on the hotel's site. Realized it and called the hotel who said to call getaroom immediately to cancel. The hotel person the getaroom would often call and validate it was ok to cancel. I did call and cancel the reservation but they refused to refund my charge... within 10 minutes of the erroneous booking! They said the hotel's policy is no refunds. But that is not true. The hotel allows refunds up to 24 hours before arrival and I'm not arriving for 3 weeks. I'm going to dispute the charge with my credit card and call the NY attorney general. This is theft.

Don't use this company. They will book you into rooms that are supposed to have certain amenities that cost extra but when you get to the hotel those extras you paid for don't exist. Then they refuse to adjust your rate! We got ripped off $50.00 per night on a week ling stay.
I've called 5 times and filed 3 online inquiries about this and they refuse to call us back!
Only gave them 1 star because I had to

Called to book a room at Courtyard by Marriott in Gastonia, NC and my call NEVER went to the hotel, which I only found out when we walked into the hotel. Their calls are automatically sent to this crooked website which charges over 60% of your room rate in "taxes". When we called to complain and asked for an itemized accounting of the "taxes" we were hung up on after being on hold for 15 minutes. We called again and was then told that they cannot give us anything itemized but can tell me that the "taxes" are for their internet, phone lines, web site, cleaning fees and fees they give to the hotels. They did NOT DISCLOSE to us that they were a third party booking service. This is criminal in my opinion. I will definitely ask before I book anywhere and would NEVER STAY at a place using these vultures. I plan on letting my credit card company know as well. TAKE HEED!

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.

There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
