I attended a wedding in Michigan in August. On May 19, I went online to book a room at Lake Country Inn, New Buffalo MI. Having been burned in the past by third party vendors, I was determined to book directly with the hotel, and searched for the hotel's url. Unfortunately, my search for a "Lake Country Inn" url led me to mistakenly book a hotel with the same name in British Columbia. I discovered my mistake within the hour, and called the hotel to explain the mistake, and cancel the reservation. No problem, they said, they had a 48 hour cancelation window. But when they looked up my reservation, they informed me that I had booked through getaroom - which was a big surprise to me. The hotel said I would have to contact getaroom to cancel the reservation, so I called, and was informed that "the hotel" had a no refund policy, which was a bald faced lie. Unbelievable. It is amazing to me how good they are at hiding the fact that you are not on the hotel site, and how happy they are to steal your money.

Booking site mimics the actual hotel and does not clearly identify themselves as 3rd party booking.
Double the cost advertised for a 2 day stay off season at a La Quinta and upcharged additional $500 total bill $1545. Xx for a 2 night stay. Canceled within 15 mins of the emailed receipt. Called hotel direct and booked for less than half the cost. The hotel hadn't received the "getaroom" booking (probably because it was cancelled immediately) getaroom still not refunding my $1545. Xx
The receipt cancelation is NOT from La Quinta, it is getarooms (full charge with cancelation within 15 mins)
Avoid this business. I cannot imagine anyone using them or working there. I would feel terrible all the time if I did this to others.

I am so pissed at your company. I searched google to get the actual hotel and was misled because this site came up on google pretending to be the actual hotel. I then got charged more than 60% in extra "fees" over the list price, the excess charges were at least $100 more than booking with the hotel directly (I checked this on-line when I found out I had been misled). I consider this FRAUD! I called get a room back 1 minute after booking to cancel when I saw the excessive charges, and wasn't able to... this is truly poor and deceptive business practice.

Not going to lie i really did like the customer service while booking until i was told that my total price included resort fees and deposit fee which they did not. I asked my agent multiple times are these all the fees just to make sure it was in my budget just to find out I have to pay almost 100 more when I get to resort. I very upset because I was so excited especially for the help of thinking I got a very good deal and when I called customer service they stated they can not pull a RECORED call. I really hope I get a response from the consumer soon.

My hotel was booked in the wrong state. It was suppose to be Washington and it was Maryland instead. 3000 miles away. Four minutes after booking it they would not let me change it to a closer hotel. No refund either. Nothing. Too bad. Even though the email says I can make changes until tomorrow morning at 10 am.

Tried booking room directly with Wyndham but got redirected to getaroom. Booked room on 10/9:22 for a one night stay on 9/22/22. Room was $87. After booking I was told due to short notice of booking it would be non refundable. After that I was told tax and "additional fees" brought the total to $140.! If this isn't a scam I don't know what you would call it!

Do not use this website. They are terrible in their customer service. They are deceptive. They lie. They are the worst of the worst. When the hurricane hit Florida and my plans got cancelled (the airport was shut down) they refused to cancel and refund my money. I cannot tell you in strong enough terms - do not do business with this company!

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
