They cancelled my prepaid reservations and claimed I cancelled it, I did not, and they can not supply proof that I did cancel it. The cancellation notice states in writing "no cancel fee charged" but they refuse to refund my money. Never, ever use this service!
I tried booking a hotel in NYC through them. I was given a price, and entered my credit card information. After they took my information, they sent me a bill for a completely different price. The price went from around $500 to over $1,000. They added loads of extra fees and an extra day. I immediately contacted them to cancel. They refused to cancel. I continued to complain, and a supervisor said she would contact the hotel to see if they would cancel my room and issue me a refund. After a few days, getaroom emails me saying that the hotel would not refund nor cancel my reservation. I checked on the hotel's website, and the hotel says that they allow cancellations up to 24 hours before the check-in date. I was seeking a cancellations 20 days prior to the check-in date.
I contacted the hotel to see if getaroom.com had ever tried to contact them. The hotel had no record of any contact from getaroom.com.
My credit card company has been trying to get in contact with getaroom.com, but they won't respond to my credit card company.
This place is a scam. AVOID!
Be careful - it looks as though you are booking on the hotel site but you are not! Did a search for a reservations but the booking site requires you to enter you payment info (as many other sites do) to get to what I was expecting to be a final screen to place the reservation. Realizing that I had a incorrect date, I used my back screen button to leave the page and start over. Unfortunately, I did not realize that once you enter final info, the reservations are made! Did not receive a confirmation of the first reservation until I had already made the 2nd reservation and ended up with two reservations! Tried to call customer service within 15 minutes of placing the reservations and was placed on hold for over 30 minutes. When I did get through, they would not cancel the first reservation without charging me for an additional night! Stay clear!
Really bad service. Having booked and paid for hotel in Hawaii I get a message 1 week before travelling they contact me to say they have overbooked hotel and resevervation cancelled. Manage at late notice to find alternative I miles away from friends and location. Would not use again.
Looking for a hotel for next Friday. Website refreshed my dates and booked me in NYC for TONIGHT... it is 6:00 pm, this is clearly an error and they are refusing to refund my money. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL
Best price guarantee only applies to base room rate. Charged me $47.00 more than Travelocity in fees. I'll never use Get a Room again. Terrible.
They hacked into a hotel website I was booking, took it over, turned a $340 room into a $490 room. Canceled and they charged me the total amount. Refused to even reinstate the reservation. The hotel said it was made through Expedia. COMPLETE SCAM. AVOID AVOID AVOID. I am going to sue for my money back.
I was actually trying to book through the hotel's site directly, but getaroom.com basically spoofed the url. When the room was reserved, I saw that they charged more than $110 more than the room quote! I immediately called the number on the reservation, and no one answered (go figure). I tried 5 more times and then Google the hotel for another number, the hotel answered immediately and had no record of the transaction. The manager said that they had been completely booked for overy a week and I was not the first person to call having this problem.
I ended up having to book another hotel and get a refund from my credit card.
Please spare yourself the headache and book directly through a hotel or use a reputable company like Orbitz (or similar).
Getaroom is 100% ripoff. There are hidden fees and ridiculous cancellation policies. I booked a room for 2 nights and was over charged 230.00. When the hotel told me to cancel, and they would make a new reservation, getaroom refused to cancel the reservation without charging me one nights stay at their rate. 212.00. Not only was I over charged 230.00, I paid 138.00 in hidden charges and fees. It's a scam. Buyer Bewarw
The hotel I originally booked closed permanently and Getaroom arranged a replacement hotel, however we were not pleased with the replacement so we booked a different hotel which was more expensive. When I called to officially cancel the original reservation, I asked for a discount on my new reservation and was told that I would be given a 20% discount after I had checked in at my hotel-all that would be required was a phone call. I called, and very conveniently, they had no record of my conversation and refused to give me the discount.
I will not be using their company again.
Having arranged the travel arrangements for both sets of parents on the 30th July for my birthday weekend, the weekend was literally ruined by GetARoom's incompetence and double booking.
It has taken me almost eight weeks to finally get one set of parents payments refunded (plus a pitiful £50 compensation), but I'm still getting nowhere for the other set and none of the contact telephone numbers work... COMPLETE SCAM.
Never in my experience has a hotel booking been so terribly handled and the sheer lack of compassion to a weekend being ruined for a family who had literally driven hours to get there, to only be told, 'sorry there's a double booking, nothing we can do - goodbye' is disgusting.
Both parents, in their 70's, had driven for hours to get to us for my birthday weekend - they wasted a further three hours at the hotel (Hilton Warwick/Stratford) trying to fathom what had gone wrong, none of the staff were helpful and the Hilton generally had absolutely no idea of the bookings.
By the time it was clear there was no solution being offered, they came back to me exhausted and then spent another goodness knows how many hours driving home. Do they have any idea how much upset and sadness this caused? I couldn't stop crying, nor could my mother - having not being able to see her for months. My father was over from New Zealand and again I possibly get to see him once every couple of years, so being able to spend a little precious time with them was what we'd all been looking forward to for a long long time.
Get A Room had completely ruined our weekend and I'm disgusted by the lack of compassion and empathy by the company and feel that a pitiful £50 compensation for one set of parents is a further insult to injury.
Eight weeks later and this nightmare to get the money for the other set of parents continues... DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM - THEY WILL CONFIRM YOUR BOOKING EVEN WHEN DOUBLE BOOKED!
Booked two rooms via getaroom.com. Hotel was unfit for purpose. They refused a refund even after I supplied photographic evidence. I had not realised this is a US based company. It cost me £20 for the phonecall, staff unhelpful. I booked in Sterling, paid in Sterling then they charged me £7 to convert to USD. Avoid this booking agent.
I WILL NEVER BOOK WITH THEM EVER AGAIN. I WAS SO EXCITED TO HAVE A FAMILY VACATION AND BOOK WITH THEM THE AGENT TOLD ME THAT MY BOOKING WAS A 100 PERCENT REFUNDABLE WELL THEY LIE. THEY KEPT MY HARD WORKING MONEY AND NOW I SO EEWWWWHEN IT COMES TO BOOKING. I DONT HAVE ANY MONEY TO BE THROWING AROUND NEVER AGAIN WITH GETAROOM. COM
I booked through them (without even realizing it) and hit the wrong date. When I tried to rectify the error by calling they told me they would cancel and reissue the correct dates. Then they hung up on me. I tried using the automated system and got a bull$#*! non answer. Then I called again and they said they had no way to help this situation. I cancelled the reservation and rec'd a bill for the full amount. I am disputing this with my cc company and hope to get some resolution. The sad part is I would have stayed with them if they had just corrected my wrong click problem. I hope someone can pull the plug on these con artists.
This company is MIND BLOWING! They booked the wrong hotel for my son & now will not refund his money ($525.88) I have never dealt with such a horrible company all the way around. I have spent over 5 hours begging for a refund. The last time I called to speak to someone in reference to his refund he hung up on me. I can't put it any other way... THEY STOLE MY SONS MONEY! Period... Please do not use this company I can 100% guarantee you will regret this.
I accidentally booked through get a room via the phone thinking I was booking through the hotel directly. I was charger $400 for a $180 room. When I called to have this issue resolved I was out on the phone with someone who was not a native English speak, therefore the communication was very poor! After asking for a supervisor several time the man told me to "watch my language or he will hang up"? And continued to refuse transferring me to a supervisor. After having my card charged for over $200 more than the valise of the room I had to go to my bank and disputed the charge since get a room decided "there was nothing they can do". This is an absolutely horrible website and you must beware even when calling the hotel directly because I was actually transferred to them when I thought I was calling the hotel. I don't understand how they are still in business!
I felt it very friendly and homely while staying there. It was really awesome to have the cordial behavior from the staff there. I love it.
Recently our daughter suddenly passed away and we had to cancel upcoming plans to an event in Boston. After an exhausting hour on he phone with various representatives from getaroom I was directed to a supervisor named Debbie. She was very helpful in getting me a full refund and was very compassionate to our situation. I would like to thank her for all she did for us.

My husband and I booked our hotel to Bermuda through getaroom.com. There had been a mistake in booking and they had us checking out a day early. When I had called customer service they were extremely unhelpful. I had been passed around from department to department. After explaining to a customer service representative for the 4th time that there had been a mistake and we would like to stay for one more night for the same rate; I was hung up on. Finally calling back again and getting through to a supervisor named Josephine she had explained to me that I can only have the room for one more night for triple the price I was already paying. Even our hotel agreed to honor the price I was originally paying if a representative from getaroom.com would confirm that. However Josephine the supervisor refused. I'm extremely unsatisfied with getaroom.com. I would not recommend anyone book through them.
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
