Will NEVER use this company again. Hotel charge was $200 LESS than getaroom charged us. Of coarse, NO refund.
We reseved a hotel room through getaroom and they didn't send any Information to the hotel. When called, they put us on the phon for more than an hour. We will never use them and we don't recomend anyone to use them. They are the worst..
First time I ever used get a room and it will be the last. I was charged one amount on my credit card and when I received the receipt from the hotel it was almost $70 cheaper. I contacted getaroom sent them copies of my credit card statement and the paperwork from the hotel which clearly showed it was cheaper than what they charged me. They told me that the hotel gave me an incorrect bill and I wasn't supposed to see the cheaper charge they refused to refund me the difference. I will never use get a room again and I do not recommend anyone else to use them.
This company is a complete scam. The Getaroom Supervisor agreed with the Hotel Rep to modify my dates. Getaroom then charged me the full price and refused to refund the amount after I contacted them several times with the Hotel Rep on the phone. They have horrible customer service and I will never use their service again. I will also be reporting this information to the Better Business Bureau. Scammers by every definition of the word.
After reading all the very bad reviews left by other for this particular hotel chain, I decided to leave my own. I can only speak for the location that I stayed at as they are independently owned. The room I was given at the location in Athens, Alabama was clean, seemed fairly recently redone, the staff was courteous and I was given a rate that was acceptable for what I received. If I were passing back through and needed a room, I would not have a problem staying there. Again, I can only speak for the place I stayed.
WE MADE RESERVATION FOR HANDICAP ROOM.
ON ARRIVAL, DESKCLERK HAD CHALLENGE SIGNING US IN.
APPARENTLY NOT FAMILAR WITH COMPUTER.
OPENED DOOR TO ROOM, DISTINCT ODOR OF SKUNK.
USED TOILET.
TOILET WOULD NOT FLUSH.
ROOM WAS DANK AND FELT DAMP.
ASKED EMPLOYEE HOW TO USE PHONE. NO INSTRUCTIONS. EMPLOYEE (FROM INDIA) SAID "PUSH BUTTON!
WENT TO OFFICE, REPORTED TO CLERK.
CLERK SAID "I WILL GIVE YOU BETTER ROOM."
I GAVE CLERK THE KEY AND LEFT.
I CONTACTED MY CHARGE CARD TO CANCEL TRANSACTION.
My husband was supposed to go with me to Dallas on a trip. I had texted that day to see whether not he was still going and found this hotel room for a reasonable price for four days. After waiting over an hour for him to contact me back I booked a hotel 10 minutes after he contacted me and told me he was going. I immediately cancel the reservation and they would not refund my money. I was out $600. Do not book with them!
I was hijacked onto their site while booking a room at the Godfrey hotel in Boston
I had no idea that I was even on getaroom. Com
They charged 197.67 in fees to book a two night stay at the Godfrey
The fee, according to the Godfrey should have been 70 dollars
Getaroom.com would not adjust the fees
They lied to me as well telling me it was the hotels fault
Beware!
Left two days early and was not allowed to cancel. SCAM! If I would have just used the hotel it would have been much easier. So glad I did not cancel the whole trip. Just another pass through the night scams. Wish I would have checked the reviews. Go figure this was just a Motel 6.
We booked a room on June 5 2017 rates looked good until we hit confirm. Hit me with a $200.00 service fee for booking on line with them. Cost was suppose to to $470 for 2 nights on river walk will not say what hotel. But cost me $670.00 Rip Off will never use again.
I booked a hotel in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, for 4 nights through getaroom.com. After I booked I read the reviews here and was terrified. The majority of the problems I saw that worried me were 1) The hotel didn't receive the booking, 2) The booking was not all-inclusive even though the web site said it was, and 3) At check-in time it was found that the room hadn't been paid for as the credit card getaroom used had been declined and the customer had to spend an hour on the phone straightening it out. I'm happy to say I experienced NONE of these issues. After reading the reviews, I called the hotel directly to confirm that they had the booking. They did. I asked them to confirm if it was all-inclusive for me, my wife, and my daughter. It was. Upon arriving at the hotel I checked in without any issues regarding the payment. Upon leaving I checked out without any added fees. A flawless experience. Just wanted to give my positive review since I saw so many negative ones!
We came to Boston for a family member for a heart procedure. She should have been in the hospital for 5 days so we booked a motel for 5 nights. The hospital couldn't do the procedure so she didn't have to stay in the hospital. Tried to cancel the room booking and they did allow us to cancel but with a hefty penalty! They steal money from hardworking people!
NEVER BOOK THROUGH GETAROOM.COM!
I too thought I was dealing directly with the hotel and booked 3 nights at ALoft Hotel in Asheville, NC. The total was $930.90 for 3 nights. A few days later joined the hotels rewards club and noted I could save 10% as a member. So I cancelled the $930.90 reservation and rebooked the same nights for $860.45... thinking I was saving $70.
I cancelled my first reservation, or I thought I did. Received my Visa bill today and there was a charge of $930.90. My first thought was there must be a mix up and will be easy to correct. When I called the *******578 to question the charge, thinking I was calling ALoft Hotel. Low and behold I was calling getaroom.com.
Like others, I had no idea I was booking through getaroom.com! Now for the badd news... getaroom.com has a non-refundable policy! It is in the fine print "calling it the hotel's policy."
I made two different phone calls trying to get a refund. Nope. They are going to stick me with the $930.90 charge! Never heard of such a policy. So, when I thought I was going to save $70. Now it is going to cost me $930.90+$860.45= $1,791.35 for the three nights at the ALoft in Asheville!
We do apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your feedback. May we have your reservation # to have one of our customer care agents contact you. Thank you Getaroom.com
This so-called hotel room reservation "service", provided me with heaps of frustration, expense, and customer dissatisfaction. Their "non-refundable" room tactics, and disguise, is not Hotel Industry standard. Their dissatisfied customer resolution escalation process is offensive. The system in place is a scam and they have covers in to take advantage of trusting and vulnerable clients simply looking to Get-A-Room. Be AWARE. Call hotel directly! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!
I googled our choice of hotel and found a website I thought was the hotel site. Absolutely NO indication they were an agency. I then phoned the number on this website and a very nice lady booked 5 nights. She then offered to book more hotels. Although I checked out 3 times if she was an agency, she denied. The second hotel she was excited to pass on that the hotel was offering a special deal and I could get the room for under $100 a night. False information!. I paid for three hotels by credit card and was promised the confirmation details by e-mail. No confirmations came. A week later when I called the first hotel, they could not find my booking but with further digging told me I had booked through getaroom.com.
I phoned getaroom.com and asked for the three hotel confirmations. Only the first confirmation arrived. Much to my surprise, as a Canadian, booking a Canadian hotel, I was charged American dollars. Next I called getaroom.com and asked for a supervisor. Long wait. The supervisor affirmed that yes they were an American agency and the second hotel booked they had charged me not the $303.00 I had been told but that they had me booked for three rooms for three nights at $994.00 a room. I was able to cancel all three rooms on the spot.
To make a longer story shorter, further complications ensued and I spoke to three different supervisors, was put on hold for at least 2 hours all told and it took three days of transactions to resolve the issues.
Be aware, they are deceptive in representing hotels and if you have a problem,. The support is lacking and dismissive. NEVER use this agency.
I booked and paid online with this company for hotel room but when we got to the hotel they didn't have a room for us and than said nothing to do with them ring the agent which we tried to do, we couldnt get an answer so emailed them who said we could have money back but would take 5 working days there was no apologies no travel expenses and waited 5 days for return of money. So we traveled 3 hours to hotel and 3 hours back to home as everywhere was booked as it was a bank holiday terrible experience.
This site it the worst! I got charged by both GetARoom and the hotel I stayed at. Get a room charged me $100 more than the hotel's actual cost (hotel gave me a receipt when i checked out - hence the double charge). When i confronted GetARoom about the double charge and the extra $100 they charged they were unapologetic and rude on the phone. Not willing to help out. Once they have your money you are OUT OF LUCK. Avoid Avoid Avoid.
The agents misrepresent who they are and once you give a credit card number you will not get your money back. Highly unethical.
We booked a room in Venice, then found out we had to pay upfront, this was the only reservation that this occurred, then when we tried to modify the reservation, the hotel told us because we booked with a third party and not the hotel directly, we had to work with getaroom, when trying to contact gataroom in Europe all I got was a foreign speaking contact, I do not speak Italian, in the future I will always book directly with the hotels.
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
