First time using this service. Saved a bunch of money and the website is very helpful. I'll update after our stay.
I was booking on kayak and didn't realize I was sent to getaroom. Booked the room and then looking at reservation 5 minutes later realized they had wrong dates for reservation. I contacted the site and canceled the reservation as they had no rooms for the date I needed. They sent a email that said canceled no fee. But did not refund my room cost. Sent to credit card company but getaroom disputed and I am out $218 for no room!
If you want to get ripped off, use this site! I was also a victim of the added price change after you book a room. Thank God I only got stuck for 1 night! Per the hundreds of bad reviews, there are worse off people than me! You are quoted a room price and when you agree to it, there is a Huge room tax fee added on and they refuse to refund your money when you call them out on it!
Their webs sight is very confusing. I cancelled a reservation on their web sight and rebooked it because it included breakfast. So as I was looking at my reservation I accidentally cancelled it. This was in dispute for 2 weeks and they told me I was out of $734 USD. They sold me the hotel had already taken my money and I called the hotel and they could not find any reservations with my name on it. I got scared that I would not have a room when I showed up in Italy so I booked directly with the hotel.
I thought I was booking through the hotel website and instead received my email notification from getaroom.com with my confirmations and $200 in "service charges and fees attached". Thy refuse to refund or price match the actual hotel site they apparently rerouted me from. Filing dispute with my credit card company
Our stay on the Queen Mary was a lot of fun. We took our grandsons for a special trip. The only issue was I called the day prior to make sure that my reservation was intact. My reservation was booked in the wrong month. GetARoom came to the rescue and made sure the reservation was corrected.
Do not use this website! Got to our hotel and no room! Had to wait for hours while manager talked to these people before we got a room!
Will not give refunds for cancellation even tho over 1 month in advance, charged 60 dollars for"extra people". Rip off, scam stay away from this company. Bad. Not sure how or why they are in business.
This site and maybe not all of the people who work for it are deceiving, and then hang up on you when they know you make a valid point and point out their bad! I was told when booking the hotel through them that the total fee's would be $487 for 4 days. I asked 3-4 times with my wife listening if these were the TOTAL fees that I was being quoted, over and over again they said yes! When I asked about any hidden hotel fees, I was told that the price quoted was the only amount owed! So I booked it and thanked her and she sent me the confirmation email. When I got it, it stated what she had told me, the final amount would be $487 for 4 days! When I turned over the 2 page I was shocked to read that the hotel may include a separate fee for as much as $150 or more as a "Hotel Fee" per room, per stay! I was outraged for have been mislead, and called back to the site and talked to the girl there. She started out being nice, and even apologized for the confusion of the booking information, but then flat said "Sorry we don't refund and that's our policy" She told me they only deal with the room price only... I told her it was deceptive not to tell booking customers about ALL the fee's being charged
By any hotel that was being booked, as they are aware of these hotel charges and that their practices bordered on fraud, she didn't want to talk about it anymore and hung up! NO Customer satisfaction or refund! By reading the 400+ other people dissatisfied with their attitude and business practices, I guess I'm not allow in saying I WILL NEVER use this dishonest, deceiving site again! As for the woman who decided to Hang up on me and I am guessing others, You won't be working in this Hotel resort field much longer...
Tried to book a hotel room, entered personal details, credit card number; transaction failed, money refunded. Contacted customer service, was assured no reservation have been processed.
So far so good.
2 days later, I checked my loyalty account for that hotel's chain: found a new res. Placed on by behalf by a unknown OTA. Glad I checked, otherwise I would be billed as a no-show...
Again contacted getaroom: they say the OTA was able to capture a reservation despite it seemingly failed... How secure is this?
My first and last experience with getaroom.
I was searching for a specific hotel on my phone, and this number came up. I called it and realized it was a booking service, and not the actual hotel, but did not realize that it was a totally separate organization. When I figured out the prices quoted were in USD I was surprised. It's high season though and I was booking almost last minute so I agreed to a price that was higher than what I was hoping to spend.
The shock came when the booking was sent to me and there was a $60 USD surcharge that I did not agree to. I figured it was a mistake. I ended up paying $116 USD for the room $60 in surcharges, That's $230 CAD for a crappy Howard Johnson's room that should have been $80 CAD. I called to complain and was put on hold for 25 minutes so I hung up. Pretty sure they put you on hold on purpose and wait for you to give up.
It was easy and straightforward process. Everything was clearly described. Quick and easy. We all have lots of options to choose but Tripadvisor with getaroom feature works great.
It was under construction kinda messy but exciting. The front desk clerk was shown my confirmation he said it told him nothing to give my last name. Did that got to the room had some left over food in fridge called for a clean up. They came took out the food cleaned it up. Nice stay had a minor situation would stay again.
This company is Unconscionable and desperate and greedy. Instead of booking directly, their website popped up and I booked with them. Within the hour, I asked to rescind the reservation and they would not. I now have to contact our legal department to dispute. It's the principal. And I would have used them for personal reservations had they been the least bit accommodating.
It is cheap and you get what you pay for. Our "room" was a single dorm room w/o wifi. They did not clean the room or change out the towels. But again, cheap.
Called the 800 # for the hotel and got transferred to another. They inferred that I was talking to a rep. From hilton. She quotes me a price of $150.69 taxes included for a 2 Queen bed suite at the Comfort Inn and Suites. Told me I had to prepay because my reservation was for the next day and no refund. I got a email confirmation for a total price of $172.69. The room was 1 King bed. I did not realize I was dealing with a 3rd party for booking until I disputed the price and room with the clerk at the hotel. She told me that this happens often, apologized, and recommended I make sure in the future to only book with hotel directly
I needed to modify my booking and they gave myself and my husband the run around. We knew very well they had no intention of assisting us in modifying our hotel booking despite saying they would. They were condescending and in the end, our booking was never modified.
I did a search online to find a hotel in Canada. I found what looked just like the hotel site, called the number and the rep answered with the hotel name. At no time during the call did they identify themselves as a 3rd party. Once I made the reservation and was still on the phone (with who I thought was the hotel); I realized I had asked to book the wrong day. I asked them to change the date to the following week. Now again, I am still on the original call. The rep on the phone gave me the run a round, said they had to leave becuase their shift was over and they transfered me to another person. After 2 hours on the phone, first with the second rep and then a supervisor, they still charged me for the original hotel rooms stating their was a no refund policy since they were a third party. I was decieved and cheated. I always ask now when making reservations if I am speaking to a third party or the actual hotel. Shame on the companies that prey on people with their schemes!
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
