Made my reservation on Thursday and they told me it could take up to 72 hours to show up in the hotels system. It is now TUESDAY and the hotel still does not see my reservation in their system and my stay is for TOMORROW. They won't let me cancel without still getting charged so I have to wait until I get to the day of and if they never get my reservation THEN they will refund me. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL.
Found a very good price on a decent hotel room for the night, two nights in a row. Check in and check out at the hotel was very smooth.
Booked through trip advisor and I guees they put me through these guys and of course I show up to the hotel and find out I have a single bed room when I wanted a triple king. Now I'm out my money for 3 business days and stuck finding a hotel st 7pm cause it took 2 hours to get a response of, sorry but the hotel is not honoring the reservation! So if you think using trip advisor instead of this scamming company think again cause they are the same people.
Booked a room for 10/5 and when arrived at hotel reservation was for 10/15. Hotel was full and was told this happens often with this site.
I was very satisfied with my booking experience. They were very helpful. They helped me find a Hotel close to where I needed to be
Reserved a room at what I thought was Marriott. Go to check my reservation tonight and find out it was getaroom.com with an additional 198.00 in tax above what I thought I was paying. Called company and talked to a Brian who was totally rude and said there was no refunds. This man should be fired... very arrogant like He was happy He ripped people off. He refused to let me speak with a supervisor. Called c. C company to dispute and they said they have had several reports about this company... how can they legally tap into a legit website and pretend they are them... reporting to bb as well
Just received a response from GetARoom who told me the have spoken to James at the Westin multiple times and he denied the refund each time. They also state that the Westin has in fact received payment. I immediately called James at the Westin who informed me that he had been off duty on Sunday and Monday and just came back to work today. He emphatically stated that he had had NO communication with GetARoom or anyone else regarding this issue. Furthermore he stated that he has no authority to determine whether or not a reservation is no refundable. I have no reservation for a room, and the Westin would not give me a room if I showed up at their facility as they have no payment. Everything I was told was a lie... not a thread of truth. Fraudulent. Scammers. Thieves
GetARoom responded and told me it was the hotels policy to not refund payment for canceling and for me to contact the hotel manager at the Westin. I dis so and discovered: 1) the hotel has no such policy, 2) I have no reservation at this hotel, and the hotel has received no payment from GetARoom. Ive been scammed and need resolution. I am a senior citizen on Social Security and can not afford to lose $1057!
We called the Hilton Reservation number obtained from an Embassy Suite web site and was connected to a person we could barely understand. I asked if she was an Embassy Suite Reservation employee and she responded "yes" which was a LIE. After 30 exasperating minutes we finally get a reservation and then called the hotel to double check on the confirmation number. Seems the reservation was placed by GETAROOM.COM at much higher rate than if through Hilton and the confirmation number given to us was incorrect so we would have had hell checking in. We also were charged a $12.99 separate transaction fee which I questioned during the process. I was told this is a new "Hilton" fee but actually was by GETAROOM.COM. Another LIE!
We are reporting GETAROOM.COM to our credit card processing institution and to Hilton as frauds and a dishonest company. Hopefully this review will save others from the trap set by GETAROOM.COM.
Was recently ripped off by get a room. Booked a hotel room for 5 days totalling $1404' was charged $2080 by get a room
Refund was cancelled with no penalty applied (as per my confirmation emails and the getaroom.com reservation confirmation page) yet my account was not refunded. I called customer service and I am still fighting for the refund and they told me it was handled by Expedia. Way to ship your calls overseas and then pass the buck to Expedia.
The reservation experience with Diana Rosenthal was fantastic but the rest of the company services are terrible.
Received update today that they are going to refund the cancellation fee that was assessed before I even booked. They said it takes 3-5 days to process. To be continued.
This just happened today so I'm waiting to see how it plays out. I am most likely out 105.75 but we shall see. I was in a hurry and trying to book for our annual Christmas ski trip. I thought I was on the resorts webpage. It looked like their webpage. I was having some trouble getting it to do what I needed so I picked up the phone and called the number displayed on the page. I deduced fairly quickly that I wasn't speaking directly to the resort but I was assured they were a authorized booking agent. Went over the details, picked the room I wanted, got the cancellation details by the agent and booked. They charge all 3 days on my cards which they said they were going to do. Confirmation came via e-mail. I took a good look at and was stunned to find out that my cancelation policy of 12/21 was in fact 12/21/2016 which is 10 months ago. I had till 10 months ago to cancel something I booked today to avoid a 105.75 fee. The first calll I made was to the actual hotel. They informed me that getaroom is not one of their authorized agents. They also told me they had no record of me having a reservation and if they took my money I should be in their system already. Finally and most shockingly I was told there is no way anyone could have booked me a 3 night stay that week. The minimum stay for that week is 4 nights. I booked the 4 nights directly with the hotel which had a better room and was $300 less than my 3 night Getaroom booking. My next call was to Getaroom. I said I need to cancel. Was put on hold for a very long time. I said I was going to stay on the line till I got an emailed cancellation notice. It came and sure enough the cancellation fee was taken out of the refund amount. I said that I was not informed that I would have to pay that fee no matter what. When I specifically asked the rep the cancellation policy she said you have till 12/21. I said unacceptable and asked for escalation. I was told my complaint was escalated to some other dept to see if they could waive that fee. My next call was to my credit card comapany to disput the whole transaction. I have read on other sites where people have booked with this company only to show up to no room. Because of the hotel's min 4 night policy I am certain that would have been my experience. 2 hours waisted on this today and I have more follow up on the dispute and changing my credit card. BOTTOM LINE BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN BOOKING ON-LINE. EVEN THE WEB ADDRESS MADE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS DEALING DIRECT WITH THE HOTEL.
An extra $95 charge, called "Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees" was added to my bill. For what? Total rip-off!
I thought that I was booking through the hotel website and the reservation was hijacked by Get a Room. When I checked out, noticed excess fee ($63.77) on $139 room charge. Immediately discussed with assistant manager who on my behalf is doing everything she can to complain through multiple sources to put them out of business. Hotel was embarrassed by being hijacked.
Will be contacting BBB and any other place to stop this company. Be careful when you make any reservation and stay away from GET A ROOM - CROOKS
I went to what I thought was the hotel's website. Because of the way these people present themselves, it looked that way. I found out AFTER I booked and paid that there was a $59 recovery fee assessed to my $128 room. I called immediately to deal with it but was told there was nothing they could do since it was a non-refundable room. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she refused to get one for me. After I refused to hang up and kept badgering her to do something she finally agreed to process a one time courtesy refund of the recovery fee but I would have to wait until AFTER my stay to get this refund. That made no sense at all but she would not budge. Then told me I could respond to some email if I wanted a supervisor. No one has called yet. She had a heavy accent and was difficult to understand. I have never dealt with these people before but I will go out of my way to avoid them. I have booked online for years with no one ever charging a fee, much less one that is 46% of the actual cost of the room.
Never use this site.
I booked a reservation and had to cancel it due to the hurricane.
They would not refund my money.
When I tried to talk to a manger - Michael told me to send an email. I said I want to speak to a manger and all he kept saying was is there anything else I can help you with.
I will never use this site again and I will make sure everyone I know does not.
They are deplorable.
I evacuated my mobile home for Irma. I called the number for Rosen hotel because they were supposed to have special hurricane rates. I got getaroom without knowing it. The agent didn't identify himself but said Rosen was full but Quality Suites had rooms for $62.00 I was in a panic and booked the room. The room charge was $186 plus $86. I realized later that taxes should have been about $24.00 So I was charged about $60 more. I have used other online services like Priceline and never had such a fee-it negates the room deal. Getaroom is dishonest and should not be used by anyone. I don't understand how they can stay in business. Alice Meyers
Made booking for business trip for my boss & colleague. Eventually upon their arrival at the hotel, hotel staff confirmed that there is NO reservation done from GetaRoom at all.
Tried to call all the numbers available from the website, but non of them existed.
No immediate help desk at all.
What a GREAT service!
Emailed them regarding this is issue and asked for refund, but only gotten auto reply. Nothing more.
The price that was quoted was not the price we paid they charged us over $200 for a three night stay just for taxes and "service charges"!
A three day stay cost us $695 - when the room price listed was $119 a night!
I tried to contact the customer service department- they NEVER responded-
I talked to someone at their 800 number- basically was told over and over - NO SUPERVISOR available to speak to - NO REFUND POLICY!
DO NOT USE THIS SITE!
Learned my lesson! NEVER again!
So I write this as I am on hold (for the second time now for 23 minutes) waiting to cancel a reservation I booked less than an hour ago for a stay 6 weeks from this date. Get a Room representatives have now told me twice that they spoke with the hotel reservations and blamed them for not wanting to cancel my booking. When I called the hotel they show no notes that anyone has called in reference to my reservation. Bottom line is I made the mistake of not noticing I was not booking with the hotel directly and was actually booking on Get-a-Room.com/Priceline. If you are interested in paying for service and having a positive experience in the event of an innocent mistake use ANYBODY else. Get-a-room stood by their cancellation policy and charged me half of my booking and I got nothing. Please remember I called 5 minutes after booking to cancel. They are a complete joke when it comes to customer service! Never again for me.
BE AWARE! We just arrived to check into our 5-star hotel, after a long trip, booked and confirmed on their Website, with confirmation email guaranteeing the room, and the hotel said they had no booking for us. The hotel produced a letter they had received from Getaroom saying they were relocating us to a hotel far outside of town because there was no availability. No one from Getaroom ever bothered to tell us that, we were informed by the apologetic hotel staff who received the bizarre letter. If we book a room at a hotel we should have reasonable expectation of being reserved a room at THAT hotel, not one miles from town which we did not choose! And if there are changes to our reservation we would expect to be communicated BEFORE we arrive to check in. They sent that letter to the hotel several days before, but decided to not communicate that to us so we could change our travel plans accordingly, in a show of disrespect and disdain for their customers. What a bunch of no good scammers, completely ruined our trip through Europe. We will never do business with this disreputable and crooked company again. Book through them at your own risk, and don't expect to get a room at the hotel you actually booked for.
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
