I bought a GE electric dryer three years ago, it was brand new. In that amount of time I have had six, yes six timer knobs break. After calling customer service parts, asking if there was a new and improved version of the timer knob, the representative told me he didn't know, and there is nobody that he knew of to ask that question. As I said in the title of my review, beware of any and all GE appliances. You end up sinking more money into it than you ever thought he would in a lifetime

I've had GE washing machines since 1980, three to be exact. I was very satisfied with the first two and bought a third when the second finally gave out. This will be the last GE appliance I will ever buy. It has never cleaned the laundry very well which means some loads are run a second time. The timer control allows the machine to continue to run through the cycles(water only) when the top is up which is a horrible design flaw. I have written GE twice about my concerns and have never received a reply. They obviously don't care about their customer's satisfaction with their products. No more dealings with GE for me.

Recently purchased a new GE Refrigerator from Home Depot. Upon delivery I inspected the unit and did not see any issues. On the second day after delivery, one side starting bowing and warping. I contacted GE Cares from the owners manual, and after an appointment was set for a service tech to come out they tried to charge me a $99 service fee for a brand new appliance that is of course under warranty. After arguing with the customer service rep for 10 minutes, she finally relented and agreed to waive the fee. The service tech came out and said that the issue is most likely caused by improperly applied insulation and that nothing could be done to repair it. The tech also stated that I would be contacted for follow up but all I received was an automated call asking if my appliance was running. I next contacted Consumer Affairs at GE, the rep proceeded to tow the company line and state that this is a cosmetic issue and that this type of issue is not covered by GE. Despite reminding the rep that GE manufactured the product, the rep was insistent that GE has no liability and the rep stated that Home Depot is responsible for any issues since they obtain the units from GE. This is also not the first time I have had problems with a GE product. The policy of GE is crystal clear: They do not care about their products after they are sold, and they will not follow up or back up their products if any issues arise. My advice: Look elsewhere to manufacturers who have a good track record of supporting their products.

The answer is "nowhere". I found the part I needed, made the order and received a receipt. At no point did the word "backordered" appear in this process. When I went out to check the order status, then I found out the part was backordered. Thanks a lot GE.

A word of advice: don't do business with these deceptive jerks.

Our GE dishwasher is pretty nice when it works. This review also reflects how GE does not stand behind their products, or value their customers or their customer's time.
I purchased and had a new dishwasher installed in October of 2016 and it worked fine until January. Since January we have had a GE repairman out:
Feb. 01, they reset it
Feb. 07, they reset it again
Feb. 21, was a no call/no show so I had to call to find out they had not ordered the part yet
Feb. 23, they came out and replaced the main board
Mar. 15, they came out, called an engineer and then left without it being repaired, ordered parts and scheduled another appointment for Mar. 18
Mar. 18, was scheduled to be a morning appointment, received a call at 10:21 AM that the tech was on their way. At 12:30 PM I had to call GE and ask for a manager while they hunted down the tech. Around 1:00 PM they came out and replaced the heater and bolts that hold the heater in place
Mar. 30, scheduled an install of the new dishwasher
I have had to take SIX days off work/or PTO (which I assure you waiting on a repairman is no way to spend a vacation).
GE took the bare minimum steps to remedy the situation as replacing their defective unit. They took no steps to address the fact that they caused me to use PTO or take off from work SIX times (and wasted half of one of my days off) in just two months for the same appliance to be repaired. Of those SIX days one was a no call/no show and another day on a weekend of which I had to call to have their supervisors track down the repair technician. Their only step they took was to offer of an additional year of warranty that I could also purchase myself for $33. I find this repulsive and it shows a complete lack of respect for customers and shows that they don't value a customers time. This also does not take into account that the installation of the new dishwasher is different than the original as in now we cannot reach the control buttons on the top now to start the machine and need to use a utensil to start the machine (see attached photo).
Avoid GE products as they do not appreciate or respect their customers. There are other brands that make Slate colored appliances that deserve your business.

Repair nightmare
March 31, 2017

GE scheduled a repair man to come to.my home Tom repair my washer. When the repair man came, I complained of my washer filling up with with water but not washing. He told me the problem was a hose! After insisting that the hose couldn't be the problem, he assured me that it was and left my home. I immediately went out and bought new hoses and changed them. OF COURSE WHAT HE SAID WASN'T TRUE AND CHANGING THE HOSE DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. I called and scheduled another appointment, only to find out that the technician rescheduled the appointment without my knowledge

Dishwashers
February 27, 2017

We scheduled a repair man from GE to come out and service our 4 yr old GE dishwasher. He couldn't diagnose the problem and when he left we had a different issue happen to our washer. We bought a new GE washer this week and the first day it made awful high pitched noise. We asked them to take the defective washer back and they said they could but wouldn't refund our $90 install fee. We'll never purchase a GE appliance again.

Have a 1 month old GE dishwasher that is unusable... needs new motor and water pump... have not even paid the bill yet. GE customer relations AWFUL... they DO NOT stand behind their products... what is worse is that GE asked that I write a review for their website which I did and they wrote back saying they were not going to publish it on their site... no wonder they have 5 stars on their site, they pick and choose what they print intentionally misleading you the consumer. STEER CLEAR of GE

I Purchased a 50 gallon GE Geopspring water heate to replace an electric water heater. The Lowes web site claims that this product can be installed in a closet or even an attic. I had the water heater professionally installed in the same closet as the original heater. In approximately 7 months the water heater began to signal a fault. Per the user manual I checked the filter, which was not dirty but I cleaned anyway, and pushed the reset. Failing to correct the problem I contacted GE. GE service said they would mail me new parts at no charge but the service call would be a $90. When the technician arrived he said the unit didn't need the parts but it did need more air circulation. I opened the window in the door and he reset the unit. 4 months later another fault and this time GE said the unit needed to be installed in a minimum of a 10 ft by 10 ft room and not a closet. When I mentioned the Lowes website they pointed to the manual ands said the installer should not have installed it. The assistant store manager at Lowes Clearwater said he has a 10 ft by 10 ft closet so the web site is correct and it is now past 1 year so he can not help. Run don't walk from GE products!

When we purchased our home 5-1/2 years ago the kitchen appliances were all GE Profile. After 3 years the microwave stopped working and was eventually replaced by GE because of a design failure. The new microwave, designed for families who can't cook, is functionally useless. Last year the ice-maker in our side-buy-side refrigerator went on the fritz and cannot be replaced without having a technician do it. Today, it started leaking water from inside the front of the freezer door from a source that cannot be readily determined. The gas range now appears to have recently started to leak gas from some internal area in the oven.

Bottom line, what ever your thinking of doing, we strongly suggest that you do not consider buying any GE Profile appliance. Our experience has shown us that they are unreliable and have presented built in defects within 3 to 5 years. Considering the cost for these appliances, your money can be better spent on more reliable products!

I really loved my experience with GE. Funny thing, you know when you buy something from a big company you always wonder how the service will be. I can tell you that the service from GE was excellent. The item I bought was damaged when it arrived. I called GE and a really polite worker immediately went to work to exchange my appliance for one that was not damaged. I received the new one within 3 days. Top class service and products
