My husband and I are retired and exactly 27 months ago made the huge mistake of purchasing a GE WASHER and GE DRYER from Lowe's. We were, however, smart enough to purchase extended warranties. There are only two of us in the house so usage is very light. The washer has broken down at least six times since we got it and even now cannot do regular load without going off balance and shutting itself off. The dryer broke 13 days ago. Simply stopped working. It took days for someone to come out and we are still waiting for parts to be delivered. Meanwhile, no dryer! Horrible appliances and lousy service. Buy Maytag!
You should know, around 2016-2017, GE Appliances Division was sold to Chinese Manufacturer Haier. The "GE Service" is no longer the same.
We have a GE Monogram, Advantium Microwave Oven. The glass tray stopped spinning while cooking. Scheduled a service call, and the technician quickly realized that the small plastic part that sits in the bottom of the oven, that the glass tray sits on, was cracked and needed to be replaced. He simply lifted up the part. We were quoted a cost of well over $300 to purchase a new part and have it installed. Part cost was around $78, plus a second "service call" to drop the part into the bottom of the microwave oven. No tools needed, I mean, literally, drop the part into the little hole in the center of the oven.
Absolutely outrageous! We decided not to anything and paid $114.00 for the service call. I found the "GE original part" online for $38.00.
GE appliances is no longer the same company. Beware. GE has lost, yet another customer.
My Washing Machine was not working. I contacted GE to schedule a technician to fix it. However, when he arrived he opened the face of the machine and realized the inside of a blanket was caught inside of the machine which caused the issue. He removed the blanket parts, which took about 5-10 minutes, then told me the cost was $125 just for the labor. That cost didn't include the $100 scheduling fee, so the total was $225. I was shocked and ask the tech why was it this amount. He informed me that the labor fee minimum is $125, however, this was not disclose on the website or when speaking with a rep. The Tech also told me that I could contact customer service and try to get some of my money back, sine he and I both knew the job was not worth $225, and a total rip off.
When I spoke with customer service and asked them about the minimum labor fees, they said they don't keep fee information, but they are responsible for scheduling services, and are typically the ppl that customers speak with, but they were able to provide any clarification on why I was charged so much money. They essentially offered me a refund of $31, which really should have been the cost of the labor.
GE Customer Service is not supportive, ignorant about fees associated with services, and a complete rip off. They should be able to inform customers of the "minimum amount" labor fee, because its completely unexpected and what if a customer does not have the money.
In short, do not contact GE to fix your appliance, you are better off finding a handyman on thumbtack, Taskrabbit, or maybe from your local electronic store
I purchase a GE French door refrigerator model GFE26JSMAFSS February of 2019. Within the first three months I had experienced some problems with the unit. I contacted GE customer service to set up a service appointment. I was giving a time block of 1-5 on June 12 for the GE service tech to arrive. Unfortunately, the tech did not arrive until after 6 pm. After diagnosing the issue I was advised that four parts were ordered and the parts should be delivered to my home witin a week. After about a week and not receiving the parts I took it upon myself to contact GE customer service. The customer service rep explain to me the reason that I had not received any parts was because one of the parts was on backorder and it did not show that the part would be available until the latter part of July. I had to explain to the customer service rep that that would be way too long considering the major issue that I was having with my unit intermittently shutting off. I was then advise that my concern and issue would be turned over to a consumer relations rep. I did receive a call from the consumer relations rep advising me that they did try other avenues to see if they could get the part any sooner and she was unsuccessful and will continue to try to resolve the issue. On July 3rd of 2019 I received a text message from the consumer relations rap advising me that GE was unsuccessful and we're going to replace my unit and that it would take 7 to 10 more business days for me to receive it. The new unit arrived July 10th and during the installation they experienced some minor issues with getting the ice maker to work properly which was one of the issues from the previous unit eventually they did get it to work, but I did afterwards experience some problems and notice some defects to the unit. I have now had to contact customer service again in order to get another service appointment. Unfortunately, I will have to monitor the issue closely until my appointment date which I had to schedule for the week of my vacation to keep missing work again for a third time.
I purchased a GE dishwasher from Home Depot in late June and it was delivered on July 4th. When I opened the door I realized that the middle rack was broken and the rails had come apart from the ball bearings. 1d the 0 days later it was repaired. After two more weeks the plastic that holds the door broke off so that the door just drops to the floor and now I have to wait for another period of time to get that fixed under warranty, most likely another 10 days. It is supposed to clean and dry well but it doesn't. The operating manual is one page and doesn't fully explain how to operate. And pressing buttons 12 times is just ridiculous. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE BUY THIS BRAND... ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. AND HOME DEPOT DOESN'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. SO YOU BOUGHT IT, ITS YOURS... TOUGH LUCK TO YOU
Very disappointed again. I paid my refrigerator in June 30. The first deliver can with a lot scratch and bump every where, and I can not accept in that conditions. We call Home Depot on Monday 07/ 15 and make another appointment for the 2nd deliver. Today 07/27/19. Never show my deliver. My husband call many times to let he knows when will be deliver. Home Depot answer we need to call GE because they are responsible for the 3rd party deliver. After many calls not body answer. Home depot still holding my money and not refrigerator yet. People in customer service with GE don't want to hear and work with you in any complaints.
Bought GE microwave. Very poorly made. Had issue with door opening from beginning. Eventually door would not open. Took over a month to try and get resolved and still not fixed. Company does not stand behind their products. Technician proceeded to break door on first visit to repair.
My double ovens broke 2 years about they were installed and they are charging me to fix the issue. An item that is this expensive should work for more than 2 years.
Had my dryer for about a year and it stopped working. Called GE and they came to fix it. Apparently GE put in cheap belts in their dryers causing them to rip. While the repairman was at my house he updated my washer. After he left I started washing and there was a loud screeching noise coming out of my washer, my lid would not lock at all, and could not turn up my volume levels. I have video proof of the problem. I called GE back about the issue I was having. They told me that they were going to come take a look at it. I missed a day of work to be at home. Nobody called or showed up. Basically they messed up my washer because it was working prior and nobody has came to fix it! I am extremely upset and disappointed. Will not be buying their appliances ever again!
I had had my slate ge dishwasher for about 18 months. Within the first year, had to have the computer replaced. Six months later (last week) it had to be replaced again. They said since I didn't pay for the first replacement part (I didn't have to pay for it because it was under warranty) that I would have to pay for the service call to find out what was wrong, the part and labor. I threw a fit so all I paid for was labor. Also, it took about 10 days for a replacement part because they were out of stock. I've probably run the machine 4 times since it was replaced. Went to turn it on today and it's broke again! If they give me any grief this time, I'm gonna lose it!
GE fridge leaks and is distroying my wood floor! No one seems to know why? I have had to sensors replaced on my stove, the burners would not adjust to the high and low. The appliances are not even 2 years old
GE Appliances have terrible service and are super lazy. They do not take the time to carefully analyze the situation and instead try to push the issue away. For anyone trying to get appliance maintenance I would not recommend GE Appliances or any of their service.
The top piece of my GE profile microwave broke off less than two years after I replaced the very same part. I scheduled an appointment with GE Appliance Repair. The piece was sent to me prior to his appointment. He opened the box to find that the part was damaged. He rescheduled an appointment and new part delivery. The second appointment time came and the part had not arrived. I'm scheduled for a third try. Only the third morning I have to take off from work... not to mention the ridiculous expense of the part and labor.
If I could give this 'ZERO Stars' I would. After 1 month I was already having problems. In the less than 6 months I've owned it, the GE repairman has been out here minimum 4 times and replacement no less than 6 - 8 different parts.
It runs completely by a mother board than you cannot over-ride. If you put clothes in while filling, sensor stops water from filling. If you wait to put clothes in after it fills, than you better stand there and watch it... because once filled, even if you leave lid up, if there's any delay in getting your clothes into machine it automatically starts draining. I cannot tell you how many cups of liquid detergent, scoops of powder and gallons of water have been wasted because of this.
Once I am able to complete a load, the spin cycle never balances. Learned the hard way first time when I was washing were socks and vibration was so aggressive all my detergent flew off top of machine onto floor. The tub bangs so hard against walls my machine actually moves 1 - 2 inches every time. Last time was so bad the front panel actually came lose and is hanging off.
Does not agitate well enough to clean well, so heavy soiled items need to be run through twice. Yet spin cycle is so rough it actually twists my clothes into a tangled mess and on a few occasions ruined some items by tearing or over stretching.
Dryer dries efficiently, but lint trap screen does not fit snug, therefore does not filter lint very well. I clean it after every load and still need to go down into machine past filter to pull out clumps of lint balls that screen did not catch. I could go on, but the more I write the more disappointed I get that I'm stuck with this item.
I own several properties and vacation homes and purchase appliances often throughout year... I will go with Speed Queen on my next Washer & Dryer.
Most upsetting is the best GE could offer was to buy a new one and they would discount me. After 6 months they thought it was okay that I just flush the original $1400 down toilet and be grateful to get a 'discount' on another model. :((
GE Slate appliances are trendy garbage. Don't be fooled by the uniqueness of the finish. It's crap. The slate finish is matte on top of thin plastic. It's porous and allows oils to penetrate, causing permanent stains! My dishwasher is stained because somebody touched the door with bacon grease on their fingers, and my microwave door is cracking. The stainless finish on the microwave door handle was veneer tape! It peeled off from stovetop steam! I'm telling you, these appliances do not stand up to normal use. I don't even have small children! Avoid this overpriced junk! I called GE, and they just want me to buy expensive parts. Never again.
Replaced my 20 year old dishwasher with a GE one. What a mistake. After less than two years to track started rusting. I ignored it and now after less than 6 years both racks are rusting in many places. The places that are rusting are not where dishes touch. It looks like coating was not put on properly. This dishwasher is only used part of the year and then only about once a week. GE will sell me new racks at 25% discount. Racks should never rust unless they are defective.
In February we bought the gas range JGB00SEJSS (816$). Before buying we studied the review of buyers. Reviews were good because people wrote them right after purchase, but not after several months operation. In our range the oven badly works: does not hold the established temperature, long time preheat, convection badly works. The problem with oven door. The gap on the left side (1 inch) is two times larger than the right. We called the service technician. He told that it is necessary to change the oven door, but it is unavailable, and we need to wait for three weeks, and then to call him again. He will only change a door, and on the rest call other technician.
Passed more than 3 weeks, but we did not receive the door. We sent e-mail, but were not answered. We called. We were transferred from one to another (looked, as playing soccer where we were a ball)
As a result, it turned out that nobody ordered a door of an oven and we still waiting for completed fix.
Last year we bought the wall conditioner on GE ******* btu, two times to us brought also both times with damage. How it will work - we do not know since so far replaced - the summer ended.
I do not know what happened to GE appliance, but they are not the same quality as were before. My advice: never by from GE
Move to a new home. 2 years later, ice maker from GE refrigerator broke. $340 replacement. 2 months later, the GE 1/2 HP garb compact broke: $240 replacement. Now, after more 2 years, water filter head of GE refri is broke... replaced, $195.00. Summary: After 5 years and expend around $800 in repairs/parts replacement! I will not be shain about! Will send info to GE, Market Place and BBB! Bad business and we consumer have rights and I will make sure to use it!
First I've learned that GE really stands for GENERALLY EXPENSIVE to fix because they are not the quality of appliances they used to be! I've purchased a dishwasher that does not clean the dishes and has broke down a couple times and now the refrigerator is broken and it's going to be way to expensive to fix! I would definitely NOT recommend GE Appliances at all!
All of this within a 3 week period
#1) Dishwasher leaked all over the floor from bottom of the unit to the basement. They installed a brand new one and it now leaking from the door.
#2) Microwave button to open door popped and door no longer able to open.
#3) Refridgerator water dispenser stopped working.
Every time you call and let them know you need someone to come out you have to wait nearly a week. I've spent hours on the phone with their GECares (NOT) and customer relations department with zero help. Had GE techs come out to the house about 4 times now and have two more appointments lined up for next week.
GE is terrible. That company has been run into the ground apparently.
Answer: SCAM! $800 EXPEND IN LESS THEM 4 YEARS AFTER MOVE IN A NEW HOME WITH GE APPLIANCES-GARB COMPACTER, ICE MAKER AND NOW, THE WATER FILTER HEAD... PURE SCAM... PRODUCTS ARE MADE TO BREAK!
Answer: Yes. I have repeatedly experienced this problem for the past 5 years on my 5 year old GE Refrigerator. Using your fist or a mallet, strongly tap on the fan's surround to break ice free. It will quiet down. However, a quality appliance would not require this type of user intervention. If it makes you feel better, I built a new house with all new GE appliances ( because we liked the slate color) and every single one has issues and has been a profound disappointment. NEVER NEVER NEVER buy GE. We learned the hard way.
Answer: I sure would entertain joining such an endeavor! They deserve to get a kick in the ass if you ask me.
