Gainesville Coins exhibits a mixed reputation among customers, with notable strengths in product quality and competitive pricing. Many customers appreciate the variety of offerings and commend the knowledgeable staff. However, significant concerns arise regarding service delays, with numerous reports of extended wait times for orders and inadequate communication from customer service. Issues related to shipping transparency and return policies also contribute to dissatisfaction. Overall, while some customers report positive experiences, the recurring complaints about order fulfillment and customer support suggest a need for improvement in operational efficiency and responsiveness.

Very good pricing on most products. Was able to call and get an update on my shipment and received it within a week.
I made an online purchase of two Korean Tiger 1 oz gold coins that were "in stock". A check was sent, GC notifies me they received the check and advises it's going to take 10 business days to clear it. At that point I'm suspect since checks usually clear in 3 business days to clear a check. Red flag. After a week I get a call from GC to tell me the coins that were supposed to have been in stock are now on backorder and it will be 2 weeks before they get them. Another red flag. Then I'm told if I would like they would sent two American Eagles instead. At this point I'm fed up with the nonsense and waiting so I tell the sales rep I'll take the AE's and ask what dates they have available to which he replies 2020's and 2017's. I request the 2020's and his says no problem and we'll ship them on Friday. Late Friday I get a tracking number for a USPS package. Monday the package arrives but when I open it instead of the 2020's I asked for there are two 2017's. I understand "stuff" happens but between the coins not being in stock, to the length delay in clear my check and not sending the dates I was promised I have to remove Gainsville Coins from my coin buying options. I've been in business for 40 years. Every company has mishaps now and then. The test of a company is how they take care of the customer when a mishap occurs.
I've bought coins here for a decade. They have a vast collection and you get what you pay for. If your just buying bullion coins they're great. Huge selection, etc. But nothings perfect. They're often out of stock on many coins. And they take forever to deliver. Sometimes up to month. But where else can you buy coins with this selection? Or with speedier delivery?
Gotta give kudos to the staff of gainesville coins. Nate was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the differences between a few coins I was interested in buying. I settled on some proof silver coins and purchased using a credit card and the coins arrived on time and in good order. I am very pleased with the condition of the coins. They each arrived in plastic capsules and the proof finish really makes the design pop.
I was looking for a new dealer to buy my silver bullion from since I was unhappy with my old one. After comparing prices with a few different dealers I decided to give Gainesville Coins a shot. The entire order process was very simple and took only a few minutes. I paid using a cc and my order arrived in less than 5 days.
Very happy I made the switch and I would recommend them to anyone who asks.
I am a small time collector and have used several online sites for buying precious metals and Gainsville Coins is the one I use the most. They have the best prices consistently, even with the mark up for credit card purchases. They have always shipped promptly or indicated that there would be a delay when I submit my order. The packaging is bomb proof and indiscreet. I did call to talk to a sales rep. Once and probably won't be doing that again since she seemed annoyed with me and was not friendly or even very helpful. Customer service could use some work.
THEY ARE SUING ME FOR GOLD I BOUGHT AND NEVER RECEIVED! What losers - total fraud - google them for fraud and "ripoff" and you will see I'm not alone.
AVOID THESE CROOKS. They filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy with a former company (National Gold Exchange) are in trouble for lots of money owed when they "shifted" the assets from that company to Gainsville Coin.
I have purchased through gainesville coins for over 4 years now and i've always been pleased with service and pricing.
The site is good, but the content of what you actually get is terrible, a complete scam, switch and bait. They show great pictures of coins and what you get is an additional 5% charge for your credit card and worn and scratched coins. I complained and found a very different scene, the customer service went out the window, they where almost threatening to me.
Great price on gold coins, but they_require_ you to do a bank wire so the real price is +$25 and the hassle involved in doing a bank wire transfer. Many other sites allow you to send a check, so I don't think I'd recommend gainsvillecoins.com.
I'm not wanting to flame a company, but inform consumers about a major issue. Gainesville Coins isn't really a new company. Please google "National Gold Exchange, Tampa" - the Yaffe's went bankrupt in a questionable way, hosing lenders to the tune of some 35-50 Million dollars. One of the brothers Mark Yaffe built a 28,893-square-foot mansion for $25 Million and during this time and claimed he didn't know where all the coins were. He used the proceeds to build the mansion and crowned the misdeed by cooking National Gold Exchange's books to conceal the exchange, Sovereign Bank said. Turns out these exact same guys own Gainesville Coins and when the bankruptcy went down they were already running it out of the same location and the court had trouble with what gold/silver belonged to what entity. Today, the store is literally 1 block away from the gate to their home community where he still has his "fraud" Mansion. It's amazing how this type of business exists today when all this information is available online but few have read about it. Tulving is another company that has filed bankruptcy 2+ times and was even charged with fraud by the FTC. Gainesville & Tulving are some of the slime of precious metal world - and again, it's all available online for people to research.
I have been buying from them since they specialized in the pre-33 stuff. Now they are mostly just bullion. Their prices are good, and they are friendly and honest. Recommended.
Answer: I wouldn't sell my coins to Gainesville I would use an online service like Monex or Kitco
