STAY AWAY! Canceled my flight without contacting me! Now a week before my trip dates i'm stuck looking for a last minute ticket
Like many others, I never thought to check reviews before buying through the site. I was directed there by Skyscanner and wrongly figured that once I had a ticket, I'd be dealing with the airline thereafter. I ended up needing to cancel my ticket due to medical reasons. I knew the tickets are non- refundable, but my trip insurance required that the reservation actually be canceled before the departure time. I tried for a week to get in touch with FareGeek, via phone and through their website 'contact us' page. No response, ever. Phone always went to voicemail. The day before my scheduled departure, I sent a regular email and just kept repeatedly re-dialing their number. Someone finally answered, but very unprofessionally, and kept telling me there are no refunds (I already told him I was aware of that). He then tells me I was required to email them (which I already had). Several hours later they finally canceled my ticket.
I'm giving it 5 stars mostly because the other reviews are sooooo bad, and I don't understand why.
I purchased my tickets from NY to Australia with them, even after reading so many bad reviews; obviously because the prices were very good. I purchased my tickets, a few days later I contacted the airline and they said that indeed I was in their system and that everything was good. Today, about 2 weeks after I purchased my ticket, I get a phone call and an email from them saying that my departure has been changed from the 11th to the 12th. I obviously wasn't happy, so i called the airline, and they told me it was their fault... they were the ones changing it, so Faregeek had nothing to do with it. Then I contacted Faregeek (through email) and got an answer right away; literally 5-7 minutes after my email. After that, Them and I emailed back and forth like 7 times, all within about 40 minutes! And keep in mind, this was about 12am! So I'm not sure why people complain about their customer service. I did notice their English is not the best, but it is good enough...
They also wanted to charge me $50 for canceling my reservation, but after explaining to them that the airline was going to do it for me for free, they decided to not charge me the $50 processing fee they have.
So although it's too bad this flight did not work out with them, I honestly can't say anything bad about them.
I recently bought tickets using Faregeek. They had a reasonable ticket price and the best routing for two of our four family members to go to Germany on very short notice to go to the funeral of my mother in law.
We, however, didn't check all our passports (absolutely our fault) and on the day before we were due to leave, Sept. 22, discovered my 11-year-old son's passport was expired. We called Fare Geek and while courteous, they were not able to do anything to change or delay our tickets or otherwise even show any sympathy about our situation. I have been on the phone with them every day trying to get something done about the $1300 ticket on Lufthansa and they insist that there is nothing to be done due to a '7 days advance purchase rule.' They have told me numerous times they will call the Lufthansa help desk and get back to me. They did not. They now don't even answer my calls.
I finally asked a lawyer friend of mine to call them and they answered on the second ring. After she asked them all my questions over again and told them they had a 'PR nightmare' on their hands, they sent me an email:
Dear xxxxx,
As per the call conversation with the airline there is a 7 days advance purchase rule, so we cannot issue the ticket on 25sep there should be a gap of 7 days from the date of issuance of ticket so you can email us flexible date after 1st Oct

I have explained that Lufthansa had told me there was such thing as an 'out of sequence request' that could be made and also because of the funeral there could be a bereavement fare to be explored. They have looked into neither.
I am now faced with the fact that my children won't be at their grandmother's funeral. They are both very sad and my husband, as you can imagine, is bereft that he will be alone at his mother's funeral.
I booked my ticket with Faregeek before I read the reviews, and I started getting a bit nervous. I had to book a last minute flight to the UK (booked Thursday, flying Saturday), and when I didn't receive an e-ticket, I started really getting nervous. Then, the company updated an airline confirmation number on the website, which I tried using on the airline's website. When I kept getting error reports, I freaked out a bit, especially as the credit card payment had already gone through.
I e-mailed the company multiple times in panic, and they kept responding that things were fine. I had also tried calling them, but kept getting voicemail. In the last e-mail from them (Friday), they gave me a ticket number (which was already posted on the website, but I couldn't use on the airline website), telling me to call the airline using that. I did, and it turns out everything WAS fine. The airline confirmed my flight, and I will leave this afternoon.
So I would like to say my fears were unfounded, and the company was actually pretty good about getting back to me through e-mail.
Extremely poor customer service that was unaware of my booking and hung up on me. I tried to call them back and it went straight to voice mail. I ended up canceling my reservation with them. DON'T BOOK WITH THEM.
Airline company screwed up my ticket, miscommunication on their end and somehow managed to change my departure date to a week before scheduled without notifying me. Faregeek customer service was easy to get a hold of, friendly, and had it fixed within the hour, no charge. I was afraid of contacting them after reading all the bad reviews but it seems people only tend to post when they have a bad experience. No issues here, hopefully everything will go smooth.
STAY AWAY!
Terrible. They cancelled my flight so I had to rebook with another vendor and pay more because they waited 5 days to email me back saying "your booking was cancelled due to airline restrictions." What bull$#*!.
First of all let me say how disgusting and awful thier customer service (if that's what you call it) is! I spent more than two days trying to get a hold of someone that speaks English (nobody does) and understands what I'm looking for. Second of all, they NEVER answer thier phones and when they do it's very unprofessional. They also will put you on hold and NEVER come back to the phone. This company is a scam and the people that work there are a bunch of illiterate idiots.
I booked my tickets before seeing the reviews, as the site looks quite "official"/"secure" (flight Montreal-SF)
After having booked my tickets, I started freaking out based on the comments... but I received the tickets purchase confirmation in less than 1h and the e-tickets in 48h.
Everything worked well finally.
Paid the money, got my ticket, flew to Miami and came back! Looked at the reviews and s*** the bed! Thankfully all ok and now my sheets are clean. I'm sure it's some call centre in Jalalabad...
I bought a very cheap ticket to China via FareGeek. Never heard of them before. After I bought the ticket, I searched on them and got worried reading all the comments. I called them and mentioned my concerns. The rep assured me it's fine. I do need to fax an authorization paper since it's a one-way ticket. Then I called the airlines and told them that they need my authorization if the ticket status is changed. To my pleasant surprise, the ticke is good and my mom went back to China no problem using the ticket. Maybe it's because I called?
I bought a ticket through faregeek and got the reservation confirmation email within a few minutes. However, it had been two days since my booking and still no e-ticket, so I called them. I was sent to voicemail the first two times I called but then I got connected to an agent the third time. He was courteous and after a few questions said that he would email me the ticket right away. I stayed on the phone until I got the email a few moments later. I went to the airline website and confirmed my reservation as well. I believe I won't have any issues in my travel since I have the actual airline booking reference but I can't help and wonder what would have happened if I hadn't called and/or not gotten to talk to an agent. Would I still have gotten the ticket?
I bought three tickets from Canada to Eastern Europe on Faregeek. Then, to my horror, I discoovered the horrible reviews on this site. I panicked, even got a little paranoid after I called them several times, well within their working hours, and ended up in their voice mail every single time. I was seriously considering cancelling my credit card at that point, when I caled them once more and they answered. It was a lady with an Indian accent, but she was polite, articulate and easy to understand. She reassured me that everything was OK, my reservation was ticketed, and she was going to send me an email with the ticketing confirmation number -- which she did. I verified with Lufthansa and everything checks out 100%. FareGeek charged me exactly what they had originally said they would. It took almost a week before my credit card showed the charge, so I was secretly hoping that I would travel free :) No such luck, but between the three tickets, I saved at least $500 or $600 versus anyone else.
I don't think they have a system to put you on hold when you call. This is a budget operation. If they're already on the phone (which is probably most of the time, I would think), you'll end up in their voice mail. Do not panic. Leave them a message, or call again until you get through. When you do get through, the upside is that you'll talk to a human being right away instead of being put on hold.
Think about it -- would they really still be in business in 2013, after a few years of operations, if they were not legit?
STAY AWAY
We booked a trip, got the e-mail confirmation
When we went to the airport the trip was CANCELLED. Really?!
I wish I could have read the reviews earlier
Again people, stay away
Twice I have booked with this comapany and both times it has been an aweful experience. The first was no mistake on your beahalf but the customer service was aweful, Rude, slow and pretended to not speak english when couldnt answer my questions.
The second time an email you sent went to my junk box for whatever reason and you decided to cancel my flight even though you have a contact phone number for me, when I called to try to fix the situation again I found the person I delt with Rude and not Helpful.
I certainly will not give you my business again.
Do not use this company! I just had to cancel my credit card after I ws instructed to wire cash to a bank account in LA for two flights booked to the Cayman Island!
Do not book with this company. I booked flights online last week and as soon as I hit enter, to confirm my credit card payment, I received an email immediately, telling me that my flights were cancelled.
3 days later, I am still waiting for the funds to be refunded to my credit card
As several others, my airline confirmation got cancelled, and I received no notification of this, and went to the airport, no ticket. I telephoned twice when I got back home, spoke to two rude men who told me that i was sent an email notifying me of the cancellation, and said they sent me a copy. I received nothing. I asked for a copy of this email be mailed to me. They said they didn't do that, only email. I have never had problems with buying tickets with any other company. I will not use this one again, and do not recommend that others use it, and from now on, I will call the airline company to verify that I really do have a ticket.
Dear FareGeek,
I am glad to hear [three days after arriving] that you cancelled my booking with you – and therefore won't be charged. I check often to make sure.
After I supplied Faregeek a credit card, and filled out and returned the pdf, I spoke to one of your operatives, and was assured that the credit card had worked, that the booking was confirmed, and that my ticket was okay. I asked him THREE times if my booking was good and he replied over and over not to worry, that it was.
Imagine my fury, then, when I arrived at Heathrow after a 3 hour journey to find that I had no ticket. Fortunately, the plane was delayed, I was able after a barrage of phone calls to find another travel agent that had a ticket for the same flight for only £30 more than yours. The very same credit card that I gave you worked and paid for this ticket.
Throughout this process I tried to contact Faregeek; no one ever answered the phone.
I would not try to book through you again if hell were freezing over and I am earnestly trying to tell all my friends and acquaintances and anyone else I meet the same thing: NEVER, EVER USE FAREGEEK.
