Like many here, I was directed to this website from Skyskanner. They had the cheapest price for a roundtrip flight to Edinburgh. Using my mother's credit card, I purchased tickets and immediately received a confirmation email. However, something didn't set quite right when I read that this email was just a "confirmation of your booking with us, not a confirmation of your ticket" and that the "airline" might send a request for a credit card authorization form. Weird, I thought, but it was late at night so I went to bed.
Woke up this morning and there was an email informing me that my booking was canceled because " fare has been expired by the airline and airline will cancel this reservation by today".
Sketchy English=sketchy company! I IMMEDIATELY dialed the 1-800 number they supplied, and apparently I was lucky in that I got through to someone right away. However, he did not speak very good English, did not give me a clear reason why my fare had been expired, took FOREVER to look things up, and then tried to tell me that I could re-book for a new fare that was about $150 higher.
Since the other website I'd looked at had a fare for only $50 higher, I told him no thank you. He then tried to get me to stay on the line saying "this reservation has already been made" and "you will not get this fare again". I told him to shove it and cancel my reservation IMMEDIATELY. He pretended not to understand me until I had spelled out "CANCEL MY ENTIRE RESERVATION" several times.
Fortunately, I received a confirmation email a few minutes later that my reservation has been canceled. However, now I'm afraid for my mother's credit card information. She moved mountains to help me get this flight, and if she gets charged twice or defrauded, it will be my fault. I really hate to tell her to keep an eye on her charges, but I'm afraid I will have to, after reading all these reviews.
Basically, stay VERY far away from these guys. It sounds like they use all kinds of bulls*** excuses to try and cancel your booking and part you from your money. I am surprised they are even still in business with this amount of fraud evidence.
This is the worst site I and my husband have ever seen. No one speaks English, you are on hold forever, then they hangup!
Looks like mine is the same old story with this horrible company... booked a ticket to fly from Canada to Europe 3 weeks before. Read the awful reviews about Faregeek and crossed my fingers. 5 days later we get an email saying they had cancelled our ticket because they could not verify our credit card info (why couldn't they have sent an email saying, "contact us immediately about your credit card or we will need to cancel the ticket"?). That's when the panic set in... here we were 2 weeks before flight date without a ticket. Called Faregeek back, was put on hold, disconnected... tried calling back and could not get through for 45 minutes before being disconnected again so I decided to purchase the ticket on another site for $20 more (after all, they had sent an email saying the ticket was cancelled). A few days later I see a charge on our credit card for the Faregeek ticket! Now I have 2 tickets, both paid for with the same credit card. They never sent an email to confirm that they had rebooked; as far as we knew it had been cancelled! This is when one of the booking agents at Faregeek started getting really nasty as we kept calling to sort it out. He called my son on the phone at one point and started threatening to cancel both tickets... Anyway, after many wasted hours and a lot of anger and frustration, our credit card company said they would take care of settling it--thankfully! Now, one month later I am looking at my credit card account and I see 2 fraudulent transactions on my card made through paypal (one was made 5 days after this general fiasco and the other 1 month later, both for around $250). I can't help but think it must have been someone from Faregeek. STAY AWAY!
I booked a flight with faregeek in February. Washington to Krakow, Warsaw to Cologne, Frankfurt to Washington. When I attempted to check in at Warsaw airport I was told that no ticket had been issued by German Wings even though I had a faregeek reservation in hand. Therefore, I had to purchase another ticket even though I had already paid for this leg of the trip through faregeek. When I returned to the states I phoned faregeek only to be told this situation was not their problem.
I made an online reservation with Faregeek 6 weeks before my first flight. I received an email confirmation. The day before the flight, I wanted to print my boarding passes. When I went back to the site, I learned that the reservation had been cancelled. I phoned the Faregeek number & after being on hold over 45 min., I was told by the service agent that I had been notified of the cancellation the day after I made it. There was no message from Faregeek on that date. He said "they" cancelled it, but couldn't tell me who "they" were or why the reservation was cancelled. He would not do anything to assist me. Fortunately, I was not charged for the flights. But I wonder if Faregeek was involved in the compromise of my credit card I used to make the reservation. Soon after making the online reservation, there were simultaneous charges in Seattle & Greece & I cancelled that card. I can't help but wonder if there was a connection between the compromise of my credit card & the Faregeek reservation. I don't believe that this is a legitimate business. Stay away!
Booked a business flight to bali, marshall did not follow threw on what he said he would do. Lost flight lost a lot of money. BE CAREFUL THESE PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING
Attempted to book a flight through them, but cancelled because the transaction was not processed when I had been sent a confirmation email.
A few months later I have learnt that my bank card details have been stolen and someone has tried to take out money on several accounts. AVOID THIS WEBSITE AT ALL COSTS.
Worst experience ever. My credit card number was stolen shortly after using this site. The flight times changed and nobody communicated it to me. I had to completely rebook my travel directly with the airline. I urge you to NOT to use this site. It is not worth it.
Just go back from a month travelling through Bali and the Gold Coast. Got some great prices on my tickets with these guys, however the one time I did have to change a ticket it took bloody ages! Simple fact is they give great prices but if you want to make multiple changes then expect to spend plenty of time on the phone... although I reckon this is the case with most of these cheap operators...
God awful customer service. The WORST company I have ever had to deal with. Absolutely do not book through them.
J'ai acheté mon billet d'avion samedi et aujourd'hui ma carte de crédit à été hacké.
My credit card info was stolen the night after using this site. The bank notified me immediately to ask if i would authorize hotel stays and a few watch purchases in California. Pfft. Im in Texas! The representative said this never happens and there must have been a leak somewhere, sometime from their site this weekend. It seemed really sketchy because I hadn't yet let the customer rep know I was even accusing faregeek. He kind of freaked out and said, "oh there must have been a leak, is this your number, we will call you back immediately." I didn't have any fraudulent purchases actually made, because of the bank's security, but it was really scary knowing someone got my info from this site. I don't know. I might try to use them again for the cheap flights, but only because of my bank's security.
We are scammed by booking the flight. It was $20 lower than other sites. After I booked it, it e-mailed me back to say the fare is expired and asked me for the new charge. I made 2 different reservations and both came the same. I then called back to cancel it, of course it was on hold. Finally talked to the guy and he asked me to respond the e-mail back to cancel it and it cannot be canceled by phone. I then cancel it though the e-mail. I called the credit card company to make sure they did not charge my credit card and they didn't. After 2 minutes, I found out my credit card information was stolen. The credit card company told me someone from out of state charged $3.25 but the credit card information was key in during this transaction. Thanks to the credit card company! This is a new card and I only used it for the air ticket booking transaction only. So I for sure know that it was stolen by them. My concern is that I entered a lot personal information when I booked the flight because I booked an international flight and they asked me birthday too. I am going to report to BBB. Stay away because your credit card will be stolen right away.
Cancelled flights without notifying us. There was no e-mail (not even in my junk mail), no phone call, nothing! Almost impossible to talk to anybody when you call customer service. You can wait for hours and when you get through you get no answers to anything. They put you on hold after you've already waited an hour and then hang up on you. When asked why the flights were cancelled and we weren't notified, they simply said "sorry", without an explanation. Also, after providing them with my credit card details my card was compromised and I was charged 10 random charges.
They will not notify the customer in case of serious changes (bank refusing the payment, flight cancellation). In case if somebody else is paying for the ticket (Faregeek does NOT accept foreign credit cards), they want the customer to send credit card numbers AND copies of the card via email. They are not safe, they are not trustworthy. I'd rather pay $100 more and have a better customer experience.
Terrible site. I booked a flight and received an email confirmation that my flight was booked, however, the next day woke up in the morning to find an email that the billing address on the credit card was not accepted and they requested an address. I mistakenly had entered the wrong address and I responded promptly with the proper address. I never heard anything back so emailed two more times with still no response. I then called and was told that my flight was not confirmed and rates had gone up from $900 to $1300 and I would now have to may for a more expensive flight. Don't waste your time with this site. Much better sites out there that would at least contact you through phone or email to rectify the situation.
I still purchased my flight ticket after reading couple of these reviews because the ticket I purchased was much cheaper than what kayak or other websites were offering (got my ticket for $630 where the cheapest offer from other websites were $790). I didn't experience any trouble as I didn't need to change anything I purchased the ticket. It seems most of these reviews are complains with their customer service which I never needed talking to them! I would buy ticket from them again if I find their prices cheaper than other websites!
Do not book through this website... was sent there through flight scanner booked and got my confirmation... called them a few days later to make a change only to be told because I used a third party card and didn't complete the authorization form they sent via email I have rebook my flight and by that time the fare was more than double the price. I never received an email after searching for it I found it in my junk folder... I do think if it's something of such importance they should have called me to advise me that there was an issue after all I had no idea because I had already received my confirmation and my status was confirmed. I never gave problems using my chase visa card anywhere else anyhow they refused to meet me half way I wasn't going to pay 1100 for a flight that I booked at 400. They were so unprofessional I got voice mail constantly and finally got through by email only for them to tell me too bad book with today's price. Wouldn't even meet me half way. Awful customer service!
I've bought tickets twice to travel to India with Faregeek and had a very pleasant experience. The e-tickets were sent with 24 hours of credit card purchase and the airlines confirmed out seats. I was happy to save couple hundred dollars each time and would recommend them.
DONT EVER ORDER THROUGH THEM!
I paid with an international card, they told me the money was not taken from my account, that showed to be not true! They took my money anyway! But ill make sure i will get it back!
Answer: Stay away, look at my review. These guys are crooks
Answer: Sorry to hear about your mother Laura. We should all report them!
Answer: It depends on the airline not on fare geek, but don't book with this company if you can manage not to. They are literally liars, and I hope I don't run into Yu's problem because I just cancelled my flight with them.
