I shopped at Express for many years in person and then online. For the past year, I have been encountering difficulties having my transaction approved and had to put a lot of effort in to understand the issue and have it cleared. Since Summer of 2022, I have not been able to have my order approved even after being on several calls with them and getting approval from my bank which kept on indicating that Express' payment system was the problem. I am utterly disappointed with the service provided by this company. I have no choice but to find alternative shopping sites and there are many! Too bad for express - I was a loyal customer!
Do not buy from Express if there's a chance you might need to make a return.
I needed to return an item to the seller "Dippin' Daisys". The entire process was a complete run-around—very frustrating! The dress was sold via Express's "Marketplace" (Dippin' Daisys) and I never would have purchased it if I had known what a scam the returns process would end up being. I still have the item, can't wear it, am out almost $50. Not a good way to do business, Express. I rarely do reviews, but this experience called for it.
Also, I went to their website to post a review about their poor customer service. I was required to click on "yes" to indicate I received something free and of value for my review. What?! Clicking "yes" was the only option. I did not receive anything but frustration and headaches from this process. I also learned that Express will not post any Customer Service reviews, which is a sketchy way to do business. If a business is treating their customers fairly, there would be no need to block their reviews about customer service.
I do not recommend buying anything from Express. I won't be buying from them again.
I attempted to purchase several items from their website, and after several attempts, I was unsuccessful. The first attempt, they cancelled all my items almost immediately after purchase. After calling customer service I was told that I ordered too many items at once and was asked to try again making sure I ordered less items. I attempted a second time, placing two separate orders and again, both orders got cancelled almost immediately. I called customer service a second time and was told that my orders were cancelled because the email and billing addressed provided during checkout did not match the baking institution. This was obviously wrong... Banks don't rely on personal email addresses to verify transactions and my billing address was indeed correct. Additionally, customer service seems to be overseas and the staff seems to have very little knowledge on what's going on. Oh yeah, and I'm still waiting on over $3000 from those three failed purchases to be released back to my bank.
I was at express store shopping at Southpark mall in Charlotte and I saw this wall full of pretty clothes hanging and there were at least big 4 signs saying 10!dollar. I was so excited. I grabbed few. Tried it on and stood in a long line to be told they were not 10 dollar. I asked the girl then how much was it she said 20 or 15 something and I showed her the sign she called the manager and she pulled the sign off the wall and in front of other customers said in stern voice. Do you see this selected written by the 10 dollar sign. I was embarrassed. And just walked out of the store empty hand. There was no indication in the tags I was going to buy how much it was going to be. And the wall plastered with ten dollar sign I expected that price. Very disappointed with the behavior of the cashier and the manager. Next day I went to express store in Carolina place and their signs and merchandise were appropriately placed. Sign in, add to your cart, go to purchase, website makes you sign in again, and lose all the items in your cart. Over and over. I do a lot of online shopping and this site comparatively sucks.
I have purchased fromExpress regularly for many years and have had great luck finding tops, dresses and jewlery. Not as much success with pants or shorts, but I can be picky.
I have made several orders online, they have been lost or just canceled. I'm waiting for my orders and have to call them to find out it was canceled! Really!
They don't notify you and then when you call they don't have a glue what they are doing.
I'm cancelling my credit card and will shop else where.
I will say this about James a supervisor. James has gone out of his way to make things right with one of my horrible experiences with Express!
I Used to love this brand and would take any chance I got with new clothes on them. Now it seems they no longer care about providing a service that requires clarity. I ordered from them to have everything in the store so I could pick it up in person. Not only did they split my order but I never received the rest of my order. When I asked they reship it to the store they not only reshipped it to me which I did not want they could no longer cancel it.
Express put a hold on my gift card, which I have never heard of, and then charged my bank the full amount. An hour on the phone with customer service with no resolve. They say I have to return order and reorder with the gift card again! Awful company!
My daughters boyfriend is a loyal Express shopper.
I ordered an E-Gift Card and I never received it so I called and called and after 4 day and Christmas Eve tomorrow I have no gift for him.
They are refunding me after I broke into tears today.
How can it take an E-Card possible take this long to go by email?

I just wanna say I can not thank the store manager and her staff for the outstanding and excellent customer services she provided to me when I came into the Houston First Colony store on yesterday. Not only do I think the store manager is so bubbly and was bursting with full of life and energy her spirit and great customer services out weighed what I was going through. Before I came into the store I was having a bad day with receiving some bad news for the holidays. I tell you the store manager came out and pour out her positive energy and her beautiful upbeat personally with that smile on her face made my day. In the past that store did not have that and the store was always felt so cold and was always in a bit of a
Mess but if you go there now you truly can tell the difference in management and the staff customer services skills and the store looks amazing and you can find things now. All I can say is Thank you for lifting me up at a time like this and my hat goes out to the staff who made my shopping experience so pleasant and wonderful. I just had to write a review on the excellent customer services that the manager provided to me when I was going through my holiday blues. She was amazing. Keep on smiling and making a difference in what you do. Thank you, thank you and keep up the good work.
I ordered a gift card on December 10,2022 to give as a Christmas gift which should have been plenty of time to ship to me before Christmas. It is December 23 and the gift card still has not come in the mail. If I don't get it by tomorrow, I will not have it in time for Christmas. I called customer service twice and was told it was shipped on December 15 and if I don't get it by December 30 to call them back. REALLY!? It should not take that long to ship a gift card.
I've been shopping at Express for years. Like, since the 90's. Over the past half decade, I've never been so spammed with price markdowns and clearance. Some materials even feel cheaper. Like they started allowing cheaper manufacturers to produce their goods.
My most recent experience has made me reconsider them as one of my go to's for a quick, stylish choice.
I purchased a pair of shoes from online. Before one hour passed, I contacted them to see if I could add my gift card to the purchase, or to just cancel and reorder. They told me I had to contact the distributor of the shoe to process a refund. Weird but ok. I contact the distributor, which I had to log in to my express account to see who it was, Journee Collection, who tells me it's too late and the order has been shipped. Frustrated but not the end of the world.
I then contact Express (email) to ask if I can return an online order to the store. The answer, yes. So that's what I do. I drive 20 minutes to the nearest Express, who then tells me I can't return this item to the store and that there should be a return label in the shoe box. Again frustrated. I drive back home and open the "never opened" shoe box to discover that no, there is no return label. (So Express, even your employees aren't fully aware of how to assist YOUR customers.) I then email Journee and ask how to return this item. They send me their address in Utah and inform me I would need to cover the shipment cost. What?! Seriously?! Never again Express. I'm done! Can't believe that this is where you are as a brand.
I visited the Express office at 5310 N 99th ST IN Omaha,Ne. As of thus far it has been an easy process. The receptionist was outstanding and very helpful.(Trina) I am looking forward to a great experience.
The clothes and the people suck at this company. You order something with a good sale and then they just randomly cancel your order. Then it is too bad too sad you have to pay full price now. Never shop here you can find better quality somewhere else.
Disappointed in the way you work on your promotions. These people offer offers that they cancel after taking the money from your bank and you complain to them and they only tell you that they are sorry and that they will refund your money, I did not want my money, simply what I bought and they cynically cancel it, my advice to others buyers, don't think they appreciate you, for them we are a business, for my part I never go back to them, let them keep their points there are many businesses to buy

I attempted to cancel an online order around an hour after purchase. After chatting on line with two customer services reps, calling customer service and a text message from a supposed supervisor; I was told order could not be canceled.
I was charged $8.00 for shipping/handling and must drive approximately 20 mile or pay postage to return the item I didn't want.
I have placed 2 orders from them in the past few months. They take forever to ship, and keep cancelling items although they are still available online. They have also missed items when processing my return.
