Scam! My order summary clearly says$181.06 then on my email receipt it changes to $197.05 but the total bummer is you have deducted $270.65 on my bank account (first you took $248.68 then after few minutes another $21.97 was taken from me. I called the customer service and she said it is just to make sure that I have enough money on my account. What a joke. Never again!
Update: Express resolved the issue after I complained to them. I would rather have not wasted my time in the first place but their solution was more satisfactory than expected.
Paid $23 for a one size beanie that was way too small. Returned it for a $7 refund! They don't refund the overpriced $8 shipping, and make you pay $7 for a return label. That's $15 I spent on returning a beanie that cost $14 + tax. Nice little scam they got there to dissuade people from returning items. I've never seen a company that operates like this. My previous order with Express was for a couple tees that shrunk considerably despite following washing instructions on the shirt. They're also covered in little white specks. Similar tees from J Crew didn't shrink or anything like that.
As I have shopped in store many times, I decided to give their online ordering a shot. First of all let me say that I think the quality and value of their clothes is good and fair. However, as a Canadian, I learned a valuable lesson. First, upon receiving a sale email saying things were up to 70% off, I ordered several items. What the checkout total did NOT convey was that the prices were in US dollars. Long story short - I didn't really save a ton. With shipping and dollar conversion, it was the same as going in store with no sale. After contacting them with this information, they didn't seem to care at all and said, "yes, the prices are US"... that's it. Second, since one of the items was the wrong size, I learned that I can only return through mail (not in store) and to the US and the processing time is horrendous. Stores here will not deal with ANYTHING bought online. To me, this business model for customer service is unlike anyone else I deal with and one can say that it's kind of archaic. I will never be ordering online from them again. I sincerely hope that one day, Express gets their act together and begins to treat their customers whether their online or in-store, the same! If people have a good experience, they'll come back and spend more money!
The online store is terrible but the stores are wonderful. I ran into problems shopping online.
I live in Canada and I was recently scammed by Express.com. I purchased a coat online and I had to send it back because of an incorrect size. I was eventually refunded after about 3 weeks. In my next credit card bill, I saw that my transaction was refunded five times, so I was given back five times the amount they owed me. A few days later (after the conversion between the USD and CAD had notably changed), they took back the money, so I was charged an extra $50. I was furious and had to literally type out, step by step, their mistakes and why they owed me money. Anyway, I received an email saying that they would refund my money, but after a 10 day waiting period. Never buying from Express.com or any of it's stores again.
Be prepared to pay for shipping for only one item even if you have more in your cart. Items can be dropped from your order and you only find out once it's been shipped.
Terrible customer service. I've never gotten a response from any emails I've sent.
The promo codes don't tell you that they're only for certain items. You have to ask why the promo code isn't taking off anything from the price before you figure out what items you can use it on.
This company should be sued after the way I was treated both in the way I was mislead by the staff after an online purchase and the way I was treated in store by their 18 year old "manager".
At least when I am in the mood to be lied to, then ripped off, then spoken down to at the store in person, I'll consider Express. Since that won't happen, I'm never coming back.
This company will aggravate the wrong person eventually, or a class of them, and I hope they have exceptional legal counsel on retainer.
Never coming back!
It was my first purchase online. Unfortunately I had to exchange my coat for a smaller size, they took a whole month! And after I received an email that showed me that they charged me twice for that coat! Minus the $7 return fee... I call customer service and all you hear the background is the representatives with the sh**** and fu**** words in their mouth! Won't be buying from express anymore!
I've made my last purchase at express. Purchased a coat and wore it out a couple nights. Was freezing - decided to return it, admitted I had worn it and lady immediately said "if it's been worn I can't take a return" wow. Too bad for express, we have a large family with large income and have shopped at express considerably over the years. Clothing is such an easy item to purchase from competitor unlike many other purchases. I would never recommend a purchase from a company that gives customer a hard time when returning, especially a store that is not considered a discount-bargain store. Walmart has easier returns. No I won't be going to Walmart but won't spend another dime in express, just because of the treatment.
I live in Canada and on Black Friday, I made a large order from the company's website. I checked my credit card statement and I was overcharged a total of $70. I called the company and they told me that it was a pre-authorization fee to ensure that my credit card was real and will fall out of my account within 3-5 business days. This is ridiculous. I was not made aware of this whatsoever throughout the entire purchasing process. I called Express three times, and I was told the same thing each time. I called my bank and they told me that that amount was already credited from my account and was debited it into Express's account. There was no pre-authorization fee on that transaction. I called Express for the fourth time and they said that it was the currency rate from USD to CAD. Basically the past 3 customer service representatives were telling me false information. The lady on the phone proceeded to find the page that says that the website is in USD, as a trained representative, she took over three minutes herself looking for the page. How are customers supposed to find it. NEVER SHOPPING FROM EXPRESS AGAIN
I shop in the local express store constantly. The store I shop leaves the sensors on frequently. I was going to my child school functions and another sensor left on my shirt. I ran my child and myself up to the store to have as fast as I could so we round not be late. The manager helped me. Asked for a receipt, I explained I purchased this 2 mos. Ago. The sensor was left on it. She then scanned the shirt and said this is not coming up. As if I stone it. In front of my child and a line of people. She then asked for my express card. And the card I purchased it with. As I stood there for 10 mins. As she kept saying she couldn't not find it. I was embarrassed and offened. I told her I was in a hurry and I was offended. She said it was store policy. NOT TRUE! This store has left sensors in my clothes several times, and the staff did not question me. They apologized for the inconvenience. My child should not never think that her mother would steel. Get you staff in check. They should know to take a sensor off. Then to treat a paying customer like that did something wrong. I was unconvinced. I will never shop at that location again! Some example to set for my child!
I bought a number of stuff from Express online. First they sent it partially without letting me know about that. I was waiting for the my suit to go to my brother's wedding but I just got the jacket! Disaster! And the pant arrived after I was gone.
Ordered a scarf on the express website and it took a week to get a shipping tracking code. My package was in Indianapolis for 3 weeks, and i'm still waiting in Toronto for my package to arrive.
I ordered a bunch of things from Express on Black Friday, and was very excited that everything was 50% off. They priced my items correctly, but
1. (and this is not a huge deal) their processing takes FOREVER (has still not processed from a week ago, which I did not expect from them), and what is shipping has been pushed back several times. The estimated shipping date is past what was first estimated (the 5th-7th).
2. Here's the big red flag: I checked my credit card statement, and there is a second order from Express processing now. It is the same exact price, down to the cent, as my first order. This is not cool, because I didn't place a second order, so I don't know why it has already charged me the first time, and now there is another charge pending.
Maybe this happened because it was Black Friday, but they need to get it together over there.
I ordered a racerback white tee of medium size and to my dismay i found an extra extra very extra large tee sent to me. The tee cost me 11$ on black friday and now if i need to return or exchange it i need to pay 7$. So i will never buy again from them. I wish i can give them something like zero on the rating.
I ordered a pair of pants through the Modesto Ca store on November 1 because they did not have my size. The girl slid my card and I left thinking everything was alright. I never got any email confirmation of my order. My pants never arrived. After 3 weeks of waiting, I finally called customer service. They stated that my order was closed, and they would place a new one. The man told me my package would arrive the following Monday. Still no email and still no package. Now, it's a week later and I just got off the phone with customer service again. The lady said my order had been closed again. This time, they explained that it was because the pants were sold out. I'm upset because I never received any email even though every person I spoke with said they would send me one. Ughh!
I do not like to shop Black Friday so I thought I was treating myself to a bunch of cool clothes right before the Thanksgiving mad rush. Everything was supposed to be 50% off. My order went into processing and I even received an email saying that they have lots of orders coming through and the processing can take some time. So, I go about my business and I check back a few days later, still processing... I call and they tell me they have not received my order but that they can honor the 50% off. By now, lots of the cool stuff I wanted were sold out in my size. And, since my order still states it is processing, it can still potentially happen. I called back a couple of days later and was told that she can help take my order and honor the 50% off (which was still going on anyways so there was no extra discounts for all this inconvenience and a lot of the things I wanted were now gone anyways). When I told her this, she said, "There are better things on there now"... which is a complete lie because they have not added a single new thing on there and a lot of things are now missing many sizes and colors anyways. It is like she did not understand all the inconvenience I went through nor did she care. I asked to speak to her boss. I spoke to Jossyln and she backed up the employee and said she was just trying to make me feel better... no real apology or discounts, cute clothes, most of it okay quality but man, their customer service worth nothing. Express, wake up and perform better customer service before you go out of business... read the writing on the wall before you are finished.
I entered the store and was greeted by an employee who said to ignore the 40 percent off everything signs and that everything is 50 percent off. I heard her telling everyone the same thing as they came into the store. I tried on a bunch of clothes because I shop there weekly and I knew beforehand some items I wanted. By the time I checked out the 50 percent off apparently ended. I told the person at the checkout I was told it was 50 percent off and she said that ended at 1 which was about 20 minutes ago. She would not honor the 50 percent off even though I waited in line for over 20 min and did not even know there was s timeframe from my initial greeting. Very disappointed in how I was treated. Especially most of the employees know me by name.
I placed an order 3 hours ago, and when I checked my bank account the charge was almost DOUBLE! I called customer service right away and after an hour of listening to this girl claim she had no idea why that would happen, she finally said that there was nothing they could do anyways because the order has been processed already... which is definitely not possible for orders to be processed in 3 hours during the busiest time on black friday. This company is full of $#*!. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM ITS A TRICK.
I order clothes online and was charged twice, once I called express they called it a "pre-authorization" charge and it would be reimbursed that day. After 4 days and numerous called they emailed me to tell me I had to call my bank and have it removed (the bank said it would take them 10 days) I called express again and they said I needed to send my statement and that they would look it over and that it would take 3-5 days to reimburse! Disgrace I will NEVER shop there again beware of "pre authorization" charges!
