Expedia's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and issues with booking accuracy. Many customers report difficulties in reaching live support, leading to frustrations over incorrect reservations, unexpected charges, and inadequate responses to cancellations. While some users appreciate the variety of options available through the platform, the overall sentiment reflects a lack of trust due to perceived unethical practices and inadequate support during critical situations. This feedback suggests a pressing need for Expedia to enhance its customer service responsiveness and transparency to rebuild consumer confidence.

Expedia site works very well for flight, hotel and car bookings. Sometimes the site is very slow. But hopefully you won't have to deal with the their customer service department. Despite being a Gold member, if I need to change or simply cancel a flight, it's a 45 minute call with several holds. They have human robots in customer service so it takes forever. If you have to contact them, allow lots of time.
4 calls, no call back although promised. Problem not resolved I any way presume call centre in India with no ability to make a decision and no interest. Worst customer service I have eerexperienced
Good deals but they send you too many emails and try to get every dollar out of you. I'm a bit of a deal shopper so I didn't like that. Still have good deals though. I looked at a trip to vegas for 3 nights and if i booked separate it was $400 more. On expedia it was $400 less ($1000 total vs 1400)
I made a flight booking with ExpediaAnd they charged me extra on top of the money I paid for the flight
For them to make the booking it is a rip-off they don't tell you it is going to cost you more when you are making the booking can anybody tell me if this is common practice with this company
Great customer service. Their team was very helpful when had an issue with a room. I travel a lot so important to me
I usually have luck booking with Expedia and getting low rates. The only issue I have is that their website has lots of pop-ups, which is a security threat, and their coupons seem like a good value but they only apply to a very specific kind of booking - I can never use them, which is disappointing.
I have only used them once and the customer support was HORRIBLE they didnt want to help me at all and kept arguing with me, I wont ever use them again. Would NOT recommend to a friend.
Horrible customer support. Impossible to get through on the phone. Once you do get someone ythey barely speak English. Last time I am booking with them
Been traveling to different countries and Expedia help me a lot finding good rates on airfare, good hotels to stay at. Expedia is one that you can trust having travel plans.
Very usefull website for comparing hotels, flights... I recommend to all my friends who are goin to travel.
I bought a 4 day stay in a hotel There was no prompt that this room was no refundable It was hidden in the small print If Expedia really wanted to help customers a box would pop up warning you about this and you would have to agree to make sure this was seen
I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN IN less than 5 minutes this could not be cancelled
I had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience using Expedia. I have used them before for last minute cheap flights, but DO NOT USE IT if there is a possibility than the flight will need to be cancelled or you have an emergency. I had a family emergency which isn't stated in their list of emergences (death or doctor's severe illness). I had to re book my flight which I already paid almost $600 for. They made me pay an additional $200 to change it because I was going to miss one of the flights. I talked to 4 agents, 3 of which barely spoke English and did not understand what I was saying. I am usually very understanding with customer service but no matter how many times I said I wanted to just cancel the flight so I would get a credit (because I would be spending less) they kept pushing me to change the flight which would come out to a $200-300 fee even though they were saving seats on the flight that I was no longer going to be on. I cancelled it I do not want a future credit to use this service pay the little extra cost and book through the airlines, this service as so $#*!ty and wasted several hours on the phone arguing with them.
Expedia has the WORST customer service (if you can even call it that). Yes, even worse than your cable company! If you can find their phone number, after you wait on hold forever, you are connected to someone in another part of the world who barely speaks English. Their ability to complete BASIC tasks, like re-booking a flight takes FOREVER, and then they screw it up.
My wife and I had to make a change to one of our airline tickets purchased through Expedia. My wife spend 2 1/2 HOURS on the phone (and this was with a "supervisor"), just to have this simple change made. I was listening in, and could not for the life of me understand what the Expedia employee was doing on the other end of the phone. What could be taking so long?
In the end, Expedia assured my wife that everything was taken care of, and that she would be getting an email confirmation shortly. My wife didn't want to hang up the phone until she got the email, but Expedia told her that it could take up to an hour for the email to come through. So, she took that in good faith and hung up.
A few days later, when no email ever arrived, my wife called the airline. The airline told her that Expedia had CANCELLED her flight!
My wife was practically homicidal at this point. She spent another hour on the phone with Expedia, and we still do not have this situation resolved.
This company is a JOKE! Avoid using them at all costs.
First, I tried to book three tickets at the same time to the same destination. Their guarantee states 'Lowest Fare' and there are only seven tickets left at this price. I chose three seats as there were plenty left. After I hit 'Submit' it comes back saying the flight is sold out. I thought this had to be mistaken since there were seven seats left so I submitted again. In the meantime, my bank alerts are blowing up my phone saying thousands of dollars are pending to Expedia. I thought I was being hacked so I immediately closed my accounts. Then I found out that since the flight was from United, Expedia allows them to freeze any monies for 1-3 days for every attempt I made to re submit my flight request. No warnings - No authorization by me - Just took. Isn't that stealing for at least 1-3 days? So after several HOURS on hold, I was told by Expedia and United that they would not give me any consideration for any further flights and they were so sorry for my inconvenience. Now I have to wait 1-3 days to reschedule the flights since they have over $5000 of my moneys 'pending' which should be a crime. Meantime, what happens if flight prices go up? I have to eat it thanks to Expedia. What a crock...
I like Expedia, I feel like their site is easy to use and they have good offers. I've never had any issues with Expedia so Ive never had to contact customer service, which I guess could be good or bad? It's great I've never had issues, but I also can not speak on how good customer serivice is.
Love this app. My wife and I used expedia on our last trip to Cozumel, and it was absolutely a breeze to operate. I definitely recommend this company to others needing an easy way to book their next trip.
We rent a car in Costa Rica for 11 days though Expedia. The email confirmation certified that I had only 177$left over to pay on a good price rental car.
First, we arrived and the car we asked for was not there, the guy wanted us to take a crapy car instead. And next HUGE fees were required added to the 177$ for a "insurance" they asked us more than 700$, telling us that it was indispensable and we won't find any other car available anyway. Of course we find an other car somewhere else in 5 min, where they told us the the 'insurance' fees were only optional.
So basically I paid for a service, that they weren't able to provide and that they lied about and now nobody want to give me my money back. You have to harass them but it's never the right person. So Expedia, tell me, do you think I'm stupid and trying to steal my money or are you just the most incompetent company on the planet?
Dose not give the best possible price use a search engine called deal checker it will find much cheaper than Expedia for all your airline tickets
I used Expedia along with a few other travel sites and found out that my computer was completely screwed up by the cookies they use. I then had to pay for SpyHunter to try and get rid of them. I have since bought a MacBook Air. As well, when visiting Banff Alberta I was able to get a better price by calling the resort on their own 1-800 #. So I really don't recommend.
Answer: You were lucky to get through to anyone at all at Expedia. I've spent hours and hours and hours over three days trying to get through to anyone on their customer service phone line, their chat line and their e-mail, all to no avail. They really owe their customers much better customer service.
Answer: Demand to speak to a Supervisor though you better have time because it will take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Once the Supervisor does nothing or little to nothing to resolve your concern, ask to speak to a manager. Get ready to really wait. DO NOT ACCEPT THE "WE'LL HAVE A MANAGER CALL YOU WITHIN 24 to 48 HOURS" When you figure out you don't matter, sit down and right a review!
