Expedia Reviews Summary

Expedia's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and issues with booking accuracy. Many customers report difficulties in reaching live support, leading to frustrations over incorrect reservations, unexpected charges, and inadequate responses to cancellations. While some users appreciate the variety of options available through the platform, the overall sentiment reflects a lack of trust due to perceived unethical practices and inadequate support during critical situations. This feedback suggests a pressing need for Expedia to enhance its customer service responsiveness and transparency to rebuild consumer confidence.

I have made three one hour calls for my single flight where they could not locate the bookings and were took me three one hour calls each to change the flight. At first the customer service guy told me that my seat price has changed from $650 to $6,000 in one month. Ridiculous! They have a customer service in Philipines who do not understand the who thing. Stay away

Book a flight ticket from france to thailand, only to discover at the airport that they never book the flight ticket for me, and sent me fake confirmation booking + e ticket...
They did however took the money from my account!
And now it is a huge nightmare to have my money back!
Dealing with their customer service... terribly bad. 30 minutes waiting before i could speak!
LAST time i will ever book from them.

I stayed in an Apartment in Australia for 8 days. I was given a price by Expedia and had it checked again at the apartment desk when I left Australia. When I returned and checked my account, my bill was over $70 higher than what Expedia had quoted and what the apartment had billed. I've called Expedia and connected with a moron and have sent several emails. Nothing has been done and nobody has contacted me again. I seriously suggest anyone dealing with Expedia check their billing. I won't be using them ever again.

Great place to comparative shop for anything to do with traveling. From Airline tickets to hotels and rental cars. Great deals can be found on Expedia.

I just booked through expedia, and I saved a lot of money. Also, if you make a flight with one stop, try to have connection with 3 or 4 hours long because customs and security may make you wait a long line.

Cancelled a flight due to illness. Took over an HOUR to rebook flight. Indian service rep could not understand half of what I said. He tried hard, but was not ready to be handling.

One of the few times I have booked business travel outside the airline direct and WILL NOT do it again.

Expedia, get it together!

Beware of Expedia, they go out of their way Not to process your cancellation. First they tell you to talk to the hotel directly, then the hotel tells you to talk to Expedia. No one follows through or keeps a record. Keep ALL your emails in a folder so you can fight the credit card charges later. I have hotel claiming I stayed there, so 3 months later I am still paper-hanging my credit card company with a dispute... CALL the hotels DIRECTLY. Any perceived savings are not worth the risk.

Expedia rip off
April 6, 2017

I booked a hotel through Expexia last week. The rate went down significantly and they refuse to honor. Spoke to THREE customer service reps. Two did not speak English. The third lied about the hotels cancel policy. Expedia says their rate guarantee is only for within 24hrs of booking. They will not let me cancel and rebook. They claim hotel has 24hr cancel policy which they do not. Its expedia that would charge one night cancel fee to change rate. Hotel says you can only cancel or change with Expedia. I will never use them again. Horrible customer service

Expedia will rob you. If you are looking to get bent over and taken advantage of then be my guest! Expedia away! These crooks lead you to believe by paying $22.00 if changes need to be made to your flight arrangements then your covered. This is a lie, the only way this benefits you is if someone dies or a natural disaster. At that point, be prepared to obtain a death certificate to prove your claim and wait 2 months for the credit. This is a bad deal folks and American Airlines was affiliated with this scandal. Expedia blames American Airlines yet are the ones deducting the funds! All in all roughly $600.00 for a $300 flight along with hours of our time on the phone! Congratulations Expedia and American Airlines we fly often and will never use either of your services again.

Too bad
April 6, 2017

The Ramada Inn 1221 Granville St Vancouver BC
A wonderfully quaint hotel in downtown Vancouver close to all attractions. The staff was welcoming and very helpful. We stayed there for 2 nights recently and the room was clean and comfortable. The only downside was the next door pub, The Morrissey where we had the complimentary breakfast. That place ought to be closed down for violating cleanliness regulations. We went in there on our first night and the lighting was so poor we needed to use the light on our phone to read the menu. Next morning we realized why the lighting was so poor, the place is filthy. And the breakfast was so greasy we had upset stomachs till suppertime. We heard they are renovating the pub and I sure hope so as we will never visit that place again.

Although it seems like a good idea to use Expedia, there is ZERO flexibility. Want to change hotel reservation? You can't. I won't use it again.

We will never use expedia again! After spending many hours on the phone, we have to pay for the mistakes expedia made. The supervisors and cooperate managers tried to confuse us by telling different excuses...

Expedia.com

CaribbeanI booked my first cruise through expedia. They offered a $100 on board credit with Royal Carribean. I called in Feb to see if there was anything I needed to do and they said just to pay with your mastercard. I just went on the cruise last week and to my surprise didn't get an on board credit. I called them from the ship and they said I needed to fill out a redemption form 21 days before the cruise. It would've been nice for them to communicate. They said it was too late and it's my problem I booked online and didn't follow the little link in the email. Terrible service and I will not be using them in the future.

I have been using Expedia pretty much exclusively since 2010. Their website is outstanding and the few times I have hit a travel glitch their customer service department took care of me with no issues. Once I was stranded in Beijing because a connecting flight to Chengdu was cancelled. A call to Expedia on my cell phone led to a local hotel booking and the first flight out the next morning within 10 minutes. As a Gold member I receive lots of hotel and car upgrades which are a great touch!

I booked a flight for two people through Expedia, for me and my friend. I had accidentally misspelled her name by one letter so I called in to get it fixed. The representative informed me that there was no way to make this correction and I needed to book a new flight and cancel the other one. He said that he can do that for me. After giving him my information I got a confirmation text message and noticed that MY name was misspelled this time and told the guy to fix it. He then told me that it could only be corrected by a supervisor. I was then put on hold (at 11:00pm). I waited for THREE HOURS (till 2:00am) and when I hung up I got a call back from the guy asking me to please continue holding even though he does not know how long I will need to hold. I had work the next morning and I asked him to give me a call back the next day because I was not willing to stay up all night. After not receiving a call back, I called the next day and was put on hold AGAIN. This time I hung up after 30 minutes. Got a call back, and told them that I am not about to spend my entire day waiting on hold and asked for a call back. I was told that I will receive a call withing 48 hours. It's been exactly seven days and I haven't heard a thing. I will risk going to the airport and dealing with Alaska airlines directly but I am NEVER booking through Expedia again and will definitely tell everyone I know to avoid this website. This was the worst customer service telephone experience I have ever had to deal with. Not only was it difficult for me to understand the customer service representative, I also found out that an error is impossible to fix and if you previously booked a ticket and need to cancel and re-book, you're not guaranteed the original price.
