Expedia emailed me stating my expedia flight credits need to be redeemed by 12/31. I login, click 'use credits' and come to the search for flights page. The page does not load after many attempts, rebooting WiFi, and using multiple browsers. The main page loads flights without any issues at all. Spoke to customer service using vitrual chat, was told to contact the airline. Airline has zero records, told to contact expedia again. Expedia customer service is an absolute abomination, not helpful whatsoever. Basically long story short they stole over $600 from me. Do not book with expedia, no "deal" is worth the risk you will take or the headache of hearing "ma'am, there's nothing I can do for you" for hours.

Expedia WAS a good company for anything related to traveling, now it is VERY good agent if you need a hard attack in addition to losing your money!
As a gold member, I decide to deal directly with airlines, hotels and other and never-ever deal with such fraud agency.

Last year before pandemic i buy 4 airline ticket $3800, under the covid19 we not able to take the trip, the say we have a airline credit... today i want to fly and they say we lost the money and the credit.

Recently I purchased a ticket from Expedia for three destinations. I also bought flight insurance in case my plans changed. When I had to fly back from my first destination I called Expedia to change my flight. They charged me about 100% more for a simple return ticket, promising that I could get the money back from insurance. But their trick was to never send me a receipt for the extra they charged. I've been trying to get AIG to pay me back and they keep asking for the receipt that Expedia is refusing to provide, fraud? I would think so. I have spent hours on the phone with Expedia and spent hours loading up documents on AIG site to no avail. So my advice is to stay away from Expedia. Some other travel websites like Kayak.com, find you the best price but pass you along to the airline to buy your ticket. I'd say that's much easier. Wait to read my review about how Expedia and Hilton each charged us for one hotel stay. More to come

Scam!

I am a gold card holder of expedia. Every time I go to use my rewards to book a flight they come up with a huge variety of reasons why ( cannot use my rewards. They have clamed their computer is glitching (while I get a notice that the flights just went up in price- has happened four times). They have claimed that the rewards are limited to a certain airline (not in any of the paper work does it say this). They raise the prices as I try book a flight because the paperwork does say that you have to have enough points to cover the entire trip price.
You are better off with a different card! You wll waste hours of your life just trying to get through to them. Why do I not just pay with my rewards on the website you might ask, well, because that option is no longer available now that I have saved up my rewards to purchase a flight!
Complete SCAM!

Very unhappy customer

I was charged twice for the same room and got absolutely no cooperation from expedia to fix it. The hotel said they were powerless and had to deal with expedia.
Expedia wouldn't even put a person on the phone.
Instead I had to use chat and this was no help. They just blamed the hotel for not being able to help me. Then just cut me off.
I feel like I've been robbed and the customer service of expedia was non existent. I will never use them again

Fraudulent

I booked a tour in Paris with your company, I waited at the hotel and the driver never showed up. I tried contacting the number on the reservation and was not a functioning number. I contacted Expedia customer service multiple times, they attempted to contact the vendor without luck. I never got the tour. I finally tracked the parent company, Viator, and provided their contact to Expedia to attempt to obtain a refund. Expedia declined my request for a refund because they stated that the vendor is not reimbursing them. This is fraudulent activity. I booked with Expedia and it is Expedia's responsibility to reimburse me.

Worst experience EVER
December 6, 2021

Currently on the phone with Expedia, I have a booking thru them that is a month away and I am in need to cancel flights and hotel stay due to rise in Covid cases and new variant strain. Expedia claim that airlines will not give refund or credit to use at later date. Then they proceed to tell me that I have to call hotel my self and try to get a refund. I will NEVER do business with Expedia again

IF EXPEDIA MAKES A MISTAKECYOU WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. I WAS CHARGED $500 For a hotel I never stayed in. The reservation was accurately canceled but the hotel still charged me. EXPEDIA ACKNOWLEGDED the mistake and still did not refund my money. Even my status as a ling time customer did not matter. They were wrong and I still lost. BEWARE!

Stole My Money

I booked the wrong date while booking a hotel through Expedia. The stay I booked was two weeks from the date I intended to book. I contacted Expedia the day after booking the reservation and canceled it but they refused to refund my money. Expedia said the hotel had a non-refund policy but when I contacted the hotel directly and explained what happened the hotel agreed with the cancellation.
Expedia still refused to refund my money ($174). I will never use them again to book a hotel, flight or car and urge anyone reading this to use another company.

I've used Expedia many times and have been so pleased. They have provided excellent service up until my last trip. I booked a four day trip through Expedia. Upon arrival it was clear the room was not as advertised on Expedia website. The rooms were older than shown and the room itself was dirty. I contacted Expedia the next day and asked to check out and be refunded remaining amount for the stay. At this point Expedia and the hotel began playing hot potato, each one blaming the other and both stating they "would like to provide a refund" but it was up to the other party. If you book with Expedia, do not expect the rooms to be what was advertised. Also know that if you are not satisfied with your accommodations you will not be given even a partial refund. I will never use Expedia again because they do not stand behind their services.

I shall only hit the important details of my experience with Expedia. Went on line to book one overnight in Miami, prior to a cruise. Booked the dates, picked a room, noted two adults. Easy. Paid the fee, approx $120.00, waited for confirmation Email, They had chosen the wrong dates. As I chosen Non Refundable tickets at a slight discount, and it was their mistake, I figured just a date change is in order. WRONG, contacted Expedia, offered a room at twice the rate. Then after no reasonable explanation, other than try to have me understand their commission, she hung up on me.
Resolution: Called the same hotel, got a little discount, and booked.
P.S. If you have a little extra money, send it to Expedia, they seem to need it.

They will do nothing for you as far as cancellation even with the insurance that we purchased. We had a death in the family during flight and returned immediately on another Airline and called the next day to cancel the hotel and the return flight and they did nothing to help out. Don't book with them!

My account on their website shows I have credit but won't let me redeem it. When I contact customer service they say that their website is not correct and that I don't have any applicable credits. Doesn't make any sense. I've spent hours trying to get through to customer service. They either hang up on me or end the chat on me or legit take hours to respond via chat. Waste of time trying to get my money back. Had to dispute the transaction with my bank instead.

Expedia is Unreliable

Expedia is very unreliable and if you have to book through one of these online travel agencies, I'd recommend Travelocity. I booked a hotel room in NYC back around March for a weekend in October. I was told by Expedia that the rooms were booked, given a confirmation number, and given reminder emails leading up to the date. Well I get to the hotel and it turns out that due to a booking error Expedia never actually booked my room! So I arrived at the hotel around 11:30 PM just ready to crash, had an absolute panic attack, and scrambled to find something nearby before midnight or else I'd have no where to go until 3 PM the next day. I ended up paying more for this backup hotel, a hotel which was of lesser comfort, than my original booking. When I reached out to Expedia I asked for a voucher or credit to restore my faith in their abilities and as a show of care for their customers they said no because I hadn't been charged by the original hotel. So no foul right? Wrong! To me this shows how very little they care about their customers and it shows how flawed their booking system is. I used them because they're supposed to be reliable and make bookings easier, but instead they left me high and dry and in a state of panic.

TLDR don't trust Expedia to have your back even when they're the ones at fault

Reserved hotel through Expedia - 5 days before going - we rechecked hotel - per internet Hotel closed indefinitely. Called Expedia to see what was going on - they called hotel - yes hotel still open - only taking walk ins - they were in process of changing names - so no longer restaurant or bar. Asked Expedia if possible to find another hotel with restaurant/bar. But only way they could help would be by FIRST canceling our reservation and then looking for another. Told me to go to website and find one and then call them and they would reserve - of course by now Expedia was $50 over another site.

DON'T USE EXPEDIA

I wish I could give them a -1 star.

So I booked a flight with Delta through Expedia. First, they changed the times of my layover, making it impossible to catch my layover as it was leaving 2 HOURS before my first flight arrived at my layover destination. Had to get on a 2+ hour call for them to "find another flight."

A few weeks later I get another email that Expedia changed my flight again. This time completely changed the take-off day and added THREE layovers. When I called to complain, was going round and round in circles about no other flights being available, so I three-way called Delta representative to try and fix this and they said Expedia agents do this all the time in order to save the company $50 for changing the flight… you're telling me a company as big as EXPEDIA is making our lives hell to save some cash?

WELL, that's not all. While I'm still on the call with both agents, I ask for an upgrade. Expedia claims that it'll be $2k more… Delta claims it'll be $300 more for the exact same upgrade. Expedia claims it doesn't exist even though the DELTA agent is confirming it! RIDICULOUS! In the end, we had to request a full refund from Expedia (which they tried to change our minds about by transferring me to another department, I said absolutely no), and buy the upgraded flight directly through Delta. ALSO, the flight refund will take about 12+ weeks to be refunded.

DON'T! USE! EXPEDIA!

Just No

I have never experienced worse customer service than theirs. 5 calls to change a booking. Over 2 hours of making the 5 calls... Never again! Use trip advisor for sure!
