Booked a hotel in New York City through Expedia. Written confirmation was given 5 months ago for a double twin bed room with a good rate. Three days before by trip, I called the Hotel Rui Plaza and learned that Expedia booked a king room. I was traveling with my teenage granddaughter and I did not want to share a bed. A contacted the Expedia customer service and I thought the rep called the hotel and corrected the booking to the double twin room. The representative said there should be no issues checking in. When I arrived at the hotel, I was told I had a king room. They checked and I was told that they did have a double twin room but Expedia had to call the hotel to change the reservation. I was told that Expedia didn't really make my reservation, it was booked by a 3rd party. I finally used chat to text my problem to Expedia Customer Service. I had two representatives that said they were trying to contact the 3rd party that mad the initial l reservation because Exepedia could not make the change. I was told they were on a "long" hold for the 3rd party. After 1.5 hours of waiting and being shuffled between two customer service agents, I ended the text and took the king room. The clerk at the front desk told me that this type situation happens all the time with Expedia. Botton line... Expedia service is horrible and I now know that when you book, you are booking with an unknown agency who doesn't respond. Beware!

Ripoff!

Expedia would not respond when we attempted to apply a credit last December. Deadline to book flight and apply credit was December 31,2021. After that date Expedia said the deadline was actually June 30,2021 EVEN THOUGH we have an email confirming the December 31 date! Extremely dishonest! Avoid Expedia!

I paid for cancellation insurance only to be told it would be in the form of a credit. Go to book a flight with my credit and was told I owed an additional 1800 dollars. How can I get my money back before my year is up. Thank you

Recently traveled to Peru. A week before leaving I received my itinerary via email from Expedia. In this email, there was a link to a website with important information before traveling. It was a third party website that had Expedia's website logo on top. I filled out the information pertaining to me, and loaded the webpage. Here I was advised to take a rapid antigen COVID test to board my flight. I get to the airport at 5am on the day of my flight, and was turned down at the ticket counter. The website with Expedia's logo on top, that Expedia sent me, told me an antigen test was sufficient when the airline would only accept a PCR COVID test. I missed my flight, had to pay 250$ for a PCR test at the airport, and spend an additional 400$ on a new flight. I contacted Expedia for a refund on my original flight and they refused any responsibility, even when I purchased flight protection. This is a 20 billion dollar company refusing to refund a 25 year old (who's still paying off college loans), for less than $300. This is disgusting and immoral. I will never use Expedia again. Next time I will search for flights via google and purchase tickets directly from the airline. I advise everyone to do the same. Don't get screwed by Expedia.

Booked a rental car, Site is terrible to use. Trouble paying, then spoke to an agent at expedia. The rental car company did not have my booking. "There is nothing we can do" according to an agent. Do not use this site

We purchased airline tickets, upgrading to business class for the "refundable ticket" aspect. We decided not to go on the trip, and Expedia decided that they would only give us credit for a future flight. BAIT AND SWITCH! The person on the text then said they would call in 24 to 48 hours with a supervisor's decision, goodbye. We would be leaving for the airport at the 48 hour mark, so I called them back after 36 hours of no call, and have been on this call for 53 minutes so far, and am on hold right now. Don't use this site, or use at your own peril.

Wonderful agent

Today we found out my husband has a brain tumor. We are devastated. I had to cancel some things we were planning on going. I couldn't even think straight and needed to cancel our hotel. Your agent Roberto did everything for me with no delay. I was so grateful. I will always use expedia

Their Agents Contradict Themselves

I booked a flight in 2021 for 2022. When I went to cancel, I was told by an agent that I would get a full refund due to COVID guidelines interfering with our trip. Agent A referred me to contact Etihad about a refund, so after 3 hours on call with Expedia, I called Etihad. After another long hold, Etihad told me to contact Expedia. I called Expedia again, Agent B told me that a refund was not possible, but I could get airline credit. I agreed, and asked them to write down explicitly the terms of the airline credit in the cancellation email, but they were hesitant to do so. Of course they were, because as soon as I tried to redeem the airline credit, they changed the terms of the credit by telling me that the airline policy had changed and that the original terms were no longer valid. How do you trust a company whose own agents contradict themselves, even when you have written proof!?!?! Don't waste your time or money, book directly with the airlines and avoid booking anything more expensive than a pencil with them! Not worth the time and energy.

My family used to use Expedia regularly, but in 2020 when we had to cancel our trip because our flights were canceled, Expedia promised credits or a refund, but never delivered. We followed up with Singapore's version of the Better Business Bureau (Consumer Association of Singapore) and with our Member of Parliament. Expedia just continued to promise. To date nothing. We don't use Expedia any more.

If you book through Expedia, do not expect them to help you with cancellations even though you may have bought their travel guard insurance. Worthless! Also shop around a little more before using Expedia. They say they are the cheapest around but I found cheaper of course AFTER I booked with them. Not happy with them nor their service. They won't back up their customers PERIOD. They give you one excuse after another. Put you on hold while they play with their phones or whatever to pretend they are doing something. Worthless!

I bought a refundable airline ticket through Expedia. It was a ticket for travel within Brazil on GOL airlines from Sao Paulo to Maceio. Due to COVID I had to cancel. I had a $464 credit with GOL. I called back less than a year later to rebook and looked at the prices on the Expedia Website. No matter what price flight I picked, it was costing me $464 more than the price of the ticket. I looked at expensive tickets, cheap tickets, and all sort of prices just to make sure. Every ticket I inquired about they quoted me $464 more than the listed price on their own website. Bottom line, they were not going to give me a refund. They scammed me. I called several times. I am sure they do this to others. I know of at least one person that has confirmed this happened to them. I eventually bought my ticket through a travel agent in Brazil. He checked and the credit was with GOL airlines, but only Expedia could access it. Expedia should not be able to advertise that it is refundable and then deny me the credit that my account said I still had with that airline.

This is company is the absolute worst traveling company to deal with. Just remember they are just a middleman for your travel plans, and will never take any responsibility for any problems that occur. My first experience was when my fiancé used them in 2014 on a trip to Europe. We were stranded in France at the airport for 14 hours because they didn't book the flight correctly. We got engaged in that day and was a total disaster. 2021 I hoped things changed so I decided to use them again. This place was in Atlantic City and once we walked in we could see this place was a dive. It was infested with bedbugs, blood on the sheets and the bathroom covered in p*** and s***. They took no responsibility and never got a refund.
This time around my friend is getting married so I booked a hotel in the poconos. It was suppose to be paid when i arrived at the hotel, but took the 489.000 instantly. I called the hotel and the customer rep said they would not charge any fees. Expedia still refuses to give me my money back. Two hours of dealing with their horrible customer service. Please do not use this group to book a vacation. If people gave reviews it is because they had no issues, but if there is an issue they will leave you stranded. Looks at all the groups of people they have screwed over. Go directly to the hotel, airline, or car company. These guys charge fees and don't help with any situation.

Horrible customer service. Hard to get a hold of customer service and when you do, they do not follow through. They would say they call back, and they either did not call back or they would call back after 10:30 PM. I rented a Budget car through Expedia. Their email indicated "Unless otherwise specified, rates are quoted in USD. Rental fees are due at pick-up. The total price includes all mandatory taxes and fees." No other fees nor taxes were mentioned in the Expedia confirmation. When I got to the Budget counter, they would not honor the Expedia pricing. When I tried to resolve this issue at the counter, Budget Reps could not explain the difference, and told me they could cancel the reservation and I could go to another car rental company for a car. I believe they know of the rental car shortages, so that was not an option……kind of take it or leave it…. We are no honoring Expedia quote. I have talked to Expedia customer service and they have either been dismissive of the request or tell me it is up to Budget to correct the problem or just don't return calls. Both companies are unethically in their approach. Will never rent from Budget and will not use Expedia as they stated they cannot guarantee the rates they quote.

I found the same hotel booing for $498 cheaper on a different booking site. I had already booked with EXPEDIA as they where supposed to guarantee the price. I filled out there price match form and was to hear back via email in 48 hours. 4 days later I called them and they told me SORRY that doesn't match our booing site rules! I didn't get the price match and they didn't really care just told me that it wasn't possible to match the site I found the price on? NO PRICE MATCH!

Expedia Disappoints

I booked flights to Maui on Expedia Itinerary # **************. I use Expedia because you have a 24 hour time to cancel or change your booking. The email I received from Expedia stated:
Expedia
Thank you! Your trip is booked.
Confirmation Details
Expedia itinerary number: **************
You'll receive a confirmation email shortly at (my email address).
You can cancel Opens in a new window. Your booking anytime in your online itinerary.
The next email I received had Alaska Airlines flights - the days were correct but the times of the flights were not. I immediately went back to Expedia and clicked on Cancel. Another screen had the message - this booking cannot be canceled. I talked with Chat and Jose said the booking could not be canceled. There was no confirmation screen before final payment, such as Amazon and all other retailers I have dealt with have. In a case like this there should even be a warning before you click on pay that this booking is the exception to the rule. I trusted Expedia and think this is very deceptive. I will not have this same trust in the future. When I went to the Alaska Airlines site I could not cancel the reservation and the customer service number had a ten hour wait. Not helpful.

Hotel Booking

The agent told me that they will charge only the first night to my credit card and they charge the full amount. They told me the parking was included when is not!

When I talked to a supervisor the only think he can do his to cancel my reservation!

I will NEVER use Expedia service again!

Please be careful as agents lies!

The expedia website changed the date of booking and I immediately canceled and received a cancelation email. They then charged my credit card and I was held responsible. Don't use them, they are crooks.
