Don't care other's rate. Its wasting time, no respond, never support, lead me to pay more money for setting up.
Signed up using their website builder, after a few weeks I realised I needed to be on cpanel as it wasn't what I needed. I was told I needed to pay more money and buy a new domain name and then ask them to transfer my previous one and discard the new one. (obviously it's too much effort). So, I asked for my money back under the moneyback guarantee. Took MANY emails and only honoured it when I threatened them with legal action.
The website builder whilst limited is fantastic but if you need anything more complex look elsewhere, remember - you get what you pay for.
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!
Complete rippoff. Avoid this company like the plague! They are the very definition of bait and switch. They charged me even after I cancelled a one month subscription within ten days. Two weeks after cancellation they posted additional charges to my cc. They need to be shut down - this cannot be a legal business. They charged me a total of $45.00 for something I never used and had zero value. PS they have created countless websites loaded with bogus testimonials. Better Business Bureau here I come.
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!
I have never in my life felt more obligated to wright a review in my life!
EHost is a JOKE and let me list off a few reasons why.
Edit: Just reading this back now after typing it all, i feel the need to apologies for going on a long rant.
1) Okay lets start off with the light stuff, something a lot of hosts do, but its still a pet peeve of mine. "ALL THIS FOR $2.75 A MONTH... WHAT A DEAL". Then when you order, it suddenly jumps up to $6.99 / Month for not pre ordering 3 years upfront. Normally this would not be a sin, but eHost make you travel over 10 pages into the order and only tell you at the very last moment, EVEN AFTER GETTING CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!
2) You see that kind message in the footer that says "blah blah, We use cookies, Blah Blah"? If you are from some country's, UK defiantly being one of them then you will be used to seeing them on every website you visit. So used to seeing them that you don't even bother hitting "Hide" on them anymore... Well that "Kind Message" is hiding something, so close it. Before i go on, here is a link to a screenshot http://i.imgur.com/ajAHXWn.png (at the very bottom of the page). After you do click "Hide" you get to see a message "*Prices valid for initial term only and automatically renew at the regular rate. If you register a free domain with us and choose to cancel your account, you will be charged a $15 domain fee if you'd like to keep your domain. "
So basically, that $6.99 you paid, is only for the first month, after that it doubles! Don't bother looking at your emails, there is ZERO mention of it there!
3) This one adds onto the last "Hidden Message" but this time about there amazing offer of a free lifetime domain. If you do get it then you must pay them $15 if you want to leave (and of course you want to leave after being over charged at this point) and keep your shiny new. Com
4) This one is still undergoing, but the Live Chat guy couldn't help me and I'm currently awaiting a ticket response, What if you don't want to keep that domain, what if you just want to go, get your refund as you are still in your 45 day money back guarantee time limit. NOPE, even know there site CLEARLY (after hiding the cookie message) states "IF YOU'D LIKE TO KEEP YOUR DOMAIN" i was still told its a none negotiable fee, regardless of if you want to keep the domain or not.
5) This one is kinda funny, but is probably the worst sin of all... Everything on the site is in $dollars. So you should think your $6.99 host that doubles to $13.98 will cost you that much? NOPE, if you are like me and live in the UK you will be charged the same amount but in £pounds! So your $13.98 / month host just become £13.98 POUNDS + VAT (yes that's a grand total of $21.22 + VAT / Month) for something that started as $2.75. Proof from "my invoices" http://i.imgur.com/zRFmhq2.png (that £0.00 was added after there mess up creating my account, mentioned below)
Also, there "this takes 20 minuets" when setting up your account, yer that took 3 days, and had to contact support about it 3 times. Even know they had my first payment of £6.99 ($10.61) + 20% VAT.
Sorry for going on a rant, this truly is a first for me:(
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!, Im going to bed now, its 5:10AM and i have been fighting with them for 3 hours, im tired, goodnight.
EHost.com review
There are so many web hosting services available now, and I didn't take time to check them all out. Instead I have selected ehost.com, because I've seen them ranking high on some review pages. This is my contribution to stop anyone else from using their services.
I have purchased premium 3 year subscription plan on ehost.com and thought to myself – how great is this: They have s great discount, I'm going to save a lot of money and I'm going to have my domain within 1 hour (this is their claim on the website). But of course, it wasn't so easy.
After purchasing the ehost.com premium package the status on my domain remained "x" - failed. So I wrote them my first complain – expressing my concern that my domain is still not up after 6 hours. No answer. I wrote another complain the same day, still no answer for the next 3 days. After a while I go to their live chat support, where their employee reinsures me, he will issue my problem with system admin. I was happy with the way things turned, and foolishly hoped I will have my domain online in 1 day. Again, that didn't happen. My issue was addressed to the billing admin, instead of system admin, even though my domain was paid for already. I was back at the start, back to their live chat support, where their employee James H. Told me that the error is on their part and promised me (gave me his word) he will make sure that it is attended ASAP.
Guess what – this didn't happen in next 24 hours. So next day, I got in touch with their live chat support once again. I have had enough. I told them I am waiting already for 8 days to get my problem fixed, and demanded they resolve it within 1 hour (that's the claim they have on their website anyway). Their reply to this was: "You're issue is very complex and there are 3 people working on it. Because you have replied to your complained several ties, your issue was also pushed back, so we recommend you don't reply and wait for us to get back to you." And then the girl asked me if I have some other issues she could help me with? I didn't know if I should start crying, yelling or laughing. First of all – how complex could a domain registration be - the name was available, it doesn't use any special characters … So what is so complex about my issue? After reading a few other reviews (and I regret so much not reading them before I purchase with ehost.com), I see that they are in habit of automatically recharging, double charging or making other financial advantages of their users. So maybe the problem is that my credit card expires in March 2018 that is 6 months before they could automatically issue my subscription.
Well who knows … I just now that after numerous complaints I have made, they haven't even provide me with basic answer of what the problem is and how/when will they fix it.
It really saddens me – I work as a freelancer and I work so hard to get new business opportunities, and have to let go several of them, because I wasn't able to create & use e-mail on the domain I have purchased with them. I will not make the same mistake to trust them with my future again.
I've been trying to register my domain at ehost.com. I'm not a native English speaker, but I'm sure I've used the right verb form in the previous sentence. The website ehost.com claims to have your domain registered and live I 1 hour, however in my case this wouldn't be further from the truth.
I have write several complaints, asked, plead, beg to have my problem fix, because I had some important projects on stand-by because I couldn't use my new domain. I was running in circles with their live chat support, system admin, even billing admin (even though the payment was processed within 1 hour of purchase). It appears nobody knew, what was wrong – at least nobody told me, even after I demanded the status of my issue: 1. What is the problem, 2. How will it be fixed, 3. When will it be resolved.
After 1 week of complaints, some great business opportunities lost, I have turned myself into mad-customer-Godzilla, threatening their customer support to share my frustration with the world. I have even put time-bomb on my complaint and ask them to fix my problem in 1 hour. And as you can tell, they didn't fix it.
I have no idea, who is in charge of customer support in that company, but I'm sure, he has never issued a complaint with-in his company. I'm sure otherwise he would see that there are several problems and improvements he/she could have done in their customer support policies.
I am extremely disappointed with the way this company has treated me, and the damage they have done to my business. I do not recommend them at all.
I generally register domains, pay for them and they are up in about 10 - 20mins. Its been days now and ehost still do not have my site registered. They must be doing it by pigeon Im going to get my money back.
Definitely dont recommend them
