Reliable service with good support

I signed up for a new Namecheap account with a new domain and hosting, paid immediately, and was ready to build a website. Shortly after, my account was flagged by the Risk Management team for verification.

That part isn't the issue. Fraud checks are reasonable.

The problem is how Namecheap handles customers once that flag is triggered.

I promptly provided the requested payment descriptor exactly as instructed. After that, there was no confirmation of receipt, no acknowledgment, and no guidance on next steps or timing.

Technically, I could access hosting and begin setup. I started building the site, but stopped after about 30 minutes because I had not received any confirmation that the security review was complete. Most people start hosting when they are actively ready to build, not when they want to risk losing work or being locked out at an unknown point in the process. An open-ended verification hold creates real uncertainty and forces customers to pause work they are otherwise ready to complete.

I emailed to confirm whether the information I submitted was sufficient. No response.

I followed up again after three days. Still no response.

I only received a reply after I responded to a "CEO feedback" survey and explicitly copied the main support@ email, at which point the Risk Management team replied quickly. That escalation step should not be required just to get acknowledgment that required verification was received.

Even then, the response missed the point entirely. It focused on why fraud checks exist rather than addressing the actual follow-up system failures:
+ No acknowledgment that verification details were received
+ No confirmation that the account was cleared or safe to proceed
+ No proactive communication
+ No visible coordination between Risk, Support, and Customer Success

When I asked for escalation to a customer success manager or leadership, I was told this was unnecessary and that "we would have answered anyway," despite three days of silence and multiple follow-ups.

This isn't about security. It's about broken customer workflows:
+ Accounts can be flagged immediately after purchase
+ Customers are given no SLA or confirmation
+ Support teams operate in silos or without a customer success mindset
+ Escalation paths appear intentionally limited

The result is friction at the exact moment customers are most motivated to build and launch.

Fraud prevention is understandable.
Silence, deflection, and lack of ownership are not.

I would not recommend Namecheap to anyone who values predictable onboarding, clear communication, or customer-first operations.

I had a very disappointing experience with Namecheap. After purchasing a domain, it was taken away from me without a clear or fair explanation. I immediately requested a refund, but the reimbursement was not completed in full, even though the issue was not caused by me.

The whole process felt unfair and poorly handled. Customer support did not provide a satisfactory solution, and I was left without the domain and without a full refund. This seriously affects trust, especially when dealing with something as important as domain ownership.

I expected transparency, accountability, and proper customer service, but unfortunately, that was not my experience. I would not recommend Namecheap based on how this situation was managed.
