I booked a car for Melbourne for 10 days with this company for a holiday trip with my family (2 adults, 3 children 1-7yrs). On the day we landed after an hour flight delay, we called the number for pick up at 1030pm. To our horror the counter is already closed at 10pm. This was not mentioned anywhere when booking the car! We got no choice but get a cab to the hotel about 45min away (imagined if we had booked a hotel further away as we wanted to drive down to great ocean drive the next day!). I wrote them an email at 130am asking to pick up the car next day or if they could send the car to the hotel in the morning before going to sleep. In the morning about 9am i had called several rounds to confirm the pick up and got transferred here and there without able to get an answer. Finally i got patch to a person around noon and he told me the car was already released to someone else and there's no other cars available! What a terrible experience! I have never had such lousy car rental experience before travelling to US/Europe/UK/Asia before! And yes, they still charge you for the fees you paid earlier when booking! In the end I had to book for another car with Europcar with higher price (very few options left with no car to travel around!), which also had it's own problems (confirm with child seats during booking but when pick up, no child seats! Had to buy 2 child seats at Target in order to travel). Overall, my experience with car rental in Australia was bad, especially with economycarrentals which so called cheaper offer but at the end get to pay more and screwed up your vacation!
I am still waiting for my deposit back, after numerous phone calls no one has gotten back to me. I contacted the company via messenger on Facebook I was promised the deposit would be paid back that was over a week ago. The so called service is pathetic. I will never recommend your company to anyone

This October, I rented a car in Malaga through ECR and purchased the insurance from them. Unfortunately, someone had made two scratches on the vehicle during the renting period.
I filed a claim to ECR and eclosed all the documents I had. After a week or so, I got an answer that they will refund only half of the request due to two incidents. Their insurance policy covers only one episode.
We had three weeks of emails back and forth, where I have included emails from their employees before renting the car, and they didn't mention about only one incident. I asked them to connect me with their supervisor, but it looks like they just ignored these messages again and again.
Finally, they made a payment of only half of my claim. So be aware when purchasing the insurance from EconomyCarRentals - it may work, not the way it is supposed to.

EconomyCarRentals will only compensate the customer up to the excess amount. In case a customer has multiple (two or more) damage incidents during the hire period, only one excess coverage/compensation will be provided by EconomyCarRentals (up to maximum excess amount).
In this case, there were two separate scratches, on the right side and on the rear side, signifying that two incidents occurred.

I often use this website and I have always found it very good. Last time during my holidays in Greece I had a small accident (some scratches in the bodywork). Since I had taken full insurance, I asked for a refund and was reimbursed within a reasonable time after having sent the documentation that was requested to me.
We use them a lot and never had problems! The first website I visit when I need a car rental offer for our next getaway!
I rented a car while in Malta with my wife and 1 year old Daughter. I tried to pay and was told my credit card was declined. I called my bank and they said that the issue was with ecomony car rentals bank and the funds were being returned. This went on for about an hour, sat outside the airport with a distressed baby. We were then told that the only alternative was to take out their own insurance at a cost of an extra £99 and pay by debit card, which we had no choice to do. The car was falling to pieces and in terrible condition. I complained and have been waiting over 2 months for a reply to my complaint. Outrageous. I would never use these amateurs again. Go with the big and more reputable companies to avoid being scammed.

This company is by far the worst car rental service I have ever used.
I dropped off the car on the 2nd of September 2019 and today, almost 8 weeks later, I am still waiting to get my down payment back. The provider Almo in Corsica (which aim is also to rip off their customers) mentioned some minor scratches on the car (no visible damage or accident happened) and refused to release the down payment, they said it was up to EconomyCarRental to refund me this money, as I have taken out full insurance in case of any damage.
Since then, every other day EconomyCarRentals requested and gave me new information. Every day I have to explain my situation to a new customer service rep as they don't bother to read the history of the conversation nor bother to log any precious communication they have had with me. It has been an ongoing conversation with clearly untrained staff that simply don't care or have no knowledge about the rules or policies they provide. It has been more than frustrating to deal with such incompetent people to fight for the money that they owe me. Now, almost 2 months later, I will seek legal advice as this is getting ridiculous. What exactly is the point of taking out and paying full accident insurance if the company makes it extra difficult to get your down payment back? I have told all my friends and colleagues about this experience and they will never rent cars through this company again. All they are trying to do is rip off people, delay answers and not get back to you for weeks in hope that the customer will give up and they get to keep the money.
The latest information I received today is that I should send a pile of documents via post to some headquarters in Greece. I live in Switzerland and have taken the policy from here. This is the cherry on top as I never received any paperwork via post. And I will most definitely seek legal advice as my rights as a paying customer have been neglected. My tip never ever go with this company when it is about renting a car. The most incompetent people you will ever come across.

I rented a car in hawaii, I used my debit card and they wanted to charge me $370.00 of fees just for using my debit card. Then I used my credit card and they refunded me $50.00 short. They said they don't usually give refunds so I should be happy. Then two weeks later another charge came on my card for $49.85 for no reason. I have emailed and called and they said the matter is closed. No reason given for extra charges! Stay away from this company and check your card for charges weeks after the deal has been done and the car was returned without and problems. Stay away!

I have rented a car from this site more than 10 times and I very satisfied.
Thank you for a great service, the pickup and drop off meet were perfect.
We were picked up from Adelaide Airport and drive to Atlas car rental desk 10-15 min away, welcome by nice agent which upgraded us to a large SUV, which was comfy and big enough for our luggage. It was very nice to see how the agent checked that our pre booked insurance was good and didn't try to ask us purchasing another insurance- for me it's reliability. The car wasn't new but very convenient and functional, reliable and perfect for our needs. 2 thumbs up!

We regret to see that you did not enter the flight number of yours or you did not contact the local supplier to inform them of this delay (before the requested pickup time), in order to wait for you.
This case was marked as no show that night and according to our cancellation policy, no refund is possible for the down payment. The balance amount (written on your voucher) will be not charged, on the contrary of the other broker companies that the whole rental cost is prepaid and in such cases you risk the whole amount of the rental.
