I've been in school all my life and I've never had such a great teacher as Helena. She's patient, fun and keeps me challenged. I have loved learning from her the past year. It has been a transformative experience-not just being able to do my tones correctly now, but just being more confident as a person. Thank you Helena!

I married a Mandarin-speaker, and I have wanted my kids to be exposed to the language in a more formal setting. But not too formal, since we're juggling soccer practice and a million schedules. This has been the perfect fit for our family. The kids are improving every day, their teaching is giving them so much more than I could at home, or my husband could when he's not working. Highly recommend!

I've always been interested in Chinese culture and dreamed of visiting China as a child. Once I got to college I never actually tried to learn the language and went for a major that steered me away from learning languages. After I graduated, I decided I would make my childhood dream come true and visit China. A week became a month, and I surprised myself and my family by deciding to stay in China for a year and work as an English teacher. At this point I had only picked up a couple of phrases and found that I had a lot of difficulty getting around and needed help doing practicing everything when it came to getting an apartment etc. I felt a little bit like a baby again and wanted my independence. I did some research and decided to give eChineseLearning a go, I liked the idea of flexible classes. A couple of months in I really started to pick up the language, and by the end of my year in China I could get around by myself and communicate on most simple subjects. Its been a great experience for me, and I intend on continuing studying with my eChineseLearning teacher, who is a total babe.

This year my husband's company merged with a Chinese company and we quickly learned that we'd be spending 6 months in Shanghai at the beginning of this summer. You can imagine it was a surprise! My husband was too busy to study Chinese, so I signed up for lessons with echineselearning. I thought that I'd study with them a few times a week then have classes with my family to relay what I'd learned online.

Actually, it worked out fairly well. My children and husband still struggle with the tones, but I feel that I have them down pretty well. At least, when we're in Shanghai, I'll be our Chinese leader!

I had the choice of spending $ on study abroad (1 semester) to learn mandarin, or I could put my money towards 2 years with eChineseLearning. So much more affordable, and I'm so glad I chose them. I keep on the classes with my assigned teacher, and she keeps pushing my pronunciation, accent, the tones, everything. Never could have learned the amount of vocab I learned from that study abroad semester.

EChineseLearning has been the best investment in my career so far, apart from my BA, I suppose. I've been in business management for years, but just 1 year with them has boosted my clientele and my reputation, because of the relationships I've been able to build with Chinese partners. Highly recommend their service.

You may be aware of the boss of a test, HSK. You might not hear of it in some circles, but in China and for work involving Chinese it is going to come upand more importantlythe score you get on it. It is the standardized test that scores your level in Mandarin and its very prestigious. The highest you can go is HSK 6 which is native level Mandarin. I first took the HSK 3, which is worlds below HSK 6. I did alright, very scraped by, but I needed at least HSK 5 to study at my university of choice in China. I had exactly 8 months and I knew some extremely intensive study was in store for me. After about a month of self-study online, I felt like I needed some help. So I ended up taking the HSK prep course with eChineseLearning. It was 7 crazy months and the classes gave me the direction I needed to keep working for my goal. Needless to say I got the score I needed, HSK 5 baby.

I'm a postgrad who is dipping her toes in Mandarin, finally. I teach for a living, so I'm hard to please when it comes to taking classes. I've been very impressed with the content and pace of my one-on-one Skype lessons. Language is something that needs to be lived to be learned, in my opinion, but this allows me to keep up with my normal life here at home while getting a genuine taste for Mandarin from a native speaker. It keeps me on my toes, and because I invest in classes on a yearly basis, I'm motivated to keep my contract to myself and keep up with my lessons. Well done, eChineseLearning.

I've been planning my trip to China for YEARS. I really wanted to get a feel for the language before I went, so I looked around online and found eChineseLearning. I did 2 classes per week for 6 months prior to taking my trip. IT MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD! I could actually get around town without being glued to my iPhone and impressed a few locals. Lifechanging in SO many ways. Definitely worth the dough!

I plan to stay with eChineseLearning for a long time. They offer a great variety of courses like children, teen, business, HSK prep courses, travel and lots more. Plus every program comes in multiple levels beginner-advanced so you can track your improvement. All their lessons are individualized to meet the needs of the student through one-on-one live lessons. I highly recommend eChineseLearning to anyone interested in studying Mandarin Chinese.

eChineseLearning.com has been one of the best things I've done this year. Both scheduling classes and having the decision on what to learn are (both) very flexible, so I can learn at my own pace and focus on my problem areas. It is much more focused on me than any other program I have been in. Since I often find myself in China for work, my teacher has been showing me phrases specific to my industry, so I can usually immediately put what I've learnt to the test. I feel like I really am able to impress business partners in China with my new knowledge. Simply put, eChineseLearning is in a league of its own. No other program on the market can equal it for depth or value. Students avoid the often stale environment of endless repetition and worksheets. Every class is a lively experience with a native speaker reinforcing students' grammar, introducing colloquialisms and offering encouragement exactly when it's needed. I feel this has been one of the best investments of my life.

My parents had been been pressuring me for years to learn Chinese but didn't really have the patience or qualifications to teach me, even though they are Chinese. I tried to learn on my own or with my Chinese-American friends, but it's tough to figure out where to start.

I decided to go with online classes and choose eChineseLearning for the quality of their free trial and good customer service. I made great progress online, then could practice with mom and dad at home!

I've been wanting to learn Mandarin ever since I was in middle school (a while ago). But I also work full-time and don't have the space in my schedule to do classes at community college or university. EChineseLearning has made it possible to do both--they work around my availability and make sure my lessons are right on time. I've been taking classes with with them for 6 months and I'm already getting my tones down. Helen, my teacher, is the BEST!

I started as an intermediate level student, having been raised in a half mandarin-speaking household. But I really wanted to make it an advanced language speaking level, and my confidence has never been high enough to get there. I've had the same teacher for over a year, and can't believe my improvement. The online classes keep me motivated and on track. But more than anything I can speak with confidence with my fluent mandarin relatives now. I'm not so unsure and shy in high-speed converseations. Huge difference.

In Los Angeles it's easy to find someone to speak Spanish with, but it's a bit difficult to find a Chinese language partner, since most Chinese are busy with business and school. I decided to avoid traffic and just study from the computer at home. I took a few free trial lessons with various companies and then decided to go with ECL. No regrets! It's the next best thing to going over to Asia.

I decided to give teaching English a shot and China has the highest salaries at the moment, so I decided about six months ago to move to Beijing. I've lived in Mexico before and had success learning some Spanish through books and tapes. After picking up some books at the library and trying to learn Chinese on my own, I was getting nowhere. It's just too high a hurdle if you haven't been around it much in your life. I shopped around online and went with e-chinese-learning, as I liked the customer service and free features. I've made great progress so far and I'll continue the lessons even when I arrive in Shanghai in September for the teaching season.

It is hard to keep studying Chinese, especially when you are a mom with a full-time job. I don't have time to go to class or meet a tutor somewhere and leave my kids alone after school. So the Skype classes work perfectly for me. I can meet the teacher, who is all the way in China I might add, from my couch. My daughter is also learning Chinese at school and it is a lot of fun, since we can practice together. The school curriculum is really slow and they learn just a little bit each day, but with my private classes I learn at a much faster pace and my daughter sits in on the lessons when she doesn't have homework. She has great grades in Chinese because of this and is always one step ahead of the class. In the summer, she always takes the eChineseLearning summer programs which are amazing since she doesn't go two months without study or practice and even learns a ton! We have a blast with eChineseLearning and the teachers are so friendly and fun. They feel like a part of the family, especially my primary teacher. I really recommend it as a way to learn Chinese for families.

I lived in Japan for 5 years in high school and speak Japanese fluently. Nine months ago I started taking Chinese lessons with eChineseLearning, and take 3 lessons a week. Why did I choose eChineseLearning? From learning Japanese, I know that taking 1-on-1 lessons is the best way to learn a language (at least for me). Taking private lessons shortens the time it takes to learn a language by years. It goes at my pace and I get the chance to speak much more often than if I was taking group lessons. All the teachers are professional and put a lot of effort into improving each class. The online portal is simple to use and only takes a few clicks to book a lesson. I can see when my primary teacher is free, and if she isn't at a time I like, then I can book with another teacher. I can change and cancel lessons with a few mouse clicks. Taking lessons over Skype is like being with the teacher, but even better because I can take the class from home.

Better than school
August 9, 2016

I'm so glad I went with this program vs. taking or spending more time and money on language courses in school. I have learned so much more than I did at my first semester of college Chinese course. It's the custom nature of the lessons and speaking with a native teacher. Definitely recommend.

I take classes for learning business Chinese, and it has always been my dream to work with Chinese companies. I love eChineseLearning because I can take classes that are completely personalized to what I want to study. It is just me and the teacher so we can focus on strengthen my weaknesses and pushing my strengths. This kind of study is really good if you are motivated, you don't want to hang out in the back of the class, but actually learn with all the focus on you. There is also no embarrassment if you mess up, just you and the teacher. I give it 5 stars. In the end, your rate of progress depends on you and your motivation, but that doesn't mean a good program won't accelerate that process forward.
