The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the quality of unique items and positive experiences with customer service. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns, including inflated shipping costs, poor communication, and issues with product authenticity. Many customers report dissatisfaction with the handling of returns and complaints, often facing unresponsive support. Overall, while there are pockets of positive feedback, the prevailing sentiment suggests a decline in service quality and transparency, leading to frustration among long-time users and potential legal actions from dissatisfied customers.

I enjoyed the bidding. Pickup in Cincinnati was easy and efficient. Streamlined for COVID. Item is beautiful and just as expected. Very pleased.
I've been searching for a piece like this and you offered exactly what I wanted. This was my first purchase and won't be my last. The entire experience was easy peasy.
I won an item on an auction on 6/22/2020. They immediately charged my card $498. I checked in regularly to find out when it would ship. On August 9'th they refunded my purchase without notice. When I questioned them, they stated they "could not find the item I won". Either they have theft issues in their warehouse or they lack integrity. Either way, stay away.
*** 2nd Update: (July 2020) I wrote an honest review and provided pictures of two negative EBTH experiences (after several good purchases) last year. I posted an update out of fairness to the company regarding resolution of the issue. I subsequently deleted the app and have not used their service since. Recently, however, I tried to log in to my account to obtain invoices and descriptions of items won, in case we were not able to keep them in our new home and have to list them for sale. Apparently my account was "closed" by the company and without any communication from them informing me of this action. Another red flag from EBTH. Just wanted to share an update for those who were considering shopping from or selling with EBTH.
*** 1st update: (originally posted as a comment in March 2019) For anyone considering purchasing with this company, I wanted to post an update out of fairness: I was originally told by customer service that there was nothing they could/would do as the backing is not integral to the rug. The color differences and staining were not mentioned or addressed. (That was one phone call and four emails two back and forth.) I let customer service know that was deeply disappointing, given their pictures and description, and that I would be reviewing their site accordingly. I posted reviews (and pictures where possible) on the app store, Better Business Bureau, and here. I received responses via two of those outlets and was asked to reach back out to EBTH. I did so providing a synopsis of the customer service response to-date, a screenshot of the review, and attaching the pictures that were posted publicly. After many back and forth emails (16 in total), I was told that a $75 partial refund as a courtesy was the most that could be offered. I advised that I would like a full refund and asked that the case be escalated to a supervisor. I let customer service know that I had the original packaging and would be happy to drop the item off for shipping or they could arrange for a courier to come to my home to pick it up. I also advised (after speaking with my credit card company) that if after management review a $75 partial refund on a nearly $300 item was sincerely the best that could be done, I would take the rug and the EBTH item listing to a professional, get a second opinion, dispute the charge, and have the charge adjudicated by a third party. I never spoke with or was contacted by a supervisor but was given a pre-paid UPS label and told that upon receipt of the item a full refund would be issued to my credit card. It was communicated that this was, under no uncertain terms, a ONE TIME courtesy. Bottom line: there are ways to return items that have did not meet their listing descriptions, but be prepared to work for them. EBTH's customer service does not make it easy. I have received my refund and have since deleted the app. I don't want to risk being fooled by their misleading listings again and be stuck with the next item.
I had three great purchases with EBTH, but will not use it after my last two. Their images are heavily edited; I've had two rugs arrive that were drastically different looking than in their pictures. The written description of the conditions are intentionally vague. In my most recent purchase, EBTH went so far as to show two separate images of the leather binding on the back of the rug (one corner and one cropped bit along an edge) appearing to be in perfect condition; upon receipt it is actually coming completely undone on two corners and shows when flat on the floor.
EBTH's customer service failed to address their intentionally deceptive listing and told me that "the edge support tape is not integral to the rug and would be a very simple repair."
I will not be shopping with them again, personally or professionally. I would urge others to shop with caution, especially for rugs or anything fabric.
The wrong description of the purchase. I did and what was described as 18 karat gold 16 inch necklace with blue crystals. The necklace arrived completely the way it was described except It was rose gold! I don't wear rose gold and the supervisor could have cared less and told me that they change their policy and they don't put yellow gold white gold or Rosegold on the description any longer. Certainly that's not acceptable anyone buying anything from this company yet a loan over a $400 purchase for a necklace that is not what it said or was advertised to me Beware! You will not be satisfied if you think it's yellow gold and it comes as white gold or if you think it's white gold and it comes as yellow or rose Simply on acceptable
I purchased a piece of art from EBTH and was delight with how quickly it shipped and arrived (I'm on the west coast). Not to mention, the piece was packed immaculately and arrived in tip top condition. I can't wait to order again!
They changed my bid and then bid me up to the maximum which was 5 times what the item was worth. I disputed the bill and they keep re billing me every month Dishonest company
This website is a scam. I sent them two boxes of stuff. They listed some my things incorrectly and denied that others came from me! One was an antique my mother gave me. It was one-of-a-kind. I had to send them a photo I took of the item in my house. They finally paid me for that but not for anything else I didn't have photos of. Then I bought a Fendi bag on their site and it was a fake. They are scammers.
We won a lot on this auction site, which was identified as two stained glass panels. However, when we received them, they were not stained glass at all. The colorful design consisted of a plastic or resin overlay on plain glass. They did not allow us to return them, citing the auction terms of as-is condition. However, we were not disputing the condition of the items, but rather the authenticity. They lied about the items. We will never buy anything on this website again.
It's a wonderful auction site with a bit of everything and anything there. I've never had a problem. But don't go there, i don't need anymore competition when bidding.
EBTH seems to be continuing its business with integrity. Almost all authentications are correct and never done to try to mislead. I have been very happy with my higher end purchases keeping in mind that one is responsible for their own due diligence before bidding. They certainly are more reputable than other on-line auction sites, IMO.
Antiques were always accurately described with many pictures. It is up to the buyer to determine how much to bid and the value of the item. I have always been happy with any item purchased from them. Everything is always very well packed and promptly shipped. My favorite site.
Ebth is the only on line company my friends and I will deal with. It is so easy to bid on. No buyers fees!
EBTH is a very great organization to do business with. VERY PROFESSIONAL. My purchase was accurately described and they packed the item so well that when I received it, it was perfect. Thank you
This was my first time bidding on anything and they made it so easy and kept me informed as to when my son would ship. Very friendly customer service staff! I bid on a Seth Thomas Ship's Bell Clock (all brass) and it is beautiful and works perfectly!

The bidding process was straightforward, when I won my item I received regular email updates as to payment and shipping process. My item arrived at my door less than a week after the bidding ended, and was exactly as represented on the website - except that it was even better than I expected! Will definitely use EBTH anytime I am looking for items for our home.
I dealt with curteous, professional people who present my work accurately. My transactions have been handled in a timely way and i am impressed with the knowledge of the curatorial staff.
Just received my latest purchase... as always great and prompt. Never disappointed with my pieces. When a piece was delivered broken, they took care of the refund in a very pleasant transaction.
I've purchased antiques, artwork and jewelry from EBTH for the past several years. I've never been disappointed. Descriptions are accurate, even to pointing out flaws that are almost undetectable with the naked eye. Packing is meticulous and I've never had an item arrive damaged. Best place on the internet for unique, high-end items at wonderful prices.
Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
