Customer service is NON-Existent at this company. They claim that items are already packaged and ready to ship but then it sometimes days or weeks (I've read other reviews where it was months) to actually ship the items. This is absolutely unacceptable in 2017. Even the most novice, rookie, eBay or Etsy seller knows you must ship same day or next day. How a company of this size cannot understand this is mind-boggling. It is my opinion that EBTH is for the seller and does not care AT ALL about the buyers. I will NEVER purchase an item again through this website. I strongly recommend you run as far away from this company as you possibly can.
Make sure if you're bidding on an item that's not in your state to check out the shipping costs. Although EBTH is all over the country, it doesn't make a bit of sense to bid on anything outside of realistic driving distance because the shipping is not only high, high, high but inconsistent. Recently, I purchased 12 items from a sale and spent almost as much on shipping as I did the items. Bittersweet. And, if you wait for customer service to give you an answer as to why, you'll be like one of the vintage items for sale. I've had a similar experience to the previous reviewer on a Simon Pearce lamp. Clearly had won the bid... ah, not so fast. The clock was reset 4 times so the other person ultimately won. It's not an auction. It's a sale. Big difference EBTH.
I find beautiful items, although, you do have to fish through to find what you like. Shipping is fabulous, they pack everything well and ship quickly. I order regularly from EBTH and have always been very happy with my buys. The best part is that you find these items from the ease of your home or office. I love EBTH!
My first experience with EBTH was very good: item was in excellent condition as described, and the local pick up went very well.
My second experience has been terrible. I won the item February 21 in a long-distance auction. Paid the item cost and very expensive shipping cost on February 21 and knew it could take 8 weeks to receive it. The item was marked as shipped weeks ago, however, I have heard nothing about when to expect it. I called once and never received a call back. The second time I called, I was told the item would be picked up the next week and delivered the week after that. I still have not received the item nor been given any solid estimate as to when it will arrive. We are now nine weeks from when I paid for the item. I will never bid on a long-distance item again.
Carefully watch what they are charging to ship your item. What should cost $10-20 will run $45+. This is really ridiculous. And, when you buy multiple items that could be shipped together (as they come from the same vendor/place i. E. paper art in a tube), EVERY piece has over-charged shipping costs. The company should NOT be making money on shipping. Very disappointed in what I thought was going to be a great auction site.
They have the worst customer service ever. Charged me twice to my cc after paying in full with cash at the pickup. Very confused staffs with unacceptable solution and very slow response to any issues. This company definitely needs a lot of improvement especially on their customer service. I have been using them for about 6months now and from this point, I will never buy anything from them. They suck! Period! I stick with Ebay for used goos from now on.
I bid on a coffee table and won at a great price. But when I went to pay and to see about where locally I had to go in Atlanta I was charged a $30 additional fee just to pick it up! A used coffee table won at $6 is an awesome deal but not at $36. And it has taken EBTH almost a week to respond and the item they are referencing isn't even the one in question! Poor customer service and the bait and switch is beyond unethical and could be illegal. Next message is to the State of Georgia in a formal complaint. This company is a mess!
EBTH used to be very accurate in checking and describing items. The last 4 items purchased, were significantly and obviously broken in several spots but marked "Condition: Good" precluding any type of gifting or resale. Customer service is not at all helpful, and really not very nice at all! Just lost total trust in this company! I will be closing my account.
Won 3 ben Hamptons' never received them never found out what happened. Now I have won another Ben Hampton at a super price and they even issued a tracking #. Inquired twice by email and talked to customer service. There has been no word from them so i had to call credit card company. I will no longer bid with these people.
So. First time using ETBH. I purchased some small jewelry items for my mother.
They billed my credit card immediately. No worries. That seems normal. However. Over two weeks have gone by. And no ship date... there is a USPS tracking number, but when I check that. The statement from Postal Service is. EVTH still haven't shipped package.
I called. Got thru. Third try. Very nice lady told me, she didn't know when it would ship, and to call back Monday. That by calling Monday, my package would move up on some priority list.
So. I'm stuck paying for a package now, that hopefully may come at some unknown date in future.

I have purchased 3 times and picked up the items at sale location at no charge. This time I am bring charged a 30.00 fee to pick up items. The only place this fee is listed is in shipping, which was not my intention as I would only pick the item up. This is deceptive business practices and I will contact the Massachusetts Attorney General's office. Do not do business with this group. EBTH did reach out after 3 calls and waived the pick up fee. It also appears more often than it did when I posted this review. I still will not work with them again.
I have bought several items from EBTH. Local warehouse pickup has been fine. I am waiting for items to be shipped from Florida to my home in Ohio since Feb 27th... today is April 20th. I have called 8 times and been told literally 8 different things. "We have to ship the items individually" "UPS is really picky about what they take" "Let me check on that and I will get back to you" "We had to set that up for home delivery" "It may take up to 6-8 weeks in some cases" "There is nothing I can do"
Why would a company collect money for shipping up front and not ship goods for 60 days? Why would a company pay to warehouse goods for 2 months after they have been sold and paid for? This is the WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE in my life.
I read many of the negative reviews here about EBTH... but had hopes based on the few positive reviews. I found one of mother's paintings for auction at much less than I have bid on at other fine art sites. I easily won the auction and her painting arrived, very well packaged, in excellent condition.
So, I rate this company 5 stars 100%. I hope your experiences are as satisfactory. Tom
What a miserable experience. Won a ring. Paid the $450.00 with Visa immediately. Waited the 10 business days for a tracking number and nothing happened. Called them and asked about the status of the piece on a Friday afternoon. Its packed and ready to ship she said. Why dont i have an email stating that a shipping label has been created I said. Oh that can take up to 24 hours for the package to show motion. OK, so Ill have a number by Monday, and the item next week.
Then it all goes straight down the drain. Monday comes, no email with a tracking number. I call again. Yes, its packed and ready to go out today. (What happened to UPS was picking it up with Fridays shipments?) Tuesday... nothing. Wednesday... nothing.
Thursday afternoon... Hi, sorry to be a pest, but when are you planning on shipping? I say. OH, dont worry, the ring was hand carried to shipping this morning. She says. Thats interesting, it was sitting on the dock ready to go out last Friday. Did it sprout legs and run and hide somewhere because its afraid to travel? Says I. She offered some sort of lame excuse which I shot down by reminding her of her own statement about the package being on the dock the prior Friday.
I hung up, called Visa, initiated a fraud complaint. Called them back and said either ship it COD or refund my money, in the interim theyll be dealing my Visa provider on a suspected fraud complaint. My account received a refund for the full amount the next day.
I dont think the ring ever existed as anything more than a picture on my screen. I even offered to drive to Cincinnati and pick it up as Im only a couple of hours away. After all, it was packed and ready to go. Have someone sit it on their desk, they had my money, I wanted my item. They wouldnt allow me to come pick it up.
If you do buy from EBTH, I hope your experience ends up better than mine.
This company has not a clue it is come to the home and get out as quick as possible a bunch of gypsy's has more regard for your belongings than these lazy good for nothing people. No idea how to describe anything. Just stay away from this band of stumble bums
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. WHEN THEY GROUP PICTURES IT IS TO THERE ADVANTAGE BECAUSE THEY GROUP EXPENSIVE THINGS WITH NON EXPENSIVE ITEMS AND GIVE AN OVERALL DESCRIPTION, THE EXPENSIVE PIECE IN THE GROUP IS NOT WRITTEN IN A WAY THAT WOULD STAND OUT. LIKE A MATISSE LITHO WITH GOOD PROVENANCE IS GROUPED WITH LESS IMPORTANT PIECES. THE SELLER WANT NOTICE UNTIL BIDDING HAS STARTED. THEN THEY GET SOMEONE ELSE TO BID AND EVENTUALLY SALE THE MATISSE OR OTHER EXPENSIVE PICTURES FOR THEMSELVES. SMELL LIKE A CLASS ACTION!
I have done business with this company for a couple months. The first couple of errors on shipping and description I let it go. Until I was mailed a piece that I was suppose to pick up the item cost was 8 dollars and they charged me 42 and it was a flat plate. No special packing just thrown into a UPS standard box and not even wrapped. Customer service was rude and wouldn't do anything about it. I also received sterling silver goblets that I won for 66 and on the description it states some dents. There were significant dents all over each of them. Be very careful when using them they are very deceitful and very very very poor customer service

Purchased an item 5 weeks ago. Still have not received. Was charged $400+ for shipping alone. Awful customer service. Would not recommend to anyone. They claimed 8 weeks was standard. Sorry, but if you are charging that much for shipping, it should arrive at my doorstep the next day.
Items received are not as described. Dimensions of jewelry are incorrect. Pieces are MUCH smaller than depicted. Pictures are magnified way out of proportion.
Shipping charges are also exorbitant.

Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
