I wish I could give one star. I sold an item for $200 online. The buyer apparently claimed that the purchase was "unauthorized" immediately following the purchase, but continued to message me on eBay confirming that they wanted the item shipped. It ended up being a hacker that got into the buyer's account. I shipped the item after consulting with eBay as to what I should do, given that the activity was suspicious; they told me to go ahead and send it. Because of the dispute, PayPal charged me for the full amount of the item, AND the scammer received the headphones. I am out almost $400 now and have about a dozen calls in to both PayPal and eBay. I have had to contact USPS, Postal Inspection, FBI, as well as local law enforcement to let them know about the theft. Almost every time I sell an item, there is some sort of issue. I get the same response that I am not protected, despite all of the evidence that I have through eBay's messages. Terrible company.

Beware of some sellers
August 25, 2019

Always do your homework first! Example of some unscrupulous sellers. Looking to buy a 1998 Cubs Barbie and sellers are selling 2000 yr Barbie and advertising as 1998. Even when I contact them, they ignore the truth. Some sellers asking $500-1500 for a $20 doll. Know the product number and packaging. Don't be fooled or cheated by the unsavory.

This is literally the worst company in the world... always side with the buyer in everything. I was mailed back for a return an empty package-was forced to take a $300 loss. Thanks, useless customer support.

EBay,

You are yourself a fraudster, a thief and a robber, so it is a pleasure for you to raise a fraudster, a thief and a robber sellers like of you, and with the them steal people's money.

Whene you wrote that yours own sponsored fraudster, a thief and a robber "partner" seller "home_garden360" refunded my money $104.51 which "home_garden360" robbed from me by your helping and sponsorship, is real?

"This return is now completed. The seller refunded $104.51 to your original payment method in PayPal. PayPal transaction "

EBay, I have facts from my PayPal personal page (Which attached now) that you lie, and in real your own sponsored fraudster, a thief and a robber "partner" seller "home_garden360" refunded me only $8.52 and not my full money $104.51

Spit on you fraudster, a thief and a robber eBay and on your own sponsored fraudster, a thief and a robber "partner" seller "home_garden360".
You both same irreparable dirt and rubbish.
Your place is in the trash box.
You have not self-respect and pride.

I am both seller and buyer. From both ends: buyers are way better protected than the sellers and there is a lot of room for a scam no matter how genuine seller you are. For other buyers: if your item came as not described, you can always start a case with eBay and most likely it will be decided in your favour. So there is no need to leave negative reviews - I guess many people who did that just don't know about these features. If the case is decided in your favour, you will be fully refunded and seller forced to accept return and charged full amount.
However, it does not work the other way round. In general, sellers are way more exposed than buyers - we can't even start a case against dishonest buyer and by default the buyer is always right. I've had few issues already despite being super transparent in my descriptions, posting high res photos of actual items + packaging, sending them exactly as described and my items are not cheap (1000+). And every time I am thinking - what will the buyer complain about this time?
The good thing about eBay is very accessible customer support: you can email, call and chat. However, the outcome really depends on the competency of the person sitting at the other end and they are not always trained to help you solve cases which are even moderately complex. I'd expect better service and better protection for the fees eBay charges you off every sale.
Still they are way better than Etsy and other selling websites although there is a lot of work to be done to make it really safe trading environment.

Brought an alien statue from this seller( friend-jp ) for US $349.99 as a guest buyer. Seller's description stated statue as very good condition and told me that he/she will inspect the item cause the item is in the warehouse.

Item arrive on time. Upon inspection on the statue looks mint in condition but the sad part is that when I try to attach the tail key right into the back of the statue keyhole the part around the key area couldn't hold the tail cause the keyhole apparently got tampered too big to hold the the tail key.

I decided to just consider myself unlucky to got scam for the first time and leave seller negative feedback of what happen but guess what? Upon hitting the " give feedback " button and entered a temp password provided by ebay I got the instant suspension notice.

That's make me wonder if ebay is trying to protect itself and seller from liability of what happen.

Bottomline stay away from ebay.

Better return policy and they don't censor your reviews. You can find ANYTHING on Ebay and they have strated shipping things much faster than before since Amazon offered free 2 day shipping with prime membership.

Not really
August 1, 2019

I ordered many items. Only few came and dont know if the problem was by the Posts.
The delivery is risky and takes long time.
Hard to track items. Hard to say if sellers sent it anyway.
The only good thing for me in this site is that if you wont get ur item, Ebay makes sure u got refund.
But it takes time, like two months after purchase. It just stressed me out to shop there.

I use to use Ebay over 5 years ago to sell things, however nowadays they nickle and dime you for everything when you sell an item! It is very misleading and when you call into customer service, all they tell you is that you need to be looking closer when you list an item. I miss the old Ebay that would allow you to sell an item how you needed to without worrying about being charged extra fees. I will be looking elsewhere for better service and more appropriate fees.

There are shortcomings/inadequacies on nearly every eBay page, from listing forms to search capabilities to results pages. As if they just began business a week ago and launched too soon, this company has made leaps and bounds bruising themselves consistently for 20 years now. I would have never imagined seeing policy and site/system changes go so wrong so badly. As if the policy and system decisions are made by children who have never actually used or understood the marketplace or business. Why would I want to include toys in searching for industrial tool parts? They do not allow selecting or de-selecting multiple categories. Major page changes have eliminated security tools and critical sales data. The ability to set buyer performance criteria has never been attempted for items of high value. Would you allow children into Christie's Auction?
