Sold a new/sealed game to a individual. Buyer says I sent a used game with a damaged case. Ebay rules in favor of buyer. I pay ship costs both ways plus seller dues. Then receive a devalued item. Basically trading someone a new copy for used plus paying them to do so. Sold the game for $20. Now just spent $10 in fees and get a damaged used game in return. Great way to push out individual sellers just selling unused items for more return then GameStop. What a joke. No where else can you open a new game and be able to return it for a full refund. Was told they would take care of it right after the claim started. EBAY changed their minds. Now all the costs etc fall on me.
I got scammed by a buyer that stole my item and Ebay also refunded him all the money out of my account.
I have been a member for many years - you must watch the reviews and pay close attention to them. I think that has kept me safe from bad sellers. I have had very few problems and when I have had problems - eBay has back up with either holding the seller accountable or allowing another repercussion. There have been many companies that have tried to copy this and have failed. I have heard horror stories about other sites so I believe that eBay is doing ok and a well-trusted site in keeping up with trying to keep scamming down to a minimum. :)
Tracked Postage Isn't Enough!
I have just been scammed for £1100 without any support from Ebay, the member who scammed me had 0 feedback although I am a top rated power seller! I sent an items via a tracked and signed service and although the item was showing as delivered the buyer somehow managed to avoid signing. They then complained the items wasn't received although the status on the courier website and even on Ebay showed as delivered! I also provided a receipt showing address the item was delivered to along with date and time it was sent and if this wasn't enough I also provided an email from the postal service confirming delivery but guess what? EBAY STILL REFUNDED THE SCAMMER! Pathetic and very disappointing!
I purchased an item on January 29,2020 and paid immediately. I also paid 21.10 for the item to be mailed. I had read that the seller takes 10 after they receive their payment to get item to you. I checked and found out the Seller was paid immediately right after I paid for the item so I thought the item would arrive in 10 days which would have been 2/8 no item. I contacted this Seller and was told they were CHALLENGED and therefore they would think I would understand WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ANYWAY? So I ask Ebay for help I was told that the Seller was a Power Seller and that Ebay agrees with their shipping habits WHAT? So I still have no item paid 21.10 for shipping which is expensive and got NO HELP FROM EBAY I DON'T EVEN HAVE A TRACKING NUMBER. HORRIBLE
They don't care a out the customer when they screw up. Ive been an Ebay customer for years and have never had a reason to use their customer service. They billed my account incorrectly. After several hours of me calling them, escalating it to "supervisors", some of whom hung up on me, I finally got them to issue a credit. They never want to admit that they screwed up. They hear what they want and use poor excuses to justify that they don't care about providing service to the customer. I specifically asked Mark who is a "Manager" how I can file a formal complaint. He said that there isn't a way... then hung up. Another "supervisor" named Michelle also hung up on me after she refused my request to speak with her boss. This was all regarding an Ebay problem, not between buyer / seller.
UNACCEPTABLE
These people are a joke, they do not cover their sellers at all. I shipped a brand new boxes DVD set that cost over $100 to a buyer that bid only $39 plus shipping. They received the DVDs and then the day before the 30 day cut off they asked to return them because they were scratched. They were not scratched they were new. But Ebay allowed them to get a refund for almost $50 with shipping and if I wanted the DVDs back I was gonna need to pay $15 shipping for the seller to send them back. That is total crap. They probably are scratched now so I didn't want to pay the shipping. Now I lost a $100 set of DVDs and had to give back the $50. I will never sell or buy from these liars again.
I received an email to buy $1000 worth of gift cards from someone pretending to be my boss. I went and purchased them and right away find out that it was a scam. I immediately contacted my bank to file a claim. My bank told me to contact eBay to cancel the purchase, but they refused to help in any way. I am extremely damaged in the amount of $1000 and eBay will not respond to any remedy methods. Please advise for any suggestions because I am not receiving any help with how to recover my losses.
Crappy $#*!ty company that in surprised is still even trading?.
EBay are just way too dumb and stupid just like a Lot of thier useless can't even speak well 4th world refugee agents who I am assuming are too Stupid to get a job anywhere else so guess what, they work for eBay...
I have Total Respect for my Local bin men who do a Good job unlike eBay Clown amateurs who only seem good at telling you bull$#*! and $#*!ing you up with bogus charges and thier childish little antics...
EBay id like to Stick a big knife right through your Stinking Coorprate Head and leave it there...
Don't Worry that's exactly what will happen to them eventually or maybe Amazon will say Bend Over eBay and $#*! then right up thier $#*!ing useless arse before they look at you and say No, we don't want you now $#*! off...
Ebay customer since 2005. Recently purchased a pair of shoes, ordered med and received large. The seller wanted me to pay return shipping for HIS mistake (megashoes). Ebay refused to stand behind their buyer protection when I called because I did not know how to use their system with new policies! I do NOT recommend using ebay anymore with the policy changes... buyer BEWARE!
After 18 years on Ebay I have a rating of 1476 perfect 100% both a buyer and seller.
However, I've learned some hard lessons along the way and run into a few scammers both as a buyer and seller.
In general though, Ebay has gotten much better and providing prompt and accurate help when I phone them.
Fact, I now do much of my buying on Ebay because my experiences with Amazon packing, delivery and defectives has gotten worse. Amazon now ships even delicate electronics in paper thin plastic bags.
As a seller, there are several things I ALWAYS do to avoid problems from buyers:
1. I post ACTUAL PHOTOS of the sale items.
2. If it's a device that has any chance of being defective, I test it BEFORE listing and post proof of testing.
3. I pack EVERYTHING as if a delivery person might end up throwing the package like a football.
As a buyer I' recently encountered a new seller scam:
1. Seller quickly posts tracking number number to make you think your purchase is on the way.
2. When package arrives, you find a very inexpensive free gift but NOT THE ITEM YOU PURCHASed!
3. I reported this fraudulent seller to Ebay and they stopped the sale of the laptop computers.
4. After this incident I reviewed MORE of the seller feedback than I had originally scanned and found comments indicating that this seller had done same thing to other buyers. Thus, I learned a new lesson: READ MORE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK BEFORE BUYING or to use a very old cliche "HASTE MAKES WASTE."
I listed a few items of which you never get charged for listing they just took a 12.3% commission on a sale. Well I went into today to see if I sold anything and low and behold,,, I didn't sell anything but I owe ebay $84.00 just for putting my items on their site. Since when did they start charging seller fees, does not say that anywhere on their website that they charge other than commission.? Needless to say I will not pay them one dime as its a SCAM but also PLEASE PEOPLE DO NOT LIST ANYTHING AS YOU TOO WILL GET A SHOCK and NOT SELL A THING ANYTHING AT THAT
I won few auctions on eBay and can't complain, now days there is low auctions and offer getting down... Hope glory days are back again.
It's a very safe marketplace with no risk at all, I just use this and if there is any issue eBay customer service handles any issues with the seller and provides me a full refund if the seller refuses to refund me or return the product.
They handle every issue professionally I had to call customer support for the faster process if the seller didn't reply, sometimes waiting time is a pretty much.
I was shocked to see eBay has bad reviews, I have been doing business with eBay for over 20 years without complaining, it's actually fine, and they are okay, not below average.
I have been both upset and satisfied with selling and buying. Honestly more satisfied than unhappy!
Give eBay another chance. I did and the benefits are real.
Ebay is horrible with their shipping charges. I purchased a lamp, and paid $19.00 for the lamp, and another $22.98 for shipping. When the lamp reached my cities post office there was another charge of $26.88 before I can pick up the lamp. Their calculator is not right, so it gives you the wrong amount to charge, and therefore when the people are expecting their purchase the post office will hit you with another charge. It doesn't show you zip code to zip code shipping charges and if it does it is giving you the wrong amount. If it cost $50.00 to ship a lamp that weighs no more than 5 lbs, then you better not use the post office. There has to be a cheaper method of shipping. You can buy purses off poshmark and the only shipping charge I paid was $6.99, I even had a purse shipped from Hawaii. You can also buy off Offer Up, and the shipping is not near as high as EBAY. I guess people need to stop using EBAY!
I've been an eBay member since 2014, and I've got a 100% positive rating. I was recently notified by eBay that they removed one of my listings due to it being counterfeit. The item they claim to be counterfeit was purchased by me, at a major department store, and the listing photo included the manufacturer price tag.
The message I received did not include any specific details about why eBay claimed this item to be counterfeit, nor did it offer me a way to respond/refute this accusation.
Coincidentally, prior to receiving this message, I'd been considering discontinuing using eBay to sell on, as it cost me more to sell on than Mercari. This experience made the decision to leave eBay a no brainer. Bye eBay! Terrible way to treat a longtime customer.
I gave them a one star because I finally give them a try and they disappointed me I sold an item and when the customer asked for a refund they gave it to I didn't mind but the I haven't even gotten my item back and on top of it all I have to pay for her to send me back my item and she told me that by the way your headlight is all borken this sucks so much and that headlight is worth 1300 just for one I sold it for 250 and if I can't get it back it doesn't matter she can keep it so right now I'm going through some $#*! I never would have thought that they could be so missed up well I'll let you guys now with an update
Absolutely the worst customers service! As a seller I was calling to question the new practice of charging my customers sales tax since I am in a state that does not have sales tax. The first person I spoke to was "Glenn" he could give me much information other than a standardized speech so I asked to speak to a supervisor.
"Peter" the supervisor go on the line with me. He was horrible to say the least. He spoke over the top of me, he was condensing and rude! I simply wanted to know who and when this tax issues was mandated. "Peter" went all around the issue and finally gave me the answer I was looking for... mandated by the Supreme court, only he couldn't say Supreme Court. He said Supreme Ruler. In his speech all around the issue he told me he knew what he was talking about and that I would need to get the details form my state tax expert (I live in Oregon and we do not have sales tax). When I pointed this fact out to him he got even more condescending towards me.
As a seller, as a user, and as a 70 year old woman I resent my treatment by Ebay customer service. I may move over to Amazon in the future for my sales as I will not stand for this abuse form a company I do business with!
Answer: I would never buy a used car without seeing it in person and having it checked out.
Answer: Ebay is a den of thieves. Even Ebay is evasive on complaints to answers. When looking for items, be sure to be fully informed to what you are shopping and use all that knowledge to cypher the listing, even then have found those that list items to be evasive on answers. Avoid ebay if possible!
Answer: For their own purposes and to protect dishonest sellers. I was once an avid EBay shopper, but now avoid EBay. Buyer protection no longer exists. You buy at your own risk.
Answer: Ebay sells nothing. You are dealing with private sellers. Some are good, some are not. The best way to determine this is to check the feedback. I personally never buy from anyone who has a feedback lower than 90%. 96% is considered bad, by Ebay. Take that with a grain of salt. Ebay management is nuts.
Answer: If you haven't already learned the hard way that Ebay is just pure bullshit when it comes to the sellers rights. When someone wants to send it back for any reason other than it doesn't work as described, you will be footing the bill. Not only will you lose the money you paid to ship it to them, Ebay will offer to provide a return label for them at your expense. Yep, that's right. They will bill you the price of the label if you don't provide it. Either way, you are paying for it to get back to you. It's get better. You can't leave negative feedback for the buyer either. It's not an option NO MATTER
Answer: Not to me! It's my main shopping tool! I look for good deals and free shipping!
Answer: Yes. You are right. All what people told you are correct. Don't trust ebay and the seller on ebay. Amazon much better than them. But anyway the best way to buy electronics from the local stores or official stores.
Answer: This depends on the seller of the item - carefully check their feedback and trust you intuition if you have doubts try another seller you feel safer with...
Answer: Hi Tom, As for reviews, you don't get them. It's called feedback. When you buy an item, the seller will probably leave feedback after you leave feedback for them. I hope that answers your question. Nancy
Answer: Depends on the seller. I wouldn't buy anything off ebay because there a crappy company.
