Here is the senario. I make a purchase. I receive the purchase. It isn't how the seller described it and the seller lists that they pay for return shipping. EBay states their return policy is when the seller accepts refunds and pays for the return shipping the buyer should receive the full amount refund which is the price you paid for the item plus any shipping you might have paid. But 4 times now I have only been refunded what I paid for the item and not my shipping cost?! Twice I contacted eBay and nothing was done about it. I have been with eBay since 2009 but that doesn't mean anything anymore. I'm so fed up I think it's time to shop elsewhere. EBay CS stinks! Plus most of the items are junk or coming from China.
Do not use eBay. I recently had an issue with a seller who misrepresented their item. After agreeing to a refund the seller instructed me to purchase tracked shipping outside of eBay, despite it being eBay policy for seller to pay for shipping. The seller did not refund the shipping cost and eBay is allowing this type of behavior. Furthermore, when inquired about what actions could be taken against the seller, eBay has ignored my emails. It was my understanding that eBay had appropriate measures in place to protect both the seller and the buyer, I guess I was wrong. If you run into any scams on eBay, don't expect any help to both get your money back, or penalize the scammer. They seem content to allow this type of behavior.
I HAVE BEEN SELLING ON EBAY NEAR 25 YEARS AND PACKAGES RARELY GET TO EUROPE IN LESS THAN 30 DAYS POST COVID. PACKAGE ARRIVED 4 DAYS AFTER EBAY GAVE BUYER BACK HIS MONEY. SO I AM OUT PRODUCT, MONEY $500.0 AND INSURANCE WONT PAY OUT BECAUSE TRACKING SHOWS IT ARRIVED. ****LOOP HOLE... OPEN DISPUTE EARLY, LET EBAY CLOSE IT AND ONCE IT ARRIVES IT IS FREE. SHAREHOLDERS WILL LOVE THIS AND EBAY DOES NOT GET PAID EITHER.
I have been with them for close to 20 years and they have dropped so badly in the past few years i now use other methods on most of my items. First: did you know they actually have increased their percentage to 13.25% plus 30cents now. They also charge their 13.25% on the Taxes that the buyer pays on the purchase so if it is $10 in taxes, they charge the 13.25% which will cost you $1.32 cents. They told me it is for the complete purchase and talk about double charging? This is it. I also found out we as sellers CONNOT LEAVE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON A BUYER. I was so upset to find out that a buyer can leave negative feedback in seconds but we are not able to do so. So they buyers ALWAYS have 100% positive feedback, no matter how much they screw us sellers over. I was on the phone for almost two hours to leave negative feedback on a seller which would only take them 30 seconds to do so then us sellers will have to spend hours on the phone to get it off if it is unwarranted as a lot of times it is. All in all eBay is the most on sided and the most dispised selling site on the web anymore. Again, I have almost 20 years with them and now only sell MAYBE 10% of my items on that site and now really looking at getting out like so many have been now.
I ordered 5 bottles of prime hydration limited edition lemonade and when the product arrived instead of the bottles the scammer sent me photos of the product. I paid 580$ for photos of the product. I contacted EBay and they said you have to wait for the scammer to reply and the scammer supposedly doesn't accept returns. Eventually a couple weeks later I called back because I issued a chargeback with my credit card and asked EBay for proof that I was scammed but they refused to offer me any help and they said they don't take sides and I was not allowed to return the product because it was late. My credit card rejected my chargeback and EBay basically is a supporter of scam artists which is why you need to be careful on this site. The customer support is useless and can't help in any way.
I order 2 cans of oil and I had only received 1 so I had emailed the company that I bought it from which is carousel car parts from eBay and they told me that they would refund my money but that didn't happen and the way they communicated was extremely bad I would not recommend at all buying from the seller carousel car parts
Bought an item and the seller never send it to me. He supply a chipping number but never got to me. I told him that I did not received so he told me that he will ship another one. Supply a shipping number but no item even do it say that item was delivered. I open a refund my money on eBay told them what happen even tod them and sen videos of my Ring camera on the door proving them that the mail carrier did not deliver any package and still they did not honor nor refund my money. The seller did the same to others and they got robed also because of the eBay poor buyer protection. We notice latter that the seller is selling non real items and that he is in Pakistan. Worst experience ever with eBay buyer protection. Do not buy on eBay. You will get rip off
Left justifiable negative feedback for seller due to only receiving partial refund minus 57.31 with item returned not as described seller contacted eBay and somehow eBay removed justifiable negative feedback.
Spoke with a supervisor at eBay she tried to justify removal of feedback due to seller metrics? What does that Even mean? Why bother leaving negative feedback when seller can simply Lu contact eBay and have them remove it?
Got nowhere as far as a valid explanation from eBay.
EBay is going down hill with buyers confidence
Shame on eBay for not being forthright
Bought a golf club located in Florida. Paid $150 including shipping thru eBay international shipping. Item is supposed to ship to Toronto Canada. Instead it was shipped to eBay shipping centre in illinois. Sit there for 3 weeks. There is no way to follow up. No customer service email address or phone numbers to call. After the scheduled delivery date, I submitted a refund request and gets only $96 back. Get ripped off over $50 and wasted 3 weeks of my time. Terrible experience. This site is famous and used to be good but it is now a scam. Read others horrible experiences and you will know. BBB reviews are 1 star. So is all the other reviews site. Government should look into their practice and fine them or shut them down.
Cancelled all my listings as had 3 scams in a row against 0 buyers. While eBay did flag one of them they did so well after what would have been a costly transaction.
I was suspended for no reason. I did not violate any rules or policies, I was only selling authentic designer bags.
Customer service sucked, and did not provide any further insight.
I have been trying to buy a laptop which the seller has shipped in two separate packages. One has been delivered, and the other has been returned to them. They haven't attempted a second delivery. I returned the delivered package because the received package was defective. I opened a case on eBay hoping to get a refund. Initially, the status was accepted but under review for a few days. After that, it was rejected. In the end, the seller is forcing me to pay 20% of the product if I want a refund or pay for the reshipping. I chose the former option because after this bad experience, I didn't want anything more to do with the site. In the end, I bought it on Amazon, and as always, their customer service is excellent. If you're in a dilemma between eBay and Amazon, I can tell you that cheap things end up being expensive.
This site is terrible for sellers. There is no way to dispute anything that a purchaser has said. I sold some magazines they arrived on time, in good condition with photographic proof. The purchaser wasn't there and decided to open a case. This was resolved in my favour. However, 10 reviews for separate magazines were written on my account even though these were all in one purchase. I wemy to contest these reviews, however, nothing has been done. Also the fees are now incredibly high and ebay use algorithms to get as much money out of you as possible. If I could give 0 stars I would.
UPDATE - EBAY REFUNDED ME SO CHANGED RATING FROM 1 TO 4
Bought Adidas cleats since my son wanted the same cleats he already had that wore out after two years. Since Adidas does not make this particular cleat any longer, I was forced to purchase from Ebay. He wore the shoes for soccer training 2 months and the shoes literally crumbled. He held them together with duct tape until I found new Nike cleats. These ebay shoes are in worse shape than the two year old pair we were replacing. Neither ebay nor seller will refund the money. I will dispute with my credit card company tomorrow when dispute dept opens. I should have trusted my instinct about shopping on ebay. It was my first and last purchase. Stay away unless you're positive nothing will go wrong.
EBAY has been asking me to pay 76.00 to auction.99 sport card. I canelled the auction as soon as I see the fee. Card was never sold. EBAY customer service is poor
Tl;dr: Ebay charged me $55.83 for an item I didn't sell, held $400 from a prospective buyer for several weeks after us both cancelling the transaction, and when the buyer complained about not getting their money back, eBay used it as an excuse to justify charging me $55.83.
In 8+ phone calls and chats, eBay customer service promised to pay me back for 2+ years and still hasn't.
Review:
I TESTED posting an item on eBay (having never sold anything). I decided not to sell the item within a couple days of posting the item. Ebay charged the buyer the FULL PRICE of the item, before I even verified I saw they wanted to buy it, before I shipped it. They then held the buyers money for several weeks, despite them cancelling the purchase. THEN they charged me $55.83 for their percentage of the unsold item.
I spent 2 years emailing eBay and getting reponses that they would refund the $55.83 as a one time courtesy. Instead they submitted it to collections. I sent the collection agency the chat transcript where eBay agreed to refund the balance. The COLLECTION AGENCY AGREED WITH ME. They sent the balance back to eBay. Another "ebay representative" agreed to refund the balance and told me to wait 1 day. This is a week later and they still haven't refunded the balance.
There are a lot of great platforms to buy and sell things and local places in your area. Your bank will dispute charges from a platform such as this.
Ordered a concealment clothes men's crew neck under cover shirt, holster shirt. WORTHLESS cannot hold firearm in place, slips right through hole? My husband cannot use it. Asked seller for refund and return label. Instead sent address in CHINA FOR US TO RETURN on our dime? Contacted eBay they didn't honor their own return policy?
EBay's buyer protection plan is a total scam. I recently had the unfortunate experience of finding out the hard way. I ordered a camera and due to its price tag, I requested it be delivered with my signature upon receipt. However FedEx screwed up and left the package with someone else who signed for it instead. As I live in a large building without a doorman there was no trace of the package. FedEx as usual were unhelpful and dismissive. They didn't sent me the proof of signature, which I requested twice so I could try to locate the person who received my package. EBay was equally dismissive claiming I wouldn't get a refund because the item was delivered to the correct address. Despite numerous emails, they never acknowledged that my package was delivered to someone else by mistake despite proof of this. So eBay has stolen my money without providing any kind of buyer protection. It's a total scam. I will never ever use again after almost 20 years on it. Meanwhile, I've asked my bank to step in, hoping they'll be more helpful than eBay and FedEx so I can get my money back. Shame on eBay!
I have been scamed by a seller who never shipped or responded to my messages, and you told me he has 4 more business days to solve the issue before eBay steps in to provide me a refund. Technicality more than 3 weeks to get my money back this is joke. Will delete my account and rate my experience everywhere
Ebay is a cyber playground for fraud/crime/scamming and the best part is that ebay themselves are complicit with their deliberately incompetent policies and poor customer sevice that fail to address any inappropriate behaviour, even when they are presented with clear evidence, they more often than not take no action whatsoever. The issue is they have a preference and skewed relationship with their buyers who line their pockets successfully, so will happily turn a blind eye to them as long as they are making profits.Dont take it lying down...name and shame them:

Answer: I would never buy a used car without seeing it in person and having it checked out.
Answer: Ebay is a den of thieves. Even Ebay is evasive on complaints to answers. When looking for items, be sure to be fully informed to what you are shopping and use all that knowledge to cypher the listing, even then have found those that list items to be evasive on answers. Avoid ebay if possible!
Answer: For their own purposes and to protect dishonest sellers. I was once an avid EBay shopper, but now avoid EBay. Buyer protection no longer exists. You buy at your own risk.
Answer: Ebay sells nothing. You are dealing with private sellers. Some are good, some are not. The best way to determine this is to check the feedback. I personally never buy from anyone who has a feedback lower than 90%. 96% is considered bad, by Ebay. Take that with a grain of salt. Ebay management is nuts.
Answer: If you haven't already learned the hard way that Ebay is just pure bullshit when it comes to the sellers rights. When someone wants to send it back for any reason other than it doesn't work as described, you will be footing the bill. Not only will you lose the money you paid to ship it to them, Ebay will offer to provide a return label for them at your expense. Yep, that's right. They will bill you the price of the label if you don't provide it. Either way, you are paying for it to get back to you. It's get better. You can't leave negative feedback for the buyer either. It's not an option NO MATTER
Answer: Not to me! It's my main shopping tool! I look for good deals and free shipping!
Answer: Yes. You are right. All what people told you are correct. Don't trust ebay and the seller on ebay. Amazon much better than them. But anyway the best way to buy electronics from the local stores or official stores.
Answer: This depends on the seller of the item - carefully check their feedback and trust you intuition if you have doubts try another seller you feel safer with...
Answer: Hi Tom, As for reviews, you don't get them. It's called feedback. When you buy an item, the seller will probably leave feedback after you leave feedback for them. I hope that answers your question. Nancy
Answer: Depends on the seller. I wouldn't buy anything off ebay because there a crappy company.
