Another scammed customer
February 7, 2024

My brother lost £200 when he placed an order and was somehow signed up to some scam club. They have not refunded as requested. My brother has learning difficulties/autism and can ill afford this loss. It worries me greatly that this company mainly deals with elderly customers- how much are they stealing from maybe 100s of them?

Beware especially the elderly.
November 15, 2023

My Mother age 97 has had at least £450 taken from her credit card account by this company. I have written to them numerous times to ask for a copy of the documents they supplied to her one with her signature plus a copy of what was provided to her under consumer protection regulation and data protection. They have not answered my queries but have refunded some money. Two amounts were taken out of her account of £74.95 in June 2023 and then in September 2023 (at this time she was seriously ill in hospital) otherwise they have taken £18.50 per month and some months three payments and two payments. I am pursuing this matter with the credit card company and if necessary I will issue against them through the county court as this maybe the only way to force them to provide information.
I find it unbelievable that they cannot answer three simple queries as they need to keep records for six years and how difficult is it to give me a print out of what has been taken out of my Mother's account and what the amounts are for. On researching this company I noted they have been find for breaching data protection. They have been using information on elderly people to profile them and then use this information to cold call them.

AVOID When you order items they sign you up to subscriptions of products without your consent. You end up with money being taken out of your account and products you don't want..

Scammers praying on peoples bank accounts
March 20, 2023

They get you to order then sign and charge you for a subscription you never asked for, they sell your credit card details to sister companies like premier direct and bill you for stuff that you never wanted signed or asked for.
CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT DONT USE THEM
They should be reported as GDPR is in place and if people report them they could be fined thousands, also its fraud so report them to fraud alert
I would give an overal rating as zero if i could

Do not use these con-artists!
August 22, 2022

My Mum called and ordered a plastic table off this lot for £20. Her credit card statement came and the amount they took was for £68. She had been enrolled in their Rewards Club just like lots of others on here were. She didn't ask for that service and called them twice to ask for a refund. Each time she was told they would refund the £48, each time nothing happened. My Mum, who is 94 and needs help to get about, has now had to make a special trip to her bank to sort out getting her money back as this company won't do it. I called them and they just hid behind the Data Protection Act even though I didn't need any information about my Mum or her order, and wouldn't discuss anything to do with the refund with me. If you order from this company you will have services you didn't ask for added to your bill and one impossible time trying to get a refund. Check the similar reviews from other customers of theirs on here.

Scammers?
July 16, 2022

I happened to get a Easylife catalogue & decided to look on the net. I found several sites including Sitejabber and another with some info that might assist those in need:

Martyn James of complaints website Resolver, believes Easylife is exploiting its customers. 'Older, more vulnerable people are less likely to complain or know their rights,' he says.

Mr James says your bank should dispute unauthorised payments. He urges anyone who has used the firm to check bank statements.

Camden Council in London asks anyone affected similarly by Easylife to report it to Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on ******* ******* or online at citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/get-more-help/report -to-trading-standards

So i hope this might help

"My mother was ripped off by this company a year back. So you can imagine my family's suprise when we heard from one of my nieces that she had gotten a new job with Connect Worldwide at the Easy Life Catalogue! Easy life group are a client of Connect Worldwide Services in Bristol. They hire CWS to sell their rewards clubs, garden clubs, motor clubs schemes etc... The agents at CWS call up the elderly and vulnerable customers offering them a voucher to save money off their groceries at supermarkets however hardly highlight the fact they are automatically enrolling them in the club after the trial. Agents are told not to say this, but rather, you can cancel at anytime during your trial. All the important information is read in the recap at the end of the call and they rush through it at a speed they are well aware the elderly person can't keep up or understand... They sell it like it's just the voucher and opportunity to look at the promotion however they are well aware of the tactics they use to get the customer to say "oh lovely thank you!". Without actually knowing what's going on... Most customers don't even receive anything in the post (on purpose). Because the company know many won't realise or forget completely about it. Also they may send it very late so you receive it at the end of the 20days giving you no time to cancel., they are charged P&P, yearly membership fee. And puzzle book monthly £18 ( if they managed to trick you with the double sale as well). Not a scam but very scammy how it's done. Ripping off elderly people without a care in the world. 20% of customers receive the offers. The rest are scammed out of their money. The amount of money CWS & Easylife make in just a week from pensioners banks accounts is a ridiculous amount too high to even imagine. They pay their employees at CWS £10-£12/ph and then get rid of them a few months later and employ new people for the role. A tactic they use to keep their employees fresh and unaware of what is going on, so that no questions are asked. They are VERY good at what they do! It is appalling! They also have recently started to not mention anything about easylife to customers over the phone just because they know everyone doesn't like Easylife calling them... another tactic... so now everybody can blame the Rewards Club and not the actually people responsible. The Rewards Club is run and controlled by CWWS who are employed by Easylife. Easy. The staff are forced to get a high number of sales and if not they are dismissed. My niece mentioned she'd had to leave her conscience at home while working here." I think even Easylife are unaware of how things are getting done at Connect Worldwide Services Ltd.

Disgraceful!
February 4, 2022

I recently bought a fleece cape for £14.99 plus £4.99 delivery charge.
On arrival, I tried it on and firstly, it didn't look at all like the advertised picture in their catalogue. Secondly, it didn't fit as the back was halfway between my waist and shoulders and the side arm slits were too far back. Therefore, in two words it was totally unwearable and substandard!
After contacting the company to report the problem I was told to return with a cover letter to explain why I didn't want it and that cost me a FURTHER £3.28 with Royal Mail. When the refund was processed, there was no mention of the £8.27 which I'd had to pay to receive and return the faulty item. I shall be following this up, but I don't hold out much hope as the member of staff was very abrupt when I spoke to her, almost to the point of being rude.
I really wish I'd read the reviews before ordering and I certainly will never deal with this company again.

Mail Spammer and unwanted "Rewards Club" signups
December 5, 2021

Sending thousands of unsolicited catalogues through the post - they appear to target retired people
Letters addressed to "The Householder" or similar, but they appear to hold full details on that householder.
If you buy something, check your credit card/bank account very carefully - they appear to sign people up to "Rewards Club" for £69.95 - many people have been "accidentally" signed up

My advice is be very wary of this company... their products are also very expensive - similar items can be bought in garden centres, supermarkets, B&M, Wilkinsons etc. for lower prices

Beware of this Firm
December 2, 2021

I have just had 2 payments of £70 deducted from my account for something which I said on the phone that I did not want. I would very much like to involve the police as I regard it as theft.
The customer services team are pleasant, promise the earth and then cheat you.
This firm should be shut down

Easylife/The gardening club
November 22, 2021

Received a letter today (22/11/21) that claims to have been despatched on the 4/11/21 informing us that a trial for the gardening club (which we had not agreed to) ends on the 24/11/21 and they will be making a charge of £69.99 to the most recent card used to make a purchase by us. I suggest that anyone reading this never gives any of their card or bank details to this company because it's obvious they hold on to your details in order totry and catch you off guard over the telephone, it may not be illegal to do this but it's certainly immoral especially the way they target old age persons.

Once item bought they try to sign you up to Well-being Club with subscription that must be cancelled within 20 days. They are sister company and have access to your card details kept on system?! Sub is £70 so if you don't cancel they take your money! Said I would inform police and also cancelled card and got a new one. Thanks Easylife, don't touch with barge pole folks!

Appalling unscrupulous company - do not use!
September 1, 2021

Appalling unscrupulous company. They hook you in with a purchase so that they have your details and credit card details on their database. Then they "offer" you membership of their "rewards" clubs, and take the money for the subscriptions from your credit card if you don't cancel in time. The last one had only 1 day in which to cancel, I did cancel and they still tried to collect the fee (£74) from my credit card. Fortunately my card supplier alerted me to a possible fraudulent transaction and blocked my card. I have complained to the company and had no reply. I have reported them to Trading Standards and ICO.

BEWARE Easylife Rewards club
July 27, 2021

Have ordered a few items from Easylife over years (mixed quality)
They are ok to order certain items from, but avoid Rewards Club subscription at all costs. They say there is no obligation to subscribe after 2 week free trial. When you agree, they say they will send a letter out with full details & option to cancel if you change your mind. This letter never arrived.
Have now emailed them to get my details removed from their mailing list & marketing list.
Easylife have bombarded me with brochures in the past & occasional phone calls, so best not to give them phone number.

Scammers
July 7, 2021

My wife bought a footstool from Easy Living (as seen by her mother in The Times). The footstool was of truly appalling quality. Ripped in 2 days. Then the unsolicited aggressive phone call followed to sign her up to Perx magazine. She asked explicitly for this NOT to happen. But they did - and then sent a letter saying she had signed up and would be debiting her account. These people are scammers.

I purchased some masks last year and had a letter stating that they were going to renew my Motor Club membership and they would take the money out automatically. A membership I didn't know I had and had definitely not asked for. Disgusting company trying to scam the elderly!
