Ludicrous
November 12, 2018

I placed an order from a restaurant that's about 10 minutes away from me at 9:14 a.m. My app told me it would arrive in 41 minutes. At the 35 minute mark, the app's timer all of a sudden went up to 159 minutes. I immediately reached out to DoorDash to figure out if they could contact the dasher to see if this was just an error in the app. The support person just kept giving me scripted text that wasn't relevant to what I had written. When I called him out on it, he finally stopped. He confirmed that there weren't enough driver's in my area to support the orders they were getting so even though my driver had already picked up my food, he was being sent to other restaurants to pick up orders and because of the location of my house to the last restaurant, my food would be last to be delivered. The delivery eta was now 12:18pm. Remember that I ordered breakfast at 9:14 a.m. I advised that as I had ordered breakfast and I would not be here at lunch time to meet the driver because the app did not advise it would take 3 hours. At this time, the support rep (Haggai) advised that to provide the best service I've ever had, he'd be giving me a $5 credit. I of course advised if the food wasn't coming until after I've left he'd need to refund the full order because I wouldn't be here and I'd be paying for him to not deliver food. He eventually agreed to refund the full order but said he'd make sure my food would get to me before I left. About 10 minutes later I had a credit of $10.99 (Not my full order price) and the dasher completed my order without actually delivering it. When I wrote back AGAIN, I chatted with Erika who advised that the dasher could not complete my order as they had refunded me. So in short, it's now 11 am. I have no food. At least I haven't been charged for the food. But... I spent 2 hours dealing with absolute nonsense and talking to useless support staff who kept insisting they were giving me the best door dash experience they've given anyone ever. And hey! If I'm ever feeling masochistic enough to try door dash again, I'd have a $10.99 credit waiting for me! Woo-hoo (Not.) All done. Back to Uber Eats I go.

So today I hesitantly placed another order with Door Dash, even after they messed up my last 5 orders in a row. Dear God, what was I thinking?!

I received a call from the pickup driver asking if someone picked up my order, because the restaurant told them another dasher picked it up. So apparently he called DD support and they told him another drive got the order and not to wait or deliver to me. Then I get a notification that the order was delivered. Not to me it wasn't, nor my office, or even my building. So I called DD support and they said they were going to send a new driver and issue a $10 credit. I'm already super upset and I tell the rep that $10 is unacceptable, considering their markup and the tips the driver receives. Still waiting for my order.

So this gets better. The last order I placed was wrong, just totally wrong. The order before that, the driver made me walk down the street to pick it up from his car and then told me that if I didn't like his service I could file a complaint. The order before that was a sushi order where 5 sushi rolls were smashed together into one big pile of fish and rice. DD takes no responsibility for their drivers or their restaurants associated with the company. Furthermore, all of their call centers are outsourced with reps reading from a script.

At this point I just can't believe I'm having another issue with this company, it's almost comical. I'm not using them anymore and I'm going to be calling my bank to dispute the order from today, because this is just totally unacceptable.

Suspicious dasher
October 21, 2018

I ordered a pizza. The Dasher picked up my order then brought it to a location that was 10 minutes in the wrong direction. I know this because I pulled it up on google maps. When he got there he stayed there with my food for more than five minutes. I sent him a text saying he was at the wrong address. He replayed back about 4 minutes after my message saying he is only 4 minutes away. Which was wrong. When I got the pizza it look like someone had moved the cheese off of the pizza. I decided not to eat it since it was tampered with. Door dash's solution was to give me a credit of $6.40. Which isn't what I paid for the pizza. The pizza was over $13. So the dasher gets to keep the 5 dollar tip and I get stuck with th bill. Won't be using there service again. They should of at the very least refunded the price of the pizza. It's a shame that customer service is dead in most industries.

Dishonest drivers
September 17, 2018

Charged for food we never received. Driver claimed we were not home, never came to the door or driveway. Doordash refused to refund our money. It's odd. We have food delivered from pizza parlors, grocery stores, Chinese food and instacart. The ONLY company that does not arrive or 50% of the time gets the order wrong is door dash. We have not had this problem with ubereats or grubhub. Are you getting exact; y what you ordered? Does your pizza not show up? Is doordash refunding your money of giving you credits (which are usually less than you spent) that you have to use on their service?

I ordered from a fast food restaurant via doordash. For almost 45 minutes, I saw one dasher was assigned to the order. It seemed the dasher was spending a very long time at the restaurant. Right at the time my order was supposed to have been delivered at my house, all of a sudden, it changed the name of the dasher. This dasher is now apparently 'on the way' to the restaurant to get my order, and has been for the past half hour. I tried to cancel the order as it is taking a ridiculously long time to get my order, but door dash says I cannot cancel my order at this time as 'the dasher already has my order and is on the way'.
It has taken over an hour, and I still don't have my food yet, for me to get a fast food order for a restaurant barely three miles from my home.

Shady business
December 20, 2017

I tried to place an order from Door Dash on a Thursday night for my anniversary, they quickly charge my credit card right away but the app crashed and the order never went through! I also never received any type of confirmation for my order through email or text. So I called customer service right away and they DID confirm the order had not gone through but they said they have to pass this on the higher management claims department to further "investigate" the matter. Wow What is there to investigate? The person on the line right away confirmed the order hadn't gone through, the refund should happen right away. He said in 24-48 hours the "proper department" will call me back, view my case and the refund should go through then. Well, It is next week, Wednesday morning now, had still not received any call back from them (very horrible service) so I called them once more and they gave me the run around again, "we need to investigate" and refused to issue the refund. No matter how much arguing with the supposed supervisor, she kept saying the case is still under investigation and we need to wait 5 more days. So when I first called its 24-48 hours now it is an additional 5 days, wow this company is a joke. The app crashed, order did not go through, you guys charged my credit card right away (It is funny that part of the app worked so smoothly) it was confirmed my order never went through but they are refusing to give me a refund and giving me the run around. This is an absolutely unbelievable and ridiculous business practice, I am absolutely floored they are still in business with this type of customer service. I know they saw the order did not go through, so what is this BS about "investigating the issue" this is being scammed. It has been over 5 business days already and now they are saying need to wait 5 more days to finish investigating the case. What is there to investigate for so long? This is clearly a scam, clearly a very poor business practice, very unprofessional. This was my first time and last time ever using door dash I will tell everyone I know to not use this company. Poor customer service and app crashing after conveniently taking your money! And absolutely no service in return!

Watch pricing
October 30, 2017
Updated review

Delivery service is good, but they tend to take advantage on pricing delivery. Showed special, but when delivered charged full price. When questioned tried to insert old standing ad. Watch the deception on advertising fees.

Ordered breakfast from McDonald thru Doordash. Waited and waited nothing... finally contacted Doordash. Said I refused to answer driver's request to leave order at door, so therefore they were not refunding any money $16. Plus. I have not seen nor heard from their driver. What a SCAM! No delivery no food. NEVER AGAIN

Sadly, there's no 0 star rating. I've had 3 orders with DoorDash just never show up, one of which was due to an $#*! driver named Daniel O. Who threw my food away because I asked if he was at the restaurant.

During my latest transaction with DoorDash, I had an $#*! driver named Daniel O. Throw my meal away because he got mad when I asked him if he was still at the restaurant I'd ordered from after I'd been waiting for over an hour and a half. For reference, the restaurant I ordered from is about a 7 minute drive from where I live, so curiosity as to the timing was reasonable.

Here is a transcript of our interaction:

Me: "Are you still at the restaurant?"
Daniel O.: "Whose this"

Now I'm thinking, "Oh maybe I somehow got the wrong number, as I don't think a DoorDash driver would respond this way", so rather than giving out personal information, I simply said that I was a doordash customer.

Me: "A doordash customer"
Daniel O.: "Uhh ok? U got a name?"

Now I'm thinking, "Wow, what an $#*!. All I wanted to know is if the driver was at the restaurant or not."

Me: "Uhh it's Chris. You got a name, wise $#*!?"
Daniel O.: "Ur the one being a smart $#*! and can't say ur name"
Daniel O.: "Say good by to ur jack in the crack"

Sounds like Danny Boy was having a rough day. And it was my fault, apparently. Or maybe the fact that I asked if he was at the restaurant was insane. That's for sure the last time I order with DoorDash.

When I emailed them and explained what happened during this order, here's what their reply said:

"Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about the terrible experience you got from the dasher. We truly believe on customer love and we know this didn't happend on this delivery."

Which translates to: "We know you got $#*!ty service and we don't give a $#*!"

No apology, no incentive to return as a customer via coupon or comped meal, just a blaring disregard for customer satisfaction and common decency.

Thanks for nothing, DoorDash.

You should definitely order with DoorDash if you hate yourself and like paying for things that don't show up.

Alas, I was initially a fan of DoorDash. After being burned by Postmates, I was happy that DoorDash delivered to my neighborhood. Until they didn't.

For two months, July and Augst 2017, I enjoyed deliveries via DoorDash. Specically, I had five successful deliveries from one restaurant located just over a mile from my apartment. However, I could not check out today because suddenly I was "outside of DoorDash's delivery radius."

I hoped it was a mistake so I called Customer Service. They confirmed it was not a mistake but had no explanation why I suddenly could not get a delivery. I told them alas, I knew **exactly why** because it happens with disturbing regularity when you live above 100th Street in New York City.

Once again, apparently I live too close to Harlem and thus I can't have nice things. It is really tiresome, it's not a coincidence that it keeps happening with delivery services here and it just plain SUCKS.

I'm done with Doordash. They have stood me up for the last time. After waiting 2 hours for my delivery I got a "text" from my "dasher" telling me there was a problem with my delivery and that that Doordash was working to resolve the problem. This is not the first time I have had this problem with Doordash but the service, when it works, is very convenient for me. What is not convenient is not getting my food and instead, delivering me excuses and out and out lies.

If you need your food "for sure"--pick it up or try a different service. Doordash is just not reliable.

I order a meal for delivery and the delivery never occurred and my CC was charged. DD tracking system says my food was picked up and delivered. I contacted my Dasher who said that the delivery app had crashed and he was not able to pickup my food. Also mentioned that he was on hold for 20 minutes attempting to get the Dasher Support team to assist him. I was on hold with their customer service team and after ~30 minutes I hung up. I could never get the Chat to go through as it said that no one was available to assist. I never received a phone call from DD to inform me that my food would not be delivered due to a technical error. I was only left with a tracking system that said everything was delivered and a charge to my CC. This is NOT a way to run a business.

Website is easy to usr and order went smoothly but I couldn't believe the final price.

All I wanted was a $12 entree and was stuck at home.

After minimum purchase requirement is met (or "too small order penalty") AND delivery fee AND service fee (?) AND mandatory 10% minimum tip (on the whole total after the extra fees are added) my total ballooned to $$THIRTY THREE$$ dollars.

$12 --> $33

I cannot fathom how enough people are willing to pay 250% more just for delivery. It is far cheaper to pick up yourself or even order delivery from traditional pizza or Chinese joints.

Who uses this service regularly?

If youve suffered a debilitating injury and are housebound this is at least an option not to starve.

Otherwise WAAAAAYYY too freaking expensive to recommend.

No delivery
September 17, 2016

Food never arrived. I received a text, a call (both to inform me the restaurant was running late), and then a second text that the food was picked up. Website said the food was delivered. Funny, it didn't make it the 0.3 mi to my house. No customer service rep to answer my chat on Friday night. Next day... customer service chat was a joke, just excuses and lies.
