The east Lawrence store near Moulton Ala is off the wall. The floors are always nasty. They never keep enough help. They try to put all the work on just a few people. They are always hiring because people are always quitting. Money problems. It is just a total sham.
I live in Illinois and we travel from central IL to southern IL several times a year (we own 2 properties). At home in central IL. We live a block away from Dollar General in a very small town without much else except a casey's. So it's VERY convenient for us to shop there a lot. Recently they started a digital coupon thing and I love it. However, my phone never gets data inside the store, so I have to choose my coupons either in the car in the parking lot, or at home before I leave, no big deal, but it would be nice if they offered wifi in store. This store has an ok grocery area, but it's not as big as some others. It's a new store. Staff is always away unpacking items, so you have to use a squeaky toy they keep on the counter to get their attention. I've never seen this at any other store. Yet if you ask if they are hiring, they will tell you no. It always seems understaffed to me. Some in the area say they don't hire people so they don't have to share the hours. I don't know... but it can be annoying at times.
Anyway... So the store down in southern IL is several miles away, but that's because our other property is out in the middle of no where. This store is in Shawnee Town and I LOVE this particular store and WISH the one close to our house was just like it. They recently remolded it they have a HUGE freezer section with anything and everything you can imagine It also has several isles of groceries AND FRESH PRODUCE! Which we LOVE because being out in the middle of no where, we know that we can get fresh fruit and veggies in 20min there instead of driving an hour to the nearest walmart or grocery store. The staff is always friendly and always at the counter waiting for you (no squeaky toy haha) Why can't they ALL be like this store? Dollar General really needs to upgrade ALL of their stores to be like the one in Shawnee Town IL. Please!
They have a mixture of really good items and items you have to be careful of. Some stuff is typical 'you get what you pay for' but for the most part, it's all good.
The trick with Dollar Stores is not buying everything in one place. They are not all the same, but every one of them has items that simply aren't worth what they are charging to offset the massive savings on some of the higher-end stuff.
Example: I can get a blanket for $5 - good deal. But, at the same store, a single pair of socks is $1 - so so good. But, they sell more socks and it makes up for the low cost on the blanket.
So, do your homework. Find out what things cost in regular stores, then shop accordingly. AND, if you have access to more than one, you may find that different things are different prices so you can plan your shopping to get the biggest bank for your buck.
BUT - remember, gas costs money, too. Driving 50 miles to save $1 isn't a savings. So shop wisely.
Great prices and sales i can always find what im looking for at a huge discount, whethers its household, toys or food they got it
There are some things I've bought at the Dollar General that have been less than good quality but overall I like their selection of groceries and makeup. I like their organizational items.
Pricing is not always cheaper here. Some stores are very selective about which products on sale in the weekly sales flyer they will honor. I personally do not care for them but wife buys some stuff from them every month.
Not much to say. Felt like I was in a closet. Aisles cramped and over filled. Felt encompassed. Prices were better than a convenience store, but not as good as a full sized supermarket.
Dollar General has gotten better over the recent years. They carry more name brands. I can get basic supplies there for less and I always find something unique. I wish them much success and hope they get even bigger. Give them a try.
I must admit that I like a good bargain... and DollarGeneral not only has a super-wide selection of items, but the price is right as well. There are some things in life that you just don't/won't skimp-on... but there is the him drum stuff you might need and don't really want to pay retail prices for such items. That's where DollarGeneral comes in... you can get everything from a shoelace, a disposable baking pan, to a really great selection of dark chocolates at this store. Need an inexpensive electric strip to hook up some stuff... go to the General. Need some inexpensive food containers to bring your favorites to a party and not worry or even care if you through them out... go to the General! I think you get the idea! There are many "dollar stores" around... and all have their own mix of products that may come and go for many reasons. But DollarGeneral has a very good core stock situation that I can depend on week to week... month to month. It fills the need for me when I'm feeling "cheap"... or I just need a particular "something" but not the Cadillac of the industry! Great store in my opinion for what it is supposed to be!
Good experiance with the swagbucks program, I come to wsagbucks on a daily basis, I do as many surveys as i can and wath the movies regulary,
Always find great deals in any DG I've ever been in! Love how clean and organised "most" of there stores are.
Many of Dollar General's prices are higher than Walmart. They offer discounts on some items but then overprice others to fill in the gap. Why not just go to Walmart then and use coupons on top of the discounted prices?
I dont make much money but at DollarGeneral I can afford a lot of things without paying a hefty sum! Thank you for your honest pricing
Though Dollar General does have some good prices on certain things, they still over charge on quite a few items, such a baby clothes, makeup, food, and other items. But I still love the place nonetheless.
This is my second complaint about the Mantua, Ohio location. I could write for an hour, but I will get to the point. The cussing, swearing, rudeness, complaining about the driver, employees during my shopping trip were unprofessional, disrespectful and should not be tolerated by the other staff or the Consumers that are trying to shop in that store. I had to hear about the employee being " but dialed repeatedly for about 15 minutes. " I believe it was Shannon who then ran out of the office and yelled " I'm going to kick your $#*!!." As I gasped, she corrected herself and said " I mean but! " When I ran to the counter to pay for my items and get the district managers name, she took the opportunity to yell at me as I have complained about this behavior before. She told me that Everytime I come into the store I complain. This is not true. She was raging and put of control as she yelled. Her tone of voice was very high and body language showed She was very upset. I did nothing wrong as I was quietly shopping for cards. I asked the clerk but she said she was new. She was kind and professional. She did not apologize, refused to give me her upper Management and continued to yell at me in front of the two customers behind me, while the new clerk rang up my cards. Peggy and Shannon were both in the store and were both involved in this second complain This happened this morning, September 26 th, 2017. Corporate notified and given ticket number. I requested they interview witnesses. Delinda Reiter ( I believe correct) apologized to me last time and promised that the behavior would never happen again. She will investigate and promised a call back. Please be careful in this store. Be careful in this store as there seems to be some issues the need to resolve. All customers and staff deserve a pleasent experience without swearing, cussing, hearing about complaining, problems, issues and especially not a threat.
I ordered from dollargeneral.com. At first they charged me an extra $2 dollars. I called and they said it was a processing charge to verify my card and that they were going to refund the extra $2 back... WRONG! They never refunded me back! Next thing I know they charged an extra $16! Contacted them again, they gave me the run around and didn't do anything about it. Scam artists! Not to mention delivery takes forever! I will never buy anything on there again!
Answer: Most of it comes down to the iron fisted payroll. Like 40 asm hours for 2 full time employees. How do you give your asm 20 hours and call that ft!
Answer: It may be because your location is running out of business or stock on the water, and I still haven't found out on the coupons myself
Answer: Download the DG app. Sign up with your phone number and add coupons to your account. When you check out in store there is a dg coupon button on the pinpad screen. Click the button and put your phone number in.
