Many customers report frustrating experiences with long wait times, ineffective support, and unresolved technical issues. Complaints frequently highlight unexpected charges, inadequate responses to service cancellations, and difficulties in retrieving returned equipment. Programming at a cost
August 15, 2016

Good programming and service but you definitely pay for it in monthly charges and fees! Then they put $853 on my credit report when I closed my account. They did change it to paid but it's still there so creditors think I had a collection account. The rules to leave them are very tricky!

Most recently I had the worst service experience that I have ever experienced. I was lied to, hung up on, transferred to the wrong department and disrespected all by the same company just many different reps. It seemed they just had it out for me. I was even contacted by a reps who left an message that was I was not able to understand and of course no contact information if I wanted to get back to them. It is like they all said fu to me because they know I have no other option. Dish network does not provide the sports I want and cable does not go to my area. If you want any type of service and sports are not your primary concern I would highly recommend dish over direcet tv

Worst company ever
March 1, 2016

I can not tell you how bad this company is in words. At least not clean words. They used to be good until AT&t bought them. Now you need to run unless you like exercises in futility. Horrible customer service!

Dislike.
February 10, 2016

I am not real happy with their service. I live out in a rural area, so satellite is the only option for cable. They are very high priced for not real good service. And if it is even barely raining, the service goes out. No way would I ever even think of purchasing a pay per view of anything, because the satellite will drop at least once a day for no apparent reason.

I have been a customer over 20 years and my bill is almost 200. Once they merged with ATT it got even worse. Their customer service is okay but when I call to question why my bill is so high and I don't have a premium package all I ever get is well those are for new customers only

DirecTV offered free installation and a very low price with an asterisk beside the dollar amount. When the 12 month lease was over, our bill quadrupled, and DirectTV demanded that I climb onto the roof and remove the satellite, disassemble it and ship it back in the box which was left on my doorstep. I am disabled, and am too large to climb onto the roof. I have since went ahead and cut the cord. I now use roku, netflix, sling, and Home theater PC with plex... also a 50 mile over the air antenna from Amazon which was a one-time purchase, and gives me 11 premium channels. Also, I buy new releases with Ultra Violet, so that I may stream them whenever I want.

Raised prices after 1st year but you're stuck, cuz you signed a contract. Needless to say, I disconnected and sent back their overpriced receiver. Don't pay their illegal termination fees. Who wants the same TV provider for two years these days? Not me! Hopefully companies like these will go the way of the dinosaur.

The equipment is rather well made and you won't need tech support too much. They stick to their advertised price and have hidden charges.

I was the first DirecTV subscriber in San Diego. I had the antenna on top of a beach front home where it could be seen by thousands, many of whom asked what it was. I paid thousands of dollars for the equipment and installation and had no complaints as it was a huge technical improvement.
All the tech magazines rated TIVO as the best tech idea in years and TIVO was installed later on DirecTB boxes.

As soon as Murdoch purchased DirecTV he ended the relationship with TIVO but the salespeople falsely represented the opposite. Even though you bought the box it remained the property of DirecTV.

People were so outraged by this change that used HD DircTV with TIVO installed were selling for $2000. DirecTV had to maintain the TIVO service to legacy subscribers but no longer included it in the new DirecTV boxes.

If you are like half of all Americans and came from some other country or used to live in some foreign country or do business abroad and would like to get TV from their to keep up with news and your language skills, you are out of luck. DirecTV does not supply foreign TV. You have to go to DishTV for foreign programming.

DirecTV focuses on expensive sports packages and sports specials which are less expensive and of greater quality in the FOX/Murdoch TV in the UK.

I really liked DirecTV in the start. Cable co. Were no competition. I'm not so sure since they were bought out. I see a change in everything, not sure yet if it is good or bad. Also I have gone from 65.00 a month for everything to 195.00 a month, ofcourse due to what I've added on but still... think maybe it is cheaper with cable?

SINCE AT&T TOOK OVER, WHAT WAS BARELY BEARABLE IS NO LONGER ABLE TO TAKE. PRICES HAVE NOT GONE UP anymore surprising but everything else has gone down. Switched to DirecTV NOW and although still in the starting stages, it is much more of a value.

Serious Bait & Switch
November 18, 2015

Dish's primary marketing now is "no hidden charges!" to address DirecTV's notorious deluge of hidden charges. They advertise $19.99/month, but in order to get that rate, you'll have to pay an additional $30/month in hidden upgrade charges -- they charge for HD, they charge for DVR service, they charge for additional boxes, etc. It's too bad it's so mismanaged because the service and apps are great, but the company is so shady and sales driven that Dish could easily pull ahead.

Sooo we've (myself and my honey) have been a DirecTv customer since January 2015. The price of the promotion of the package we ordered it was $39.99 /month it included free installation for up to 6rooms all premium movie channels for 3 months and an inclusive sports package. And I'm not an idiot I knew there would taxes and blah blah blah BUT when I confirmed the order and paid for the 1st month the woman told me with taxes and fees included my monthy bill would be $68.47/month. SWEET! I got my first bill and we owed $72.63. OK alright its only a few dollars let it slide. Every month along with our bill we will also get a newsletter and every month there's a memo that always says check your bill for new charges. And every month there is in fact a new charge. So NOW my monthly bill is between $83-89 depending on what fee/charge they feel like tacking on for that month. That's a $20-25 difference from what was "agreed" on. It doesn't sound like a lot but its a nuisance. And for what? Our package has 250 channels and we only watch 45-50. We had to get the package we did bc the channels we "had to have" (their words) were (of course) in the more expensive package. The HD is charged AND we get charged for the Local channels... charging for local?! We would bow out gracefully and switch to Dish but we're in a 2 year agreement and will be charged $40 a month for canceling. I'm not looking forward to what my bill will jump to in January when we start out 2nd year...

We have had service with DirecTV for many years.(at least ten years) We got it as part of a bundle deal with A T & T. DIRECTV service has been great as opposed to any other service you can have. I have had cable tv service before, and a friend of mine had service with Dish TV. She was always complaining about it too. I consider myself fortunate to have a good service.
Thanks DirecTV!
Sincerely,
A satisfied customer

I have no experience with the DirecTV service that is now owned by ATT.

I really liked DirecTV. I found that the amount of channels and quality of service was on par with the local cable companies. I haven't really experienced to many outages because of stormy weather. I found that when the weather is stormy, the cable companies have outages as well. I have very few complaints, but the major complaint i do have is the customer service. I cannot understand the majority of the indian call center reps. I know it is more expensive, but is it really worth it to save a little bit of money even though the call center employees are so hard to understand? I would rather pay a few dollars more and be able to understand and easily communicate with the person i am speaking with.

Directv sent me another bill. Threating me, If I don't pay the cancelation fee... They will steal it from what ever card they have on file... That's terrble. They told me I have or had 90 days to pay it. I will read the fine print before I order anything ever again... Lesson learned...

False advertising
July 27, 2015

Directv in their ads say that you get free HD and no additional equipment to buy yet they are charging me $10 extra a month for their HD receiver. I'm sick of this company.
