I had purchased a new rack & pinion plus a pair of wheel bearings. The rack is already leaking and every time I hit a bump, on the drivers side, my traction control, ABS and variable steering control goes out. The bearings seem to be holding up, but the speed sensors are absolute junk. These components are only about 8 months old. I will never purchase from Detroit Axle, again.
I would give no stars if possible. Totally Un-ethical behavior and experience with the company representative. As a consumer, I would never expect any company representative to behave.
Recently, I placed order for the parts of my vehicle 2013 Hyundai Elantra Coupe. I received incompatible brake pads clips which doesn't fit. Hence, I called customer service and asked for compatible brake pads clips or refund of my order. I had to pay $130 to the mechanic to change parts and that that too incompatible parts. Customer service agent took all the information about the order and verified including Vehicle VIN number, and later offer to send same parts again or $40 refund. I paid around $270 for the part and $130 for installation (still car is not recommended to drive as there are no clips for pads). As a consumer, I am paying outside some money for the wrong/poor engineered design parts and later asked to give same shot again with same parts another time paying to mechanic didn't make any sense to me. I asked for proof to either parts will work or labor charges for the mechanic but sense like agent wants me to talk to his supervisor and transfer call for higher authority on decision making. The Supervisor was very rude and did not want to accept the fault with the parts (pad clips). Instead, he replied that website doesn't have any information of such vehicle and put pretended it as "I placed the wrong order". As a supervisor in the company, have no sense how to talk to consumers.
I would suggest go and buy local parts from store, this people will make you suffer as I suffer.
Ordered from eBay with some trepidation after reading some of the reviews. I experienced TOP NOTCH communication, speedy delivery, and parts that are of higher quality than what was already on the used car I purchased. I would not be afraid to work with Detroit Axle for any future purchases. I am beyond pleased!
No stars!
I ordered a rack and pinion from Detroit Axle and they charged my card and sent me a tracking number. The tracking number claimed the part hadn't made it to the facility yet. When I called nearly a week later to find out what was happening I was told they didn't have the part and it was on backorder about a month out. (Who charges for a part they don't have?). I asked for a refund and was told it would be 24-48 hours. Six days later I called again and was told it would take 24-48 hours (oh and they asked me if I still wanted the part! I thought I asked for a refund last week?). I told them I wanted a refund by the end of business that day. I was assured I would recieve a phone call by the end of the day (I did not). I have filed a dispute with Paypal to get my money back.
I have since purchased the same part from another company and had it installed.
This company appears to be thieves! I will never order so much as a spark plug from them.
I have been in the car business my whole life and I have never done business with such an incompetent company. I returned parts and for six months they keep telling me that they sent the checks and nothing ever comes. They keep giving me the runaround from the customer service to management. I will never do business with them again.
From brakes disc and suspension parts for my Mazda 5 to brakes for my BMW and a wheel bearing for my Flex. I have made several repeat purchases. The best purchases have been the half shafts that are 1/3 cheaper than NAPA and have a 10 year warranty. The Mazda 5 kept warping disc from Napa. I upgraded to the drilled and slotted for less money and put an end to the warping problem from the OEM. I suggest read your descriptions closely because sometimes small misc parts may not be included. IE. Anti rattle clips for brake shoes. So far with about 10 purchase made, not a single issue.
Excellent parts! Cheap and Good quality. Can beat them was struggling for parts for my Corolla and got a real deal suspension kit and Brakes kit
I ordered a rack & pinion unit which was defective, received another one which was also defective. The time that spent changing out both parts was considerable. Doubt that I will ever purchase from this company ever again.
Got a number of parts from Detroit Axle I wanted parts made in the US and the price was good. The parts seem good but they cheap out on the small things such as No nut and cotter pin for a CV joint no cotter pin or grease fitting on tie rod end also I didn't know the tie rod ends was grease-able be I order, a CV joint I order was missing a big part of it, it was useless to me. If you have a return they don't want to talk to you. I think they are a front company for china.
This business is a joke, it appears that they are under new administration because the Guy I talked to keep saying the he was new and the guy who created/shipped the order did not worked there no more. The case in point is that I ordered a transmission for my 06 explorer from eBay. They sent me and email requesting my VIN number to verify the vehicle, but I get the wrong transmission. So what is the point of asking for the VIN#. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
They refuse to refund me and I confirmed with UPS they had received both of my returned packages and signed for them. They still owe me 200$ and it's been a month now.
How am I missing 2 lower ball joints and 1 of my new wheel bearings is bad how long will it take me to get my money back?
Save your money, run from these people. No stars would have been better.
In spite of the terrible reviews, negative feedback these people get and contrary to the warnings on all of the automotive forums I took a risk and ordered a rack and pinion system - big mistake. The system was badly packed and never worked properly, but that is not the real issue.
Although they have promised to refund my core charge many times over the past 10 months (I started requesting it right away after they received my old core) they have delayed sending anything to the point where they are currently saying that it is now too late to send me the core charge. I have many emails from the past 10 months saying that they would refund the money to my online account, then they were going to send me a check -- all a big stalling tactic -- "now it is too late to get a refund".
You might get very lucky but then again...
Inferior product and a dishonest company, don't be another sucker, do your homework.
1st order was apparently my fault I send hubs back they say when there in route they will send the others well that don't happen 11/2 weeks go by till I get for the second time wrong parts. And they could care less their fault they want me to wait another week 1/2 for them to get these before shipping me the right ones it's bull suggestion from me ( don't do it call any other company don't do it 1 month later wheel still falling off)
Terrible, terrible service and responsibility. The saga begins in April 2018...
In one day, I order an axle, I pay for the axle, I get a shipping notice. Two weeks later, no axle. A good dozen hours on hold and many emails that are never responded to later, and lo, I learn someone got tape on the label and UPS couldn't scan it in. Instead of fixing this, they shelved it and left it unshipped. Finally, yet another week later, I receive the axle.
The axle is faulty.
Detroit Axle's solution - I must pay for a new one and pay shipping to return the faulty one. Except, weeks later, the new axle was never shipped despite taking my money, because they in fact never had the part. And the returned part - received and no refund made.
Another dozen hours on hold - during which time I spoke to four different people - and I am given a partial refund on the part that never shipped.
Another almost 20 hours on hold and more unanswered emails, about five weeks of after paying for the part that never shipped, I have finally been promised a refund all but about $30 odd dollars. I stress the promised. It hasn't been received yet.
In total, over 40 hours on hold and many emails to customer service ignored over the course of around four months just to end up with no axle and out money and time.
I recently decided at the recommendation of my mechanic to replace the entire front end suspension of my 99 Accord, since it has more than 300k miles on it and it was all original parts. My mechanic tipped me off to Detroit Axle as having the best prices for these kinds of parts around, about HALF THE COST of what you'd buy at an O'Reillys or Napa. I'm not a mechanic but I do shop with a real detailed eye, so as I was browsing the various front end kits I emailed a lot of questions to them asking about the differences between the kits, whether it included this or that, etc. They were very patient with all of my questions and answered them promptly. Their shipping is free, a big deal when you're getting a heavy set of metal parts. Arrived on time, without packing errors, and they are working well on my car. If I need any more parts to replace my original equipment, I will absolutely come back to Detroit Axle.
Answer: A pain in the butt I sat waiting for tech support for hours with no answer.
Answer: Detroit Axle wasn't the low ball company but after doing business with them we got low balled.
Answer: For us it has been a scam and we will never order from them again and request you do not. But the choice is up to you.
