At least it's better than dealfind as you can actually speak to someone on the phone, but their interest is in making money and not making sure the customers are happy. Buyer beware on these types of deals. Not sure I'll be using these deal websites ever again.
I purchased 2 painting vouchers awhile back. Painters didn't show up. I contacted Dealathon who said they would send me a credit. Great - I have a credit memo. Doesn't do me much good unless they actually put the money back in my paypal account. That was 10 business days ago.
I guess the next step is to notify paypal that I've been ripped off.
I purchased 2 vouchers for Cerritos Surf Colony and we were looking forward to our Mexican vacation. Unfortunately, we were contacted by the resort and they said they could not honour the vouchers because Dealathon was not paying them. I have attempted to contact Dealathon by phone, e-mail, etc for months. Calls are not returned. I did get an e-mail response once that indicated a refund would be provided. That was about 6 weeks ago and no refund has been made.
Bought a voucher for a car wash from Dealathons. After many attempts to book, it turned out the company offering the car washes didn't really exist. I know this because I did a drive-by one day to ask for a booking in person and it was a deserted industrial unit. Asked Dealathons for a refund. Around 2 months later they finally pay up, into a Paypal account, so I consequently get charged a fee by Paypal. Not sure how stupid they think their customers are. They were hard to get to speak to, didn't return a single message and when I did get hold of somebody, they lied about the company being in business (repeatedly) and they lied about the refund being sent when it was originally supposed to have been. They even sent me a confirmation email for the refund, then conveniently 'forgot' to process it!
Being very generous and ignoring the fact that Dealathons did not check out the company properly in the first place, their customer service is appauling. Give them a wide berth, there are better deal sites out there.
Also, i want my $1.14 Paypal fee back please David M.

I had purchased a voucher to use through Dealathons.com. I have attempted to contact the merchant for over 2 weeks to schedule an appointment; however, she never returns the phone call or tells you to call back but doesn't pick up. She's suppose to be running a professional service. In disappointment, I emailed Dealathons.com requesting for a refund as the merchant is not providing services as agreed. They have ignored all three of my emails, not even an acknowledgement to say anything, just ignored. If this company is suppose to be for a charitable good deed, they certainly don't act like it by the way they run their business. It makes me appreciate other sites who value their customer's time and business more. I do not recommend this site. Do yourself a favor and do not use them.
SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM! DEALATHON.COM is 200% SCAM. THey do not donate to Sick Kids Hospital. I contacted Sick Kids Hospital and they told me they have received many calls in the past months (victims of Dealathon) about the same thing. They said they havent received a PENNY from dealathon EVER. I have recently purchased a few vouchers and contacted them about ther 14 day refund policy and I didnt get anything yet. The CEO, David M. Hung up on me and was talking over me and was extremely disrespectful. YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK whether in 14 days or out of 14 days policy. YOU WILL NOT GET ANY MONEY BACK PERIOD... They also deal with business that are scammers, I have dealt with Teambuy, groupon, Dealticker, Buytopia, Swarmjam and they ARE ALL AMAZING... PASS ON THE WORD PLESE AND LETS SHUT THIS SCAM FOR GOOD.
Beyond Terrible!
I recently bought 2 vouchers for body wrap and massage in August. I called the business at least 6 times until someone picked up only to tell me they are fully booked for months and only one employee is working and therefore my friend and I cannot come in and have the services done together.
So i emailed Dealathons and asked if I can just receive "CREDITS" because I am not getting the services I was initially hoping for. I get a crummy answer from the rep (who doesn't even leave his or her name) telling me their "14 day refund policy" over and over again and pretty much saying I'm stuck with the vouchers.
So today I phoned the Spa 6 times again, no one picked up. I email dealathons again. Dont know what they're going to say but I NEVER want to use their services again. They don't provide any detailed information about the business they are promoting and when there is a problem, Dealathon reps just tell their customers nothing can be done because no specific details were listed on the deal. SCAM.
I've had way better experiences on other similar sites, don't ever use dealathons, period.
DO NOT BUY! This site is a scam!
We bought a voucher for a hotel in Radium Hot Springs back in May. We made our reservations in June for the hotel, drove to Radium from Calgary and upon arrival was told the hotel was overbooked and there was nothing they could do (don't get me started on this).
We then contacted dealathon to get our refund. It's currently mid-October and we still DO NOT HAVE IT?
May 16 - Bought voucher
Mid June - Requested refund. Was told it would take 6 weeks to get a cheque via mail.
End of August - No cheque yet. Called back and they said it would be refunded through paypal this time within a week.
End of Sept - Still no refund, called back (long story short) and they said it would be done "immediately"
Today (mid Oct) - Still no refund, called again to hear the same story.
Bottom line is, if I do get back my money i would be very surprised. This website is obviously not very complaint with customer satisfaction and I would not recommend anyone ever use this. It is complete bull$#*!.
Their website says you can get a refund within 14 days of purchase - WHAT A JOKE. I bought a voucher and requested a refund the next day when I found something cheaper, they said they would issue a refund, it's been a month now and still nothing. No reply when I follow up with them either. THIS WEBSITE IS A SCAM.
I wouldn't even give this site "1 star". I strongly advise everyone to stay away from this site. Regrettably, I subscribed. I receive at least 2 e mails a day. I have tried unsuccessfully to "unsubscribe" at least 10 times but continue to receive e mails.
I contacted them by e mail but received no reply. I called the help line, and an extremely rude man answered, who I suspect is the CEO. Once he hung up on me, and another time put me on hold.
I am flabbergasted by the lack of professionalism and the rudeness.
Stay far far away from this place. The customer service with this company is horrible and that's putting it nicely. I have never been treated so horrible like I have by Dealathons.
I purchased a coupon to use at a local business to use from this dealathons website. Something went wrong with the merchant and I was let down by their service. When I called I was expecting the person to at least listen to my concerns at dealathons, but instead of listening to my concern the rep only insulted me for redeeming the voucher in the first place. I was told by "David M." that it was too bad that I didn't have a good experience with the company I bought the voucher for. The website for dealathons refund policy states: "At Dealathons we strive to offer the best experience for our subscribers. We also understand that life happens, so we offer a 14 day refund policy on all of our deals, but remember that most of our deals don't expire so just hold on to it until you are ready to use it. "Dealathons stands behind every business featured on our site. Our mission is to offer our subscribers the best their city has to offer. We expect our subscribers to be treated well and to have a positive experience. If for whatever reason you feel you did not receive the services offered by the voucher you purchased or you were treated unfairly, please contact Dealathons at *******552 or email us at *******@dealathons.com and we will do our best to resolve the matter."
The person even repeated the same refund policy on the site as we spoke. Everything I asked he countered as if I was personally attacking him. He said that he could not refund me as it would take away from Dealathons profits. They say they stand behind the businesses they promote but that is not true at all. This David M person said he was "the one and only working there". Turns out this David M is listed as the CEO as well for this company which truly now shows how the company is run. I will not be purchasing anything from this site again nor recommend it to anyone ever!
Bought a massage coupon in February.
Then the company gave us the run around saying the information that was on dealathons.com was incorrect and transferred us to a crummy personal masseuse. We tried to make appointment with her and she declined to accept dealtion's coupon.
Got in touch with dealathons. Got points refunded to my account last july.
Then in july i bought a coupon for dinner for rajdoot in calgary. It says they shipped it on july 20th and i am still waiting for the coupon to arrive in mail. Should not take two month to come from BC to calgary using Canada post.
David I know you are reading it. Thats why i gave you good rating. Please see if you can send me my coupon. If not i would like my money refunded please.
Can you say beyond frusterated... I had bought 5 different vouchers for a resturant that had no expiry date however the place has since closed. I called May 15th for a refund and was assured that they would mail a refund to my home address as no credit card information was stored. Nothing came, phoned again on August 15th and spoke to the same person who said that they would re-issue the cheque for me and that someone from from accounting would call me the next day to confirm a tracking number. There was no call so I called back and spoke to the same girl who assured me that the cheque had been put in the mail that morning, August 17. I asked for a managers name and extension to follow up. To date I still haven't received a refund, so i just phoned back for the third time and spoke to Anton, who assured me that it would be in the mail in the morning. I requested again for a tracking number and was told that he was unable to provide it until the morning. So lets see what happens tomorrow.
After reading the reviews on this site and the experience I had with Dealathons, I have an awful feeling the site is a SCAM...
I ordered flipflips in early June from them. I have since emailed (no response) and left a message (not easilly done since many of their answering machines are full) and I have yet to get through to a live person or hear back from them.
AVOID BUYING FROM THIS SITE.
I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau if I do not hear back from Dealathon in the next week. I also plan to warn Sick Kids Hospital about this company using their name as a way of marketting their website as giving to charities. I would love to know if they've gotten anything from Dealathon.
If it was up to me, I would never use this site again but unfortunately they refuse to give refunds for bad service and have kept about $300 dollars of my money and have given me "credits" instead so I must deal with them in the future. I had bought laser hair removal vouchers for a spa that gave me horrible service and NEVER called me back after many calls and refused to let me go to other locations instead. Frustrated I knew it would be impossible to get my sessions done with the spa in any kind of reasonable time frame so I tried to contact Dealathons. I sent a very lengthy email detailing every issue so they could understand where I was coming from. After a week with no response I sent a second email. No response again. After calling several times with no answer I finally left a voicemail with all my information and guess what? NO RESPONSE. Once I finally reached someone by phone I told them how unhappy I was with the service I received and told him to please read my email (which I put alot of thought and effort into) so he could see what happened. He told me "Oh I don't have access to your email right now so just tell me" so I had to go through the story all over again. He told me he would give me a refund in credits for the site and a little extra for the trouble. Considering how much money I had spent on the vouchers I was NOT happy with this. I asked why Dealathons didn't just give me my money back and then go straight to the Spa company to get the money back from them as they are the ones with the terrible service. Why are customers the ones that have to pay for the bad service of a company that Dealathons promotes? The customer rep said "If we gave a refund to every customer that complained we'd be out of business" He told me that he would report to his manager that I had never received a reply from their customer service after attempting to contact them several times and that someone would give me a call back to discuss and would "probably give me some extra credits for my trouble" Big Surprise, I have never heard a single peep back from the Dealathons since that call. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS COMPANY. Their customer service is terrible and the companies they promote on their site are garbage.
Terrible customer service communication. Let me elaborate.
I purchased a pair of flip flops on their website and paid through paypal. Received an e-mail indicating that Dealathons would e-mail the coupon once the deal expires. The deal was supposed to expire in 2 days. For some reason, the deal kept resetting when it expired so it seemed like the deal never ends. So on my dealathons account, the status remained at "processing" for over a month. Within that month, I called customer service 3 times and every time and they indicated that the flip flops would be shipped either at the end of the day or week, but alas, it never was shipped.
I complained to paypal and asked for a full refund and not a credit to my account. One day later, I checked my dealathons account and noticed a "refund invoice" that supposedly credited back to my method of payment. Over the next 2 weeks, I checked my credit card and paypal account and didn't see a credit to my account. No credit to my dealathons account either. I called Dealathons and they indicated that they see the refund invoice but will make a request again for a refund. Again, nothing for a week, so I escalated this to a claim with Paypal through Paypal's dispute section. Paypal sent Dealathons an email to resolve it by a certain date and there was absolutely no response from Dealathons. Paypal ultimately sided with me and now, 2 months down the road, I got my refund through Paypal, not dealathons.
Worst experience ever. I would not recommend them to anyone.
Worst site ever. No customer service. I bought a voucher to use at a spa and when the spa said I was ineligable for the service (because I had a tattoo), Dealathons refused to refund my money and instead gave me a credit.
Manager - Anton - compared it to me buying mik and then finding out I was lactose intollerant - not their fault.
Then said, it didn't matter to them if I was unhappy. "We've had lots of people write bad things about us and it doesn't affect us." Yep! That's what they said. Nice!
Buyer beware. My friend has been chasing this company for a few months trying to get paid for a deal they did with dealathons. Constant emailing to the CEO - David, and leaving messages with the receptionist. No phone calls ever returned. Always an excuse, and the answer is the cheque is being couriered.
Except the Cheque never arrives...
Makes me wonder whether the donation to the children's hospital actually gets paid out, when they can't even pay their partners in a timely manner. Definitely, not a good business practice, hurts the small company's with big hearts!
Many of these small businesses turn to companies like these to increase their business and traffic flow through their stores, but when they don't get paid, it puts them in jeopardy as they offer such great deals at a loss on the companies end.
Suggestion If you want to donate money to children's hospital, do it direct, then at least you know it will get there! As all charities will acknowledge your donation with a letter.
Support small businesses, but go into the store, chances are they have great deals with out having to pre-buy a coupon to get it.
WARNING! I recently purchased various vouchers through dealathons and not only the telephone listed on their website doesn't pick up, but after the store I bought the vouchers for went out of business dealathon is refusing to provide me a refund. They not only do not follow their own customer service policy for refunds on their website but refuse to provide a refund. Extremely disappointed that there are companies like Dealathon that steal our money. Do not purchase ANYTHING with them. Wagjag and Groupon have already refunded all their clients but Dealathon will not.
I bought a deal for Divino restaurant, I haven't really seen a lot of restaurants up on deal sites lately. Divino was excellent, and it looks like Dealathons is running a different restaurant every week, and they're all some of the best in Toronto. I'm excited that one deal site got it right, and I'm looking forward to more great eats for cheap!
Answer: I just made a purchase on this website a week ago and I wish I had read these reviews prior to this purchase. I have tried to contact customer service through email/phone, but no reply. I am not willing to put up with this nonsense as I do not have the time for this. If I do not hear back or do not receive my purchase, I will take my case to court.
