My Cannon screen broke while I was on vacation. When I took it to be repaired camera shops told me it was cheaper and easier to buy a new one. I didn't want a new camera, I like mine. I found Darn Toothy Sam on line, sent the camera and got it back repaired, MUCH cheaper than a new one--all as promised.

My wife dropped her canon and cracked the view screem. Darntoothy replaced it at a good price and the camera was returned to us in a timely manner. I would use him again.

I had a great experience with them. I purchased a replacement LCD screen for a Canon G9. It came brand new, quickly, and has been working perfectly for almost a year know. I had a very positive experience talking with Thomas on the phone, he gave me great advice, and was very honest and helpful. Plus, this is one of the only companies I could find that offers many of these parts and very reasonable repair prices. I wouldn't put much stock in some of the other very dramatic complaints. Thomas is up front that some parts can take longer than expected to come in, and so repairs may be delayed, but he is a small shop, and you won't find a similar repair job for the price. I will definitely continue to do business with him, and would recommend him to friends.

I sent in my daughters Sony DSC-T77 camera to have the LCD replaced. I have to say that the order took a little longer to repair than I would have liked but I'm an impatient person and my daughter really wanted her camera fixed to take on a trip. After I confirmed that the camera was received I waited a week and tried calling. Upon hearing his message that he is the only one in the shop to take calls, I waited. A week later I received an email from Thomas updating me that the camera was fixed and would be shipped the next day. I paid for expedited return shipping and my daughter got her camera in time. All is good. In fact, she likes the view from the LCD even better than when we sent it to Sony for the same type of repair under her warranty a year ago. I would recommend this place for anyone.

After seeing some of the other comments that "customers" have left, I don't think that most of them could be talking about the same company. I did a little research into my camera's fault (Canon G9 power failure). I found darntoothysam.com to be the best price and have great reviews (on the other sites I checked out). I received email updates from them as far as receiving my camera, repair updates (very fast repairs), and return shipping info. The only issue came about when my camera was "returned to sender" due to not having a customs form attached. As a military member serving overseas, darntoothysam.com is not the first (nor will they be the last) to forget this paperwork when returning packages to APO/FPO addresses. When this was pointed out to them, they immediately added the correct forms and mailed out my camera. It traveled from Minnesota to Naples, Italy in only 5 days! Great job guys!

Sorry for the delay with shipping back your Canon G9 we repaired for you, I should have remembered it would need customs paperwork!

Yet one more camera that we repaired and shipped back, exactly as we have done thousands of times in the past 5 years! We have never stolen anything from anyone contrary to what so many of these FAKE people say on here about us.

I have done multiple transactions with darntoothysam and everything has been smooth for me. I have ordered some parts and had work done on a few cameras. I always pay through paypal and my stuff gets sent to me within the 7-10 days they promised me. I had work on a shutter button and it was repaired within a week. It seems a few people had a bad experience and are attacking this sites owner, which seems a little childish to me, but i guess act however you want on the internet. Overall experience on my end at least had no issues and will do business with again (hopefully won't have to because i don't like my cameras breaking haha)

Camera repair work requires extreme patience and a delicate hand and darntoothysam.com does great work and you can't beat their prices. Dealt with Thomas concerning a problem with my camera. He is a very nice guy and he obviously works hard and is good at what he does. A+

Customers griping need to understand that small businesses are ran by real people who are passionate about what they do and should be treated with decency. Repairs take time and patient... so as customers you need to be patient with the repair. A rushed job is a bad job. Be kind and you'll be surprised at how nice people are.

Thomas, my son is nine and he dropped his mothers camera on the tile floor and you promised to fixed it. Remember you said no problem. Well my son saved his money from his birthday and we together sent it to you. I was trying to teach him a lesson of being responsible (hmmm). NOTHING CAME BACK, NOT EVEN MY NINE YEAR OLDS MONEY!

You say you are setting up an email address to deal with all of the complaints. Why the need, why don't you just respond to your emails already and answer your phone? YOU GOT CAUGHT and now you are trying to fix it while you continue to scam more and more victims as we'll call them.

What you should do is this. Temporarily take down your site and put a note that you are fulfilling the existing orders but you can't handle new orders at this time. When you get caught up, then you open your store again and you tell people the truth of how long it will take and don't steal. Give them the service they pay for, it's that simple.

If you don't do this, then you are without a doubt a real scam operation in my mind and I'm sure everybody elses, no doubt at all. In fact, if you don't do that which is what's right, I will then expose you everywhere on the net and have as many people report you who you have stolen from. You can not keep your business open and take peoples money for a service that you can not complete. I don't know if you have a family but this will end with you going to prison as someone has already pointed out.

So do what's right, if you sold these peoples cameras and my wifes camera included, then replace it or pay us back the value. In the meantime, do the right thing and close your site with a message of what you are doing to catch up. If not, I will assume you are a scam and nothing more, right now I am trying to give you the benefit of the doubt although it's hard to even do that with everyone who was defrauded by you. I'm torn between whether you are a scam or not but this will say for sure. Also, post your friend who you said has cancer so people can verify that is true or a lie. That really doesn't sound too believable, you must admit. This was my wifes camera and the money that my son paid to have it fixed. I don't even care about the camera or the money anymore, the camera was already replaced for her since you've had it now 5 months (or you sold it as many suggest you do).

Do the right thing, if not I will start gathering the victims from the web and have them get law enforcment involved from every which way. You know what you are doing is wrong, time to do what is right.

I read all the other reviews only after making the purchase of an LCD screen for a Cannon camera. So I called the company on both of their phones (No answer after repeated calls) I thought I was in trouble so then I e-mailed them and I received a response quite fast. Received all the information I needed but was still nervous because of the negative reviews.
So here is my review :) I ordered the LCD on February the 4th and received it on February 15th it was the correct part made by Sony for the Cannon camera. It fit perfectly took me thirty minutes for the whole installation and it worked flawless.
Conclusion these people are very busy and apparently don't have time for phone conversations as they are taking care of the orders to ship.
I received e-mails with all the updates and flawless service and good price so I will rate them with 41/2 stars they would have gotten 5 stars if I could reach them by phone but that might increase the cost of the parts as they would have to have another employee answering the phone.
I'm sorry for those people who had trouble but for me it was flawless service and quality part.
Thank you Thomas and Alex!

I needed a replacement shutter button for my Sony Cybershot camera and I knew if I sent it back to Sony, it would cost half as much as the camera, so I looked on line and found this website. They gave me a choice of buying the part for a very low price with instructions included for doing it myself, and another with the part and complete installation package done by them for a very reasonably low price. I opted for the latter to make sure that it was done right. They not only guaranteed their work, but gave a lifetime warranty on the piece because they replaced it with a material that would never break. I had read where many people had replaced this part more than once! Darntoothysam.com techs were quick to respond when I emailed them and the turn around time from my house to them and back was amazing! I will definitely use them again should I encounter any other problems!

Don't Buy Here!
February 7, 2011

Don't Buy Here! AVOID THIS BUSINESS! Darn Toothy Sam (www.darntoothysam.com) - Better Business Bureau ACCREDITATION REVOKED on Nov 19,2010. According to BBB website, thirty complaints have been filed against the company.

I was looking the BBB up to file my complaint, when I noticed they had already taken action. My Canon Digital Rebel was shipped to them Nov 4th, 2010, and as of today, Feb 7th, 2011, it is not repaired, and no emails are responded to, no phone calls returned.

This is the one repair where we have had major problems, and I have taken steps to correct this problem. I had to farm out the soldering to a friend as it is too fine for us to do here, and he has caused me major problems with not doing the repairs for me for weeks or months at a time.

I now have another way to complete the repair and this won't be an issue in the future.

Your camera is being fixed and he said he is sending it back to me within the next day or two. As soon as I have your camera here I will ship it back to you.

I have never stolen anything from anyone, nor would I.

This man is not only untruthful in his claims on his website of camera repair but his practise of accepting cameras and then not returning them needs investigating by the police. I sent my camera to him Oct 4th 2010. I have never seen it since. I did speak to him in November though. He told me me he had it sent to be fixed by someone, somewhere in Texas. I was told I would get it last week of November directly from Texas. Now December 27th no camera still but I filed complaint through BBB. Next time I will pay more to send to Canon. This has been the best lesson for sending to Canon instead of darntoothysam. Who is poor excuse for a repair service.

While I also had issues with the ten weeks it took to get my camera back, I understand this is a small business and I WAS shopping for price. They fixed my Sony camera shutter button and it works great, I would use them again, but this time I would not be expecting my camera back in a week!

Thanks Lou. We are actually able to do most Sony shutter button repairs within only 2-3 days of receiving the camera now! Remember our lifetime guarantee, any problems for the life of the camera just let us know.

DARNTOOTHYSAM.COM HAS BEEN ROTTEN FOR SERVICE!

No camera and no money - what more to explain.

I can see I'm not the only one.

He just gives excuses that it's waiting for parts but they never get there.

PLEASE JUST RETURN MY MONEY AND MY CAMERA NOW - ENOUGH OF YOUR EXCUSES

Yes, there can be delays with our repairs, and if I have talked with you as it seems I have, I have apologized to you for it.

I don't know who you are or what your camera is, so I don't know what the status of your repair is. The reason there can be delays is that we don't charge $175 for a $75 repair. People say "Oh I'd rather just pay $175 instead", but that's not true, you wouldn't have if we charged that much.

I have never stolen anything from anyone, and I don't make excuses about parts; I explain to the customer the status of their repair when they ask what it is. If I knew who you were I could tell you what your status is as well.

I have already explained all of the following to you via email:

Your LCD was on backorder, sorry. We did the repair as soon as we got in stock.

Your camera is a Sony DSLR-A350, and the LCD screen is under a protective plastic window. This window IS NOT part of the LCD screen and IS NOT replaced when we replace your LCD. Your LCD is 100% brand new and perfect. Your window has scuffs on it from YOUR USE of the camera, the LCD is not used.

I answer all phonecalls myself, we are a small shop and I cannot afford to pay for an overseas call center. Also, I have a person that answers emails every day. I am working with him to get a smoother system put into place for dealing with emails to which he doesn't know the answer.

Darntoothysam was an excellant experience. I dropped my camera and broke the LCD screen. Sent it in to darntoothysam and they repaired it and got it working again for a bargain! They even replaced the missing screws I had in my case! Would HIGHLY recommend!

Jason, glad you were happy with our service. I don't know what camera you had but could have been a Canon G9, the screws always fall out and if we see it we replace them at no charge even though they cost me almost $2 each to buy!

My experience was similar to several of those above. Told (by- e-mail) it would take a day or two to service my camera. Once they had my camera and my pre-paid order, I could not get them to respond to me at all. I e-mailed, and they ignored it. (Funny, when they were trying to get my business they e-mailed back right away.) I called the local number and the recording says they are too busy to return phone calls, so send an e-mail. (I left a message anyway and sent more e-mails, still no response.) I called the toll free number and the voice message from the owner says he responds personally to all messages. (I left another message. He did not respond.) Finally, I contacted the Better Business Bureau and the company responded to them. Two months after I sent my camera in for the one or two day repair, I got it back. And it wasn't fixed. More e-mails that were ignored. I had to involve the Better Business Bureau a second time to try to get an explanation for why it wasn't fixed and to get a refund of my money. Their response was not to offer any explanation, justification or apology for their dreadful customer service or failure to fix my camera. Instead, they refunded my money, "suggested" I was lying about their failure to fix the camera and wondered why I didn't just drive to their facility when they ignored my repeated communications? As if that is an acceptable response for any business, much less a web-based business looking for customers nationally to send them their property.

So, my advice would be to avoid these people like the plague unless you like to be lied to, ignored and have your time wasted. If you decide to ignore my advice, please save this website address (www.minnesota.bbb.org). It's the local Better Business Bureau. You'll probably need their help to get these folks to respond to you once they have your camera and your money.

I apologized to you that your camera had been set aside and forgotten. As soon as I was reminded of it we did the CCD cleaning that day and mailed the camera back to you the next day.

You live 10 miles from our location, if you had been dealing with ANY other business, would you have not driven to their location to speak with them in person?

We cleaned your CCD, sent you the camera back, and then refunded your money.

So far so good
September 3, 2010

So far so good. I sent two cameras in for repair at one time. One camera was just too old and busted. It was not repaired. The other, a G9, was sent back to me. Thomas thought I would be better off sending the camera to Canon for repair. I have to say that Thomas Drayton - Darn Toothy Sam, have been honest, straight forward, and very clear with all of my questions and I will continue to use them for future work that I may need. Thank You, Matt Seefeldt.

Matt is a professional photographer that lives in Minneapolis and has stopped by a couple times with cameras for us to repair for him.

His old Canon S410 wasn't worth repairing due to the multiple problems and the Canon G9 needed a lens replacement. Canon will replace the lens for less than they will sell it to me, so I referred him to Canon directly. I made no money from Matt for these two cameras, though if I was dishonest I probably could have tried to!

Ask Matt how dishonest I am if you have any doubts about us.
