No issues with the service or quality of repair. The digital camera works great and I could not be happier, however, they need to be more responsive to emails requesting information on repair status.

Vlad, your order was cancelled and refunded as soon as we received your email asking for the refund. I answer the phone myself all day long and we answer dozens of emails every day.

I had sent my Sony DSLR in for repairs for a cracked LCD screen. I chose this company because they had it in black and white on their website that your cameras will be returned 7-10 business days. With a trip to the coast only 3 weeks away, i was confident that this was the best option for me and my situation. I sent my camera to them on the 16th of September. On the 19th I received notification via email that the camera was received and was awaiting repair. With no more updates, i sent an email on the 24th just to check on the progress. By Monday, I had still not received a response so I spent the day calling both their toll free number and the local number to try and reach someone, along with several other emails with "URGENT" in the title. Finally by the 27th I was able to reach Thomas through their local number after calling 17 times in a 24 hour period. He checked my order # and said the part had been received the day prior and it was to be fixed that day. I didn't trust that it would get to my doorstep in time for our vacation so I requested he overnight and bill me the difference (I had hoped that after explaining and apologizing for the trouble contacting them, he would cover that charge but he didn't offer). I got an email later that night saying it had been fixed and another 30 minutes later saying it had been shipped. It showed up on my doorstep this afternoon in perfect working condition. I am pleased with the SERVICES but not customer service. My only suggestion is that if they are having this many complaints from people not being able to reach them regarding their cameras (which are typically very expensive and some may use for their own business) they need to think about hiring someone to sit at the computer JUST to answer any emails or return calls to their customers. I don't think people would mind the time it takes them to do the repairs, if they were at least able to get some answers and reassurance that there are people there doing what they say they're doing. Hopefully, I can keep my camera out of trouble and won't need any service done to it in the near future, but if I should need something done, I can't say I wouldn't do business with this company again- as long as I'm not in a hurry.

It was so easy to tell from your website that I was ordering the proper screws for my camera. I received them quickly and appreciate this site. I googled the name of my camera and the word screws. Your site was listed saying, "If you are missing the screws in your camera, you are not alone!" Very cool site. Thank you.

They do take their time to repair your camera but they have great customer service. I read all the negative reviews for their company but somehow took the risk and sent my camera for repair and I am very pleased with their service and great customer service.
Lets not forget that these kind of works will take time.
Thank you Thomas Drayton.

I ordered a battery door for my camera a long time past now. The part never came and I have called so much and just get the voicemail telling me they are too busy so do not leave a message. I have emailed and all of my emails go unanswered. They just ignore me and they want to keep my money. I'm going to call my bank tomorrow and see if it can be disputed. Today I went to the sure to check my order status and all I got was a warning from google that the website was not safe to go to. It was saying that his site transmits some sort of badware or something like that. I should have listened to google and stayed away from darntoothysam.com, nit my computer is totally infected with a virus or whatever his site sends out. I researched the virus that I got from darntoothysam and it hijacks the computer and sends ny personal information out without me knowing. I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH, DARNTOOTHYSAM IS JUST HORRIBLE. All this over a battery door formy camera.

Jim, I'm sorry you're unhappy with your purchase, if you tell me your order # I will be happy to get your door to you. I searched for "Jim S" and "James S" in our order history, but there are none that are waiting for a battery door. I have a "James Sh..." in PA (order #12094) that ordered a memory card door and received it on Aug. 30th, but that is as close as I can find.

I answer all the calls here myself all day, if you get voicemail or busy signal I am away from the phone or on the phone with another customer.

The problem with the website yesterday was that THOUSANDS of websites hosted on GoDaddy.com and had Wordpress Blog software installed were hacked. The hack was redirecting people to another website that has nothing to do with us. Once we found out about the problem we deleted the code, had the website scanned and Google cleared us and removed the warning from our website.

No customer information was compromised, and no viruses or other harmful programs were sent to anyone from our website. I'm sorry if you were affected by it, but we didn't do anything to cause it to happen.

As I said before, please let me know your order number and I will be happy to send you the door.

I sent my Canon SD750 to darntoothysam.com on 27 Aug. For a lens barrier shutter flaps repair. I got it back on 08 Sep. The service was good and timely. I would have been happier to know that he received it, but the camera came back before I got too worried.

Hi Jack, sorry for not sending you an update when we received your camera. We opened the package and I kept it on my desk and did the repair the next day. We normally log them in and put them in a bin while waiting to get them in line to be repaired. I knew we had the parts and I could do your repair quickly, so I took care of it and shipped back as quickly as I could.

DarnToothySam replaced LCD in Canon camera for about $70 bucks and they had it back to me in 2 weeks. Full story: I did send an e-mail query first which was not answered, then called; Tom answered, told me the repair price listed on web site was too high, and he was about to lower it by about $30 (huh?). He did. Best Buy said it would cost over $200 to replace and I should just buy a new camera. I guess maybe they can work on their communication, but this is a small business and I for one am willing to cut people slack. I read the negative reviews on sitejabber first–most of which sounded to me like the same psycho posting over and over–and found the MANY positive reviews more persuasive. I was not wrong. Would not hesitate to send my camera in again (if I drop it again!).

I needed the shutter release button on my Sony DSC-H2 replaced--the camera was fine other than the broken shutter button, which happens a lot with this model. DarntoothySam acted completely as they said they would -- I shipped the camera out, got it back in about two weeks (Labor Day weekend was in there) and it's good as new! Actually *better*, since the part is now lifetime-warranted aluminum rather than the cheap OEM plastic that broke. Thank you so much for helping us save money and keeping another camera out of the landfill!

I sent my Canon SD790 IS in for a lens cap/shutter flap repair. I was told that the repair would be done quickly and it would be shipped out promptly. Unfortunately, a mistake was made and my camera was lost. However, the owner of the site kept open communication, apologized, and pledged to replace my camera. I have just received the replacement in the mail. It was very securely wrapped in bubble wrap and shipping peanuts. I've put it through a few basic tests and all seems to be working well. I am totally satisfied with the outcome, though I would of course liked to have my original camera back. I do not feel I was scammed. Mistakes happen, but in this case, it was handled politely and professionally--and I really appreciate that!

Thank you for your understanding Melissa... I just wish the person we shipped your camera to by accident would have returned it to us. I took responsibility for the mistake and bought you a replacement out of my own pocket, and I'm glad you were happy with the final outcome.

All I know is I bought an electronic dc-dc board for my broken Canon G9. I swapped out the bad part for the new one and I have a working camera again. I'm very happy for the part at a good price. The part came via us mail in a reasonable amount of time and I got an e-mail when they send it. I'm quite happy.

Hey Thomas, I have sent multiple requests for when my part will be here. I see that you request an order number to make sure we are real. It is #*******. PLEASE respond to my emails or refund my $$. I hope you have been reading online reviews from me and telling you that I plan on stopping by your house to see why you haven't responded to anything I have sent you. I have only heard from "Alex" when I was verifying my sending address within two days and have heard nothing since? If you have to special order the OEM part, at least give updates on the progress and don't leave people without proper follow-up. Think twice before you try and screw another person that lives 15 minutes away from you!

Hi Mike, you may stop by our location at any time, we have customers dropping off cameras pretty much every day. No I haven't read any online reviews from you or anyone else anywhere other than here; it's a waste of my time.

Were you possibly threatening us in some way? I hope not; as the police take those sorts of actions very seriously and will respond to them accordingly.

For some reason your part was greatly delayed, sorry. I see by the tracking number from our supplier that it was processed in St. Paul on Saturday, so we will have it here Monday. We will ship it to you Monday, and you will have it Tuesday.

Alex spends most of the day here repairing cameras and doing shipping. He also has been given the task of answering all emails at the [email protected] address. He took a few days off for summer vacation, which many people do, and so we are very far behind in emails at this time. I am going to start answering emails at night as well to try and get us caught up, we get a lot of emails.

There is nothing for me to "think twice" about Mike, as I have never stolen anything from anyone.

I cannot speak highly enough about Thomas and Darn Toothy Sam and the great customer service I received! I ordered some Canon screws from his shop earlier this month and I needed the order to be replaced. He did it the very day I called and gave me such a good deal! I was so appreciative of his help. He's a really nice, down to earth guy running a small, honest shop in Minnesota! Thanks again Thomas, I'll definitely look to you for more help in the future! -Jessica

After ordering a part, I made several attempts to contact them for the status of where the part was. They did not respond until I indicated that I would be contacting my credit card company and the site they advertised on. Then they sent the item, but back-dated when it was sent.

When I received the part, it was defective. They never responded to my attempts to contact them for a refund.

Darntoothysam.com sucks. I've ordered LCD screen protector for Canon 1Ds on 8/8/2011, paid the same day with PayPal. I've not heard from DTS for 10 days. I've sent them 2 emails asking when item will be shipped, no response.
On 8/18 I've filed PayPal dispute. Still no answer. So, today, on 8/19, I've escalated dispute to a claim. PayPal refunded me within 1 hour. Amazing, usually it takes day or two. It means they have a lot of issues with DTS and they are used to refunding his customers.
I don't know about how DTS fixes cameras, but they have worst customer service. No communication whatsoever. They wasted 10 days of my time because they did not have the product they sold me. I could have ordered that screen protector from any other website and have it delivered in 48 hours, because of them, I still don't have it.
Oh, and I've read through SiteJabbes's reviews, so I know that Thomas will be saying this is all not true, asking for order number and so on. Here it is: #*******, and my name is Martin Gora.

I sent in my daughters camera about a month ago, because she had dropped it and the lens wouldn't go back in. They told me they could fix it for about $55.00. I sent the camera to them, and they sent it back within a few weeks---and it works PERFECT :) Ihad a great experience with DarnToothySam, and would recommend them to anyone looking for good camera repair. They saved us alot of money by not having to buy a new camera. Thanks for doing such a great job at a very reasonable price :)

Robert, we emailed you automatically the day we received your camera and I sent you an email myself today BEFORE you wrote this review!

You responded to the email I sent you today about an hour ago, so why the negative review?

I'm hoping to have your camera repaired tomorrow, early next week at the latest. When you receive your camera back I would appreciate if you would contact [email protected] to change your review rating.

So where's my part Thomas? I am tired of your stories. First you tell me sorry and that you forgot to order it. Then you told me they arrived broken. Then they were on backorder with the supplier but they be in next week, that was months ago I might add. Then they came in broken again. Oops you must have forgotten that you gave me that story months before. Then they really did arrive and supposedly you sent it but it must have gotten lost in the mail and you'd send it again. How do you keep up with the lies?

Anyone can go on to google.com and just type in: darntoothysam scam

There are sites everywhere on you. You even kept a guys camera for so long and then eventually gave it back with a used screen when you realized you weren't going to be able to keep it but he paid you for a new screen. You can keep my money, the camera was donated without the battery door.

Anyone who has lost money to him, you can just let your credit card company know and they'll can get your money back if you got taken by this guy.

John, I don't know who you are or what your order is so I can't possibly answer your questions. Sounds like you are waiting for an LCD screen, but there's no way for me to know without telling me your order number.

No one has ever lost money to me, I have never stolen anything from anyone.

The "used screen" person you are referring to, I'm tired of explaining. His Sony DSLR-A350 has a window over the LCD. He paid us to repair the LCD so we did. He didn't pay for us to replace the window, nor was it damaged enough to cause any problems, nor is replacing the window included with the LCD repair. We replaced his broken LCD with a brand new one and sent his camera back. That is all.

If you want to tell me your order number, I will be happy to cancel your order and refund your money.

Thomas. It's been over 40 days since my Order #******* Date: 28th Jun 2011. All I gotten is: "Back order from supplier", "parts arrived broken", "got the chrome 'base' section but run out of the aluminum repair kits", "will have them in stock next week and will ship out right away" (and two weeks later still nothing). This is not what I paid for. Please, either send the part ordered and paid for, or credit my account. Thanks for trying.

No problem, your order has been cancelled and refunded. You won't find this part made out of aluminum anywhere else in the world, but Sony does have the same plastic one that already broke for the same price. Sorry for trying to get you an aluminum shutter button that will never break again.

I'd just like to echo what others have written here about the slow responses... or more like NO responses. I ordered a part from my camera, and I was told it could be a week. It's been longer than that, and my inquiries to find out when it might be shipped have gone unanswered. Phone calls go to a recording that says voicemails can't be taken and that customers should send emails. On the recordings, this guy says it's a "small camera shop", but if the volume of calls and emails are so great, he should perhaps hire someone to field those for him. On the off chance that he will respond to this (as I see he's done in the past for other negative posts), my order number to him is *******. I just want to know when my part will be sent... you've already got my money, Thomas, and now there is no way for me to contact you. You SAY your business isn't a scam, but there seems to be an awful lot of similar complaints... perhaps THIS is why the BBB revoked its accreditation. Should I not hear anything, I guess my next action will be file a complaint with the AG of Minnesota, my home state of Virginia, and the Justice Department, as this involves interstate commerce. I think a large part of your complaints, Thomas, would be solved if you responded timely to your customers, don't you think?

Hi Randall

Sorry about the problem with your order, it has been cancelled and refunded. The part was on backorder and taking extra time to arrive, it happens with every business that sells things.

I answer all phone calls here myself as best I can. I can't afford a call center in another country because I don't charge enough money. If I'm talking with a customer then EVERYBODY else gets voicemail or a busy signal. I speak with many people every day.

One of my repair techs answers emails every day as well as repairing cameras. We have one email from you yesterday, and one today, no others.

The BBB "revoked" my accreditation because I didn't pay $600 to be a member after my membership expired. The BBB is nothing but a company that charges other companies to register complaints. The BBB has no power, and can do nothing for anyone, all they want is money from other businesses.

http://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.thebbb.org

By the way, the Canon Repair Dept has an "F" BBB rating and is not accredited and the Sony Repair Dept has an "F" BBB rating and is not accredited. Are they scams too? Think they care what the BBB says?

You may file a complaint with anyone you like, that's your prerogative. I'm sorry that this has caused you such distress.

Thomas
