OUR EXPERIENCE WITH DARNTOOTHYSAM HAS BEEN AN ALL OUT NIGHTMARE.

WE CALLED AND SOMEHOW HE ANSWERED. WE FELL FOR IT BECAUSE HE SOUNDED CONVINCING.

HE HAS NOT HAD OUR CAMERA FOR EIGHT VERY LONG MONTHS AND WON'T RESPOND TO CALLS OR MESSAGES OR EMAILS.

GIVE US BACK OUR CAMERA AND OUR MONEY. YOU MAY HAVE GOTTEN US BUT OUR STORY WILL HELP OTHERS ABOUT THINKING BEFORE PAYING YOU MONEY OR SENDING YOU THEIR STUFF.

GIVE BACK MY CAMERA AND MY MONEY THOMAS DRAYTON! MY WIFE SUSPECTED YOU WERE NO GOOD FROM THE START. I REGRET NOT LISTENING TO HER THIS ONCE. NOW MY CAMERA IS GONE AND SO IS MY HARD EARNED MONEY. WARNING TO EVERYONE, THIS IS A SCAM!

This man was rather untruthful to us. He was also unreliable. We sent him a G9 some time ago and he never fixed it as he claimed he would for under $100 His story was that it need a computer board that was too expensive for him to do it for that price. We had a screw that dislodged somewhere in the camera and short circuited the power. So even though he advertised to fix it for his price, in the end he did not. We couldn't even get him to send it back because he doesn't answer his phone when we call during the day. He eventually said he'd return it and that took months to happen. So we didn't pay and we got back the camera many months later. I found a place locally that fixes cameras and the guy that runs it has had his place for thirty years plus. He works on all makes and models and actually knows what he's doing unlike Thomas. I dropped my camera off on wednesday and I got a call today that they already looked at it and I should go in so I did. They showed me what Thomas did to my camera, it was ruined and they will not even work on it now. They showed me three parts that were switched and from another camera. A forth part has corrosion all over it which they said was from exposure to liquid. My camera has never been exposed to liquid and the funny thing was that none of any of the other parts had been exposed to liquid, just that one part. The guy said this was impossible to happen and said that this Thomas guy probably had something to do with it. Four major parts are now needed for my camera and a fifth needs to be fixed because the circuit board is scratched and damaged from what the technician believes was a screwdriver. Screw are missing everywhere in the camera and the technician said he handled parts of the inside of the camera that should only be touched with gloves. My new estimate is now $455 and he won't even work on it because of how bad Thomas destroyed the thing. I'm contacting my attorney, I read of another camera he hacked on someone. I don't know how else to say this, do nit send any camera to him since he clearly has no idea what is doing. I will be contacting my attorney.

William: I'm sorry you're not happy with your repair, but allow me to clarify a few things.

1- The "Canon G9 no power repair" listing is to have us replace the "DC/DC" board and find the screws that have fallen out and shorted out the camera. We did that, and the camera still would not power; that means the mainboard needs to be replaced. The difference between the two boards is $100, and the mainboard is not covered in the repair package you purchased.

It's like taking your car to the shop and paying them to do the brakes, then expecting them to replace your tires as well for the same price. Doesn't make sense.

2- WE DID NOT DO anything you say we did to damage your camera! We did not "switch" parts from your camera, we did not damage any parts of your camera, and we did not "expose to liquid" any parts of your camera. My Canon tech has been with me 6 years and is METICULOUS, he would never damage an internal component, and we would never "switch" any of your internal parts.

We did not destroy your camera, and we did not "hack" any other cameras either. Your comments are libelous, defamatory and completely untrue.

William has NOT had any attorney contact me, and I'm sure never will because we did nothing to him other than return his defective camera and money in full.

I ordered a replacement LCD screen for my 5D Mk II on 11/05/2010 and although I received an e-mail acknowledging receipt of my order (No. *******) my order was never shipped. I called several times but was not able to speak to anyone, nor was any explanation for the delay in shipment available on the website. I have received no response to my e-mails requesting cancellation of my order. Because of the absence of any explanation concerning the shipment and the failure to cancel my order, I suspect that I have been scammed by this website. Diane Swift

Hi Diane sorry about the problems with your order but I have already cancelled and refunded it for you. By the way, you purchased the window for the LCD, not the LCD itself it's about a $100 difference between the two parts.

We are a small shop; I answer the phone myself all day long Mon-Fri, so if you get voicemail or busy signal I'm on the phone with somebody else. I have one person helping me with emails, we get 50+ per day so it' s hard to keep up and I can't afford to pay somebody full time to do them at the prices I charge. I do now see that you sent two emails about 5 minutes asking for a refund.

Your part was on backorder and I would have been able to ship it tomorrow and would have sent you automatic emails at that time as well. We are working on getting better at keeping customers informed if their parts are on backorder.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but you were not scammed and you have already been refunded.

I ordered a screen to replace my Sony screen that cracked. It took a little longer than expected to receive it but once I did I was pretty satisfied. I was able to install the screen myself and am enjoying my camera again. Ordering the screen and finding a youtube video to help show how to install it saved me 2/3rds of the price. I am excited I found a place that would sell me the part without making me have them do the labor.

Hi Katy, thank you for taking the time to let others know you were happy with our service! I do apologize for the delay with your part, I am trying to get our stock updated more quickly when we run out. We are happy to supply people with the parts to do their own repairs, and we don't charge $100 to install a part if you do want us to do it for you!

I sent my camera in on Oct. 31 and received it back on Nov. 11 fixed and works perfectly. I also received emails during the time it was being repaired giving me an update on the status and when it was finished and mailed back out. I can't complain about my experience. I was very happy.

I have read a lot of negative reviews about darntoothysam.com, and am pretty shocked. My experience was FANTASTIC! Before buying the package to fix my Canon PowerShot SD600, I was told (via long-distance phone call) how long it would take, what may cause a delay in getting the camera back, what may also be needed to be replaced in addition to what I am paying for and how much anything extra would cost as far as parts and labor. I packaged the camera as per the instructions I was given, sent it off, and I got the camera back in a timely fashion. The work that has been done to it is top-notch, and I was NEVER under the impression that this business is (or ever was) a scam. I hope that I don't have to get a camera repaired again, but if I do, I will certainly use darntoothysam.com. And, to those people who complained that darntoothysam.com said that they didn't receive your camera, or that it was "lost in the mail," I find it hard to believe that somebody would ship ANYTHING that costs over 50 or 60 bucks (let alone a camera worth several hundred) and NOT pay the extra couple of bucks for delivery confirmation and insurance. If you want somebody to blame, go look in the mirror.

I purchased the Sony DSC-H2 shutter button repair part from this seller, because they offered something that no one else did - a metal button instead of plastic, that won't break. While I did receive the part about a month after ordering it, and it meets description perfectly, service is generally slow, and communication is non-existent. I paid $40 for this teeny-tiny little part. When communications are so easy and cheap, I can see no real reason that communications shouldn't be done, and that I shouldn't get some communication at the price paid for my item. The seller makes the excuse that he doesn't have time for communications. Understood, but he cannot expect to get repeat business, or referrals, that way. Communications are a business reality.

Sorry for the delay with your order Marcus, our manufacturer hasn't been keeping enough shutter buttons in stock for us to keep up with the demand. I answer the phone myself all day long, and I have part time help with emails. I do try and keep up with emails but we get 50-100 each day so it can be tough.

The part you purchased is $40 because we have to buy the "base" section from Sony, then break off their worthless plastic button (the one that already broke in your camera) and replace it with our aluminum one. The repair kit without the base is $20 cheaper because it costs us $20 less. We don't make more profit on that part than we do on the $20 cheaper item.

Excellent and acurate repair of the digital camera I accidentaly drop kicked. Very reasonable pricing for repairs probably not available elsewhere. Because each repair for them is specific and must be fully analyized, patience is a small price to pay for this fine, competent work. I'll definately use them again.

WARNING
November 2, 2011

WARNING. Don't send your camera to darntoothysam, it's way too risky in my book! I lost a nice camera to him and got a lot of empty promises but nothing delivered.

He was FULL OF EXCUSES when we called, no camera, our money gone, it's a flat out SCAM! We had to call a different times for months and after probably over a hundred calls (possibly more than that) we got him to answe one time! He pretended he couldn't hear my husband (childish). Mire empty promises and mire months have passed and NOTHING HAS COME BACK! We called visa who claims we are too late to do a dispute now.

If you've got a camera at his house (it's nit an actual business address), get ahold of your bank or paypal FAST! They can do a dispute which holds the payment until your camera comes back or he responds. They can then release the funds back to him if you tell them to, it's called a dispute and every credit card company can do it, even paypal. By waiting too long, that privelage is then lost.

I'm so disgusted we have to go out and buy a new camera now. I wish we had read these reviews before we sent him our camera and money!

AN, if you have a problem with our service please let me know who you actually are and I will help you. There's no way for me to know who you are by "AN" and no order number or anything.

YES I run the business from my home. Why is that a problem? Did you know Amazon.com, Microsoft and Harley Davidson all started from somebodies home?

My toll free # has been acting up and I sometimes don't hear the person when I answer so I hang up after a few seconds. At no time was I childish or hanging up on you.

What is your name? What is your order number? If you tell me I'd be happy to help you.

Just ridiculous
October 31, 2011

Just ridiculous. I was told my camera would be fixed within a couple of weeks of it being received and its been a month now. I would not be complaining, except i had talked to the owner who said he was ordering the part as we spoke (lies) and it would be at their store that week and sent out also that week or early the next. Now they no longer answer the phones, i call everyday at various times, and email them also. No response and i definitely feel robbed. I could care less that he says they are not stealing. WHAT IS IT CALLED when you receive something from someone, say you'll fix it by a certain time, and then ignore their concerns when you dont?! AND I AM A REAL PERSON in case you're wondering, you can contact me on FACEBOOK (THOMAS- since you said we're all fake) by searching Patricia Jetton. Go ahead. I will be contacting BBB if i do not receive my camera this week. I don't care if its still unfixed just GIVE IT BACK ALREADY!

Patricia: I have already refunded your money and sent you camera back to you with the shipping information. www.usps.com 9410810200882191586810

Your Sony TX100 has an LCD we've never had before and ordered it specially for you, exactly as I said I did. Our supplier is out of stock and said they were getting more in soon, I still haven't gotten it in yet from them, I can't control that I'm sorry.

I answer the phone myself all day long. I can't afford to pay for a call center in Mexico, but Sony can because they charge such high prices. I also have one person that helps part time with answering emails, we are trying to stay caught up as best we can.

At no time did I say all bad reviews are fake, I said how am I supposed to know if you don't use your real name or tell me your order number?

We did nothing to you other than be hard to reach sometimes and have a part that is on backorder.

I sent in my Panasonic camera for a screen replacement which took some time apparently the part was not ordered due to the oversight of the work order. After a few e-mails and phone calls it was confirmed that the part was ordered and the camera would be fixed. It was a considerable wait time and after reading all the "scam" reviews I was getting concerned being an out of country order, I am in Canada. So I sent a final e-mail thinking that the camera was gone due to the long wait but was assured that the camera was fixed and sent. Three days later I recieved it in the mail in working condition, fixed but with a couple of small scratches on the new screen. If you are not in a hurry for your camera and are willing to wait the price of repair could not be beat and I can attest that the site is no a scam... not in my case.

I found this company by googling repair for the shutter button for our Sony camera. They were awesome to work with an very helpful, upfront and honest. Thomas is very professional and great to work with. I called 5 different local shops and they either wanted a lot more $ (2-3 times as much) or would not even offer repair for this VERY common problem. Not only do they repair/fix for the problem, they also guarantee their work and the part. I will definitely call Thomas and DarnToothySam if I need anything else repaired. Thanks again!

I ordered a new LCD screen for my Canon S80 powershot from the website a while ago. Living in Canada, I expeceted somewhat of a wait for my screen. I found the ordering process very easy in the website. It took longer to receive my part than what I thought it would. After inquiring about it with Thomas, I was assured that it was in the mail. I found the customer service by Thomas to be excellent and my part arrived this past Friday. It took roughly a month or more from the time i ordered to receive it, and it was "as promised" in every regard. For those of you still waiting, be patient, your part will arrive. I think I received excellent value and customer service from darntoothysam and would be happy to order from them again when the need arises.

I was quite surprised to read the negative reviews on this website, particularly since I had a very normal and excellent experience with this company. I dropped my Canon S95 and broke the screen. I purchased the screen replacement on the website. I sent the camera via Priority Mail and delivery confirmation (which I do for all my valuables in the mail) the next day. I received an email telling me the camera had arrived. I received an email telling me the camera had been repaired and was being sent back to me. I received the camera (via priority mail with signature confirmation), and it worked great. The entire process took from 9/30 to 10/17, about 2 1/2 weeks. Although this was slightly longer than the 2 weeks I expected, the total experience was great. I would recommend this company.
