Ordering contact lenses from clearly has always been a simple and fast experience.
I generally get the occasional email from Clearly asking me to leave a review of the website. This time I got an email with a much more business-like subject heading: "Clearly Delivery Confirmation [Response Requested]"
You see that end bit in the brackets!? So serious!
So obviously I was like "oh was there a problem with a past order?" So I open the email, and they're asking me to confirm that I received my most recent order (which was like a couple months ago by the way so like... I dunno it's been a while this just seems weird). Regardless, I select the option that says yes, I have received my order thank you. And it takes me here! To this page that I am on right now! Asking me to leave a 1-5 star review with written details! Just like all the other emails from Clearly, badgering me to review their website. Except this one was a trick! What the hell Clearly. Don't trick me into reviewing your dang website. Also, why do you think tricking people into reviewing you is going to foster positive feelings about your brand and lead to good reviews?
You used such serious business language! "Response Requested"? Seriously? This is at best, very bossy! And at worst an act of chicanery using serious transactional business language to hornswoggle customers into leaving reviews they would not have otherwise left! Also, it is very annoying!
I highly recommend you consider bothering your customers a little less.

My wife and I each had our first shopping experience with Clearly and were delighted. Our glasses were delivered on time and we're ecstatic with the fit and comfort of the frames. What can I say but Wow! I ordered contact lenses and received the standard email describing the time frame for delivery. Imagine my delight & surprise when my contacts were at my door within 24 hours. Great service, great product!

I was very pleased with time delivery time, but not totally happy with the glasses. My previous pair had spring loaded arms, and I really wish I had ordered a pair with them. These are a little tight on me, plus i am having trouble getting them adjusted for me. I am scared to try and bend the nose pieces too much in case i break them. Is there some kind of directions on how to adjust them without breaking them?

I got a box, it had everything I needed in it, as well as some gummy bears, inexplicably. No complaints.
Purchased prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses. Both fit really well and the prescription was filled perfectly on both. This was my first purchase off clearly after a recommendation from a friend. I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend to a friend.
I have used Clearly for many years now, and would not change. Love the glasses the prices and there service! It really is an easy site to follow! My husband and I have just had 6 pairs of glasses, progressive, readers and distance, all are amazing fashionable and very low priced. Perfect styles and fit, would not shop anywhere else!
The frames were exactly as shown in the pictures. I like them on my face. My prescription is as I ordered it. The lens in the left eye arrived slightly 'damaged' or the film was not applied correctly. Near the nose piece and the lower left corner of the lenses the glass looks broken, but does not affect my vision. I did not notify Clearly of the minor error. I was just glad to get affordable glasses during a pandemic. Thank you, Clearly. I look forward to buying more.

Answer: Hi Dan - what you're seeing is the pre-authorization hold being taken and released so we can actually take the payment upon shipping out. On a regular credit card this is pretty invisible (a pending payment becomes an actual charge), but because the only way to apply a pre-authorized hold of funds on a credit-debit is to have the processor remove them from the bank balance and hold them between your account and Clearly's, it looks more like a charge, refund, charge. In either case, Clearly only receives the funds the one time once the order ships out!
Answer: Oh no! We're truly sorry to hear about this and apologize for the late reply. If the prescription is correct, one more piece of information you want to verify is the PD (Pupillary Distance), as it is not always showing on the prescription. If it is not, and the PD is showing 63mm (or 31.5/31.5) on our receipt, this means the PD by default may have been entered when placing the order. This measurement is important as it allows us to cut and place the lenses in the frame in order for your eyes to focus right at the middle of the lens, to ensure comfortable and perfect vision. If the PD was incorrect, or if you're experiencing eye strain despite a correct PD, please contact our customer service team at 1-866-414-2326, or via chat or email through our website with your order information. We'd love the chance for them to trouble-shoot the issue and help with any adjustment if necessary. - SH

We watch for delivery confirmations, but sometimes what a courier confirms isn't what a customer experiences, so we're careful to make sure the product is definitively in the customer's hands. But we certainly don't benefit from the request for a review being a surprise component (your review is evidence enough of that!)--and we'll pass on your feedback to the team to assess how that subject line is presented. While we mention in the body of the email to "click below to let our team know your order arrived and share any thoughts on how it all went", we want it to be clear that sharing thoughts is a big part of why we're emailing!
