Citydata.com used to be a helpful site when I joined in 2013. The forums were a great way to hear insight from locals who would answer questions and give advice. I recently started frequenting citydata.com again to find out more about a location we were moving to, and was shocked.

Right wing extremists have taken over the site and are allowed to post lies and conspiracy theories with no restrictions. They routinely insult "liberals: and Lefties" accusing them of doing the very things that the GOP an the alt-right are guilty of. They will not acknowledge the truth, even when you provide irrefutable documented proof that they are wrong.

I was banned for life with no warning and labeled a troll, like many others here. The management and moderators have drunk the Koolaid as well apparently, because members in good standing include those who post conspiracy theories and who engage in blatant projection. There is no point in trying to debate or discuss an issue, and it doesn't matter if you avoid the politics section of the forums.

The rules don't matter, and these racists are allowed to roam at will, spreading their lies and hate like Johnny Appleseed, hoping for a bumper crop of idiots like themselves. There is obvious influence by anti-American actors who use this site to spread disinformation in order to undermine our democracy. The origins of this deceit should be investigated like any other act of espionage.

City data forum is for extremist conspiracy theorists Trumpers. The members are so out there that it almost seems like a satire site like the Onion. Sadly it's not. Bunch of backwards ignorant bigots. Don't waste your time, anyone who isn't a wacko Trumper will get banned.

Yes, that's right. The poster ended his post with "88", which is code for the 8th letter of the alphabet, which is "H". I reported the post and was given a lifetime ban. That should tell you all you need to know.

Some of the local boards are have decent info, but it's overwhelming right-wing. Mods give all kinds of latitude to conservatives, but they will squash people of the left who push back. Loudest voices are always far right. It's a joke that some people are saying it's liberal. Maybe a few local board, IDK, but it's overwhelmingly right wing.

Just a terrible website. It's a gathering place for alt-right Trump worshippers. The owners of the site are somewhere in a former Soviet-bloc territory, so it's no surprise they tend to authoritarianism.

The site is heavily moderated. Posts are automatically reviewed, and they might not get posted, depending on how the moderator feels. And those moderators like their little taste of power. Your posts can be randomly deleted, and you can get infractions (restricted from posting) or banned for no apparent reason.

This place is a joke anymore. You cant have a different opinion from other posters. The either 30 and under moderators who dont know their butt from a hole in the ground or the granny moderators who are really hands off ban for the least little thing. Open forum? Not hardly. Some of those mods are real biotches Chain smokers, soap opera watching hypocrites. Ban me? Yeah they banned me forever Thank God because I can see this piece of trash forum going down in flames soon. I wondered what happened to all the good members they left and now I see why. I m going to dance when I see the forum is gone.

The posts and the comments on City Data are very racist. If I were to take a guess it's mostly older white Trump voters living in the middle of nowhere. Go to any city post (especially Chicago) and you will see people posting that never lived there. Trying to speak from a place of experience. The other odd thing is it is the same people responding to any thread. For example, I've seen gay people ask if some area is gay friendly and here comes the 3 same grandpas chiming in. You can tell by their comments they're not exactly in 2021. Any random crime that happens they come on there like a kid that found a new toy. It's disgusting.

Why are these old racists spending all day writing nonsense? Some of them post all day! I'd say they should visit their grandkids but something tells me they were cut out due to toxicity. I've been considering three cities for relo and I also noticed some of these people post in several different city forums. It is very weird.

Also, the website looks like it was last updated in 2001. That should be your first hint to go look elsewhere. I thought I'd never say this but Reddit is a much better source.

Sure, there are some fringe racists from the right on that site, but I've seen as many if not more bigots from the left. The reason you see people here saying it's an alt-right site is because they are liberals who interpret everything that doesn't subscribe to the liberal narrative as being racist. (Example: explaining why you are opposed to CRT for your young children or saying that singing the Black National Anthem at every football game is divisive rather than unifying will get you called a white nationalist or a racist member of the KKK.)

That said, it is ridiculously moderated. The mods are given full authority to ban posters if they happen to disagree with a post, one where there are no insults, no bullying, no bad language, etc., and posts that lay out good arguments against liberal policies can disappear without warning as well.

City data forum is basically just a bunch of middle aged White rural conservatives who hate big cities and everything they represent, diversity, liberal policies, nightlife, dense neighborhoods, etc. Doesn't matter what city forum you go to, whether it's San Francisco, NYC, Chicago, the members post the same garbage, that city living sucks and paradise is in rural red states. Ok, then why the hell are they posting day in and day out on city forums they hate?

Coddles their resident trolls and the jingoism is off the charts. Stormfront substitute and proud of it.

Suppose to be a site to provide advice on different regions and various other topics. FAR FROM IT. Its basically a bunch adults behaving like pre-teens on a chat room. Florida and California Forums highlight this perfectly. Dont waste your time.

Exactly what the title says. The place is just full of a bunch of racist trolls and calling out that behavior will get you banned.

Currently the threads about the pandemic, COVID-19 and the vaccines are dominated by the ant-vax community. ( the anti-governmental types, the anti-science crowd & the Q type conspiracists) These prolific trolls post non-stop disinformation and misinformation and links to the anti-vax bad actors and agitators that have been debunked by credible and reputable science. They attack and assault knowledgeable posters who provide pushback and who are then suspended with their reasonable & logical posts deleted. CD has also become a forum for those actively agitating for harmful and dangerous violence.
IMO this site(CD) has become a R wing extremist social media outlet that supports terrorism and ideas that clearly are meant to undermine the USA.

City-data.com is an online cult. Their true purpose is thought policing for like minds. The forums are filled with parasitic (divorced) trolls who sometimes serve as moderators.

This is run like the GOP, it is a cult, you disagree with someone, you are banned for life. It has members that have nothing better to do than trash certain areas of the country. It has members that are in a clique, and if you do not fit their narrative you are gone. PATHETIC PLACE TO GIVE YOUR VIEWS.

I have been on and off this forum for a few years now. Every time I ask a question the response is poor. A blatant display of rather limited IQ. Despite how the question is written in clear English & detailed enough a teenager or younger could understand. That's the general forums.

Then you get into the actual "city" areas and it's just a bunch of vagabonds pretending that they actually live in these cities. They wish. I've lived in a few major cities in America and some of the posts relating to these cities it's like wth you've never lived there, you're googling information.

And politics. Bunch of inbred slackjaws beating their chests like gorillas & figuratively pissing in corners like dumb dogs saying America is my land, I get nowhere & contribute little to nothing to society but me own it.

I have to say, I've spent the last two days trying to find the moderators and ask why they ban me for life. I haven't found a way to contact them so all I can do is give an honest review of my experience. I wrote my opinions to others which were only about 5 posts before they ban me for life, without an explanation. I went to my account and it said across the page you are ban for trolling, the period of time before it will be lifted is NEVER. I had only opened my account on 4/28/21 and I was ban on 4/30/21. The only comments I saw were right wing Trumpers. I never said anything other than correcting what I felt was wrong information by these racists. During Biden's state of the union address they were using foul language about Pelosi and Kamala Harris so I corrected them by saying how immature they were appearing. I have no proof because I can't get hold of the moderators. I can't even find where to contact them. I'm, I guess, considered liberal but I find nothing wrong with that. I'm also a Wildlife biologist and veterinary technologist with 50 years experience. I don't know what these people are afraid of but it's clearly something. My first post was about my experience in Fort Worth Texas in 1978 at a dairy where an undocumented immigrant was killed by a white woman, and the dairy never turned it in. They just buried him in Weatherford Texas----his name was Ceverio. I don't know if that's why I was ban or not. I just don't know.
