If you express any kind of negative opinion/question about a city you will be banned. Defeats the entire purpose of a forum that used to be dedicated to discussing the pros and cons of a particular city.

The above makes the forum worthless, and not to be trusted as a resource when you are researching cities in which to move.

Shocked at the way this site is run. Shared the horrific experience of moving to Rochester MN and having our apartment filled with heavy meth fumes from an adjoining apartment. The police and city inspector, and, worse, the mayor refused to do anything, the doctors at Mayo Clinic and Olmsted refused to put it in documentation or test for it, and the apartment management at Technology Park Apartments covered up for all the drug activity they hosted rather than keeping it safe as the manager, Jacklyn Hill, says she does when talking to prospective clients. This place is so corrupt, so citydata.com banned me for saying what I experienced. That's relevant because I checked citydata.com before moving myself and my family here. The fact that they've banned other people who told the truth about Rochester means that they were on the side of the criminals that gave me what appears to doctors as lung cancer, though I have never smoked or stayed around second hand smoke. Now, for the first time, I have asthma and cataracts that I definitely did not have before this. If citydata.com had allowed honest reviews, my son and I would have been spared the cancer risks, loss of everything we owned other than our now very contaminated vehicle, and two years so far of income due to physical injuries. Both the city and the medical clinics here are tainted with corruption. Yes, there are some good people and good things about the city, but when people learn what happened to us, they don't seem at all surprised. If citydata.com masquerades as a source for valuable information about a city and what it's like to live there but censors negative truths by banning truthtellers, they are fraudulent.

The cesspool of the internet. This is where logic comes to die. Bunch of ignorant slackjawed racist rednecks. I feel dumber everytime I go on there and read a post. Utter waste of time. Don't bother. Zero useful information. I'll sum it up for you. Cities bad, liberals bad, immigrants bad, non whites bad, christians good, white good, conservatives good. That's every conversation.

If you're planning on moving to a different state city this site is pretty good there are of course thousands of people on the site and they will help you right and left.

There's work, psychology, personal experiences and non romantic problems stuff like that general things once you get into the politics well some people say it's right wing some people say it's left wing some people say the moderators are too heavy-handed some say they're not heavy-handed enough.

This is also really good is that you can direct mail a message to posters asking questions and probably I'd say 95% of them happily respond with good information and helpful suggestions.

The rest are mean nasty cranky and ignorant...

Moderators suspend posters who challenge climate change deniers. Does more need to be said?

Some moderators eliminate posts critical of politicians such as Ron DeSantis.

Other moderators eliminate posts that are factual but with which they disagree such as posts comparing their home city unfavorably with other cities.

All i did was say that trans rights in my country were under attack and i made a joke about beer that wasnt even right or left leaning and i got banned for being a "troll" permanently. No option to contact mods that doesnt show the same "you have been banned for the following reason" message. I tried emailing the site about my ban and got no response. I have no clue why this is the case, considering its a pretty conservative place and they claim to care a lot about "free speech". According to a lot of reviews here its full of racists as well so maybe my ban was for the best

Have strange moderators who gloat about how they volunteer to mod city data. I called out a poster for making incorrect/false statements and my replies were deleted. The moderator in the city-vs-city forum said it was because the conversation had ended but why are you leaving the other posts up then? Someone literally replied with a fact-based list calling out the other poster (which is the comment I replied to) and my reply to that post was even deleted even though all I said was "great list love to see facts brought in". And they wonder why the site is bleeding users and has dying subforums.

Mind you this moderator named MJLO (mjlo) sent me a curse world filled DM that I was able to forward to senior moderators before given a ban. City-Data, you want your site to compete with reddit, telegram, discord? Allow moderators who aren't emotional

The political forum is a r-wing disinformation machine filled with ignorant posters who are immune to facts and bereft of decency. Any dissenting moderate or liberal post ---even if it contains supporting documentation & links--- is trashed by "regulars" or removed by the moderators. It is a bully silo of hate & anger for those who are anti-women, anti-democracy, anti-education racists and xenophobes. I often wonder if it is funded by the NRA because any mention or discussion of commonsense gun reform or regulation is immediately shutdown and the poster mocked and then penalized for being a troll. White Christian Nationalism is promoted ad nauseum and many accounts are folks who appear to live on the forum at 12-hour intervals bullying those with opposing worldviews. Go up against them one too many times and one will be banned permanently. An ugly site whose frequent flyers wrap themselves in the American flag yet cheer the trampling of the Constitution. Terrorists, Trump & Tucker are revered as is any radical destructive person or position.

Reviewers pointed out, the white supremacist problem. Another one, is that you can't criticize big pharma, dentistry, science taught in schools and universities etc. (You get ridiculed, if you do).
But, the white supremacism tends to go with narrow-mindedness or anti-visionary mindset. Racists have low intelligence and massive egos. Narcissism.
Increasingly, over the years, political and racial stuff has crept into forums, of websites that weren't made for it. Politics and racism, are two of the most toxic, distracting, time-wasting things, to the human mind.

Left leaning posters have their post deleted if the post gets too many reps especially if its a sick burn on a right wing poster. The Politics forum seems like its purpose is to foment hate between Americans.

I posted my very first question in the politics forum: The topic was book banning and a few people groused that no one complains when leftists ban books. I asked what books the leftists banned. I got banned for life for being a troll. Wow! A member for 24 hours. What a colossal joke.

This USED TO be a very helpful site, back in the early days, for people hoping to find helpful advice and tips for relocation and travel. Unfortunately, it was taken over by people/moderators who worship at the church of Donald J Trump, and any negative comments about their messiah, are SWIFTLY met with bans. Proceed at your own risk.

The site isn't actually that bad for things that are not related to politics. However, the mods (especially Igibinne) might as well be mouthpieces for Trump or DeSantis. They've gone as far as deleting threads that go hard against far right Republicans. I had a thread that pointed out something pro Biden and got typical blow back from most of their users which at least in the Politics Forum are Right Wing Nut Jobs. However when my thread was locked they deleted my posts in the thread and said it was because of "trolling" but left one in the thread where the poster used terms like "race pimps".

The mods of CD seem like teenagers drunk on power. They will ban you forever for anything. There are much better forums out there.

A lot of the posters who seemed to be in good standing with the forum and the community are suddenly "Not a member". I mean those people were in good standing last time I checked. Now, I got some unfair infractions because of a moderator who had/has it out for me. She decided to twist something I said and falsely accuse me. I thought I'd be one of those that are "not a member". After all, a lot of the other posters were quite irritated and tired of me...

It sure does seem like the City-Data of today is a lot different from City-Data of 10 or so years ago.

Gathering place for MAGA racists. Moderators who challenge their white supremacist views will be banned immediately. It's so far right and racist that it almost seems like a satire forum. Conspiracy theories that are really out there and outlandish that it's comical.

I just got a zero point warning on there for supposedly being rude to a moderator. However, said moderator was rude to me first in her reply to my thread. It's okay if she disagrees with me, but it wasn't okay in how she worded it. I guess being a moderator, a.ka. God, lets her get away with attacking posters, but the same can't be said in reverse.

Got banned. No warning or explanation and per their rules they can do this. I hope they go downhill like Twitter and Facebook. Buliies galore and zero done to them, but I get banned. Found out when I tried to sign in today.
