Moderation is arbitrary. Censorship rears its ugly head. A post had been flagged before offering to public. Cites negative reaction would be promulgated. Unless moderator of Elections is clairvoyant impossible for him to judge. I believe he flagged because he felt a negative impact to his thoughts on the upcoming PA election.

All the rumors are true. This is a meeting place for racist rednecks. Anyone who challenges the paranoid lunatic conspiracy theories is labeled a communist and immediately banned. Breeding ground for the most extreme elements of our society. Safe space for the most ignorant and uneducated dregs of society.

I signed up last week, and made 4 posts (all in one thread, and all on topic, which was Trump speech on Labor Day) and in one of them I called Trump a 'whiner', and was immediately banned for life. Reason = Trolling. Reading some other posters with thousands of posts, they are getting way with all kinds nastiness, but I guess that's ok because its in line with the overall bias of the board. Looks like its a place for Trump fans to go and vent out their anger.

Great site and free speech is allowed. Why do liberals hate free speech? Why not just go back to Reddit? Liberals made accounts just to give a bad review how pathetic.

The city-data political sub-forum ---as well as most of their forums increasingly over the years--- is rampant with radicalized Trump Republicanism and myriad posters who seem to be on a mission committed to the wholesale destruction of the United States' political order. These posters--- who wholeheartedly advocate against American democracy, our institutions and the rule of law--- belittle, lie about and threaten those of opposing views, and then are coddled by the moderators. Posters supplying facts and credible supporting documentation are suspended and their posts removed, and then warned in scathing private messages that if they persist the suspension will be a permanent ban... Truth and facts are considered trolling on city-data.com.
This website and its mods appear hell-bent on stifling and eradicating those who credibly and decently try to support & preserve U.S. democracy in posts that push back on the extremism and violent ideology that proliferates on city-data.com.

If you are thinking you are going to partake in an interesting forum with smart opinions, know you are in for dissapointment. It is a bunch of provincial folks talking about races, skin colors, most powerful armies, which cities are the coolest, country versus country, what place has the most attractive women and all that kind of topics.

It's unfortunate. I joined city-data to check on some potential states to consider moving to. I didn't find them particularly helpful but it was interesting.

As the seditious conspiracy continues in this country, I was attempting to post the truth about what's happening here. Such as carlson going to Hungary to do his fox "commentary". Then we saw CPAC go to Hungary and Orban (dictator) coming to the US. "Republicans" and CPAC embracing Orban, the autocrat as he turns that country into a minority-white christian nation. So, all I so is state fact. But it's bombarded with extreme, right-wing conspiracy theorists who are allowed to propagate lies. I did get knocked off as a troll while the pretty insane lying is allowed to continue.

So, thanks to Sitejabber, for allowing me to see that I'm not the only one out here who sees city-data allowing right-wing extremists to rant but conveniently blocks out the truth. What a country.

Not a pleasant place to be at all. The Politics & Controversies sub-forum is run by a moderator who goes by a name that begins with "I" and who runs the sub-forum like a little autocratic dictator who will ban you just for saying something innocuous that they don't like, but this person has no problem letting all sorts of horrible stuff from right-wingers through with no action. I was banned for "trolling" for 6 weeks just for making an innocent remark that I thought when the SC overturned Roe v Wade it would cause rioting. Stay away from this stupid place.

Entire site is filled with far right lunatics that post sexist, racist, and homophobic drivel left and right. The racism is barely even veiled, and very reminiscent of Stormfront in ideology. Conspiracy theories also heavily promoted.

I have to disagree with a lot of other peoples reviews stating that City Data is all conservative and Republican. Some of their moderators/admins must be the opposite of that.

I have been banned a few different occasions for reasons that are unclear. They just say I am a troll, a racist, or a racist troll. That is not "conservative" dialogue. It is progressive immature Liberal types.

All in all, it is a great format for a message board but the owners and site managers are childish at best.

Unsure why they allow long time posters to post as they wish and I am banned and labeled a racist troll or whatever it is they say.

Time to try Reddit instead.

This City-Data website is literally a cult! I was giving advice on how to improve people's profiles on Tinder using Photofeeler, and my account got permanently banned for "spam". Most of my threads got deleted, even the one asking to rate my dating app biography. This is a dictatorship. Westboro 2.0

I live in the state which protect my rights and they are breaking my rights because they are publishing information about me which is not allowed by the laws in my state. Furthermore, the information on their site is false and misleading and should be removed before litigation is filed.

I'm guessing at this point that only land/home owners are on that site... I found it originally searching for tenant problems, and while I got some useful answers, it seemed like most people were just belligerently telling me to stop complaining and shut up and just take the abuse. Now that I'm seeing the SiteJabber description and rating and reviews and questions and answers, I'm seeing that city-data is just a trash fire masquerading as a hugbox for abusive property owners.

I'm not really sure of another forum to post tenant issues, but city-data is the furthest thing from it. Reddit's a zillion times better even as hard as it can be to have a good all-around comment karma (due to people just not liking a comment even if it's just stating a flat demonstrable fact).

I've been blocked multiple times from city-data, and I can't even see why because I just get a private message notification email but anything in my account just gives me the generic error saying there's a problem with the account. How am I supposed to know what I did wrong if they block my access to view their admonishment?! They make zero sense to me now. So my search continues...

I first joined CD in 2007 when I was interested in travelling to other states and was looking for tips on best places to visit. It used to be brilliant, over the years this forum has slipped into a rabid pro Russia, pro MAGA and anti anything else disinformation hive. There is no space for healthy discussion or debate, the politics forum is particularly vicious and displays disgraceful behaviour with almost no moderation. When you point out something is false - no matter how politely - you are insulted into submission by an angry mob of around 20 prolific posters who seem to spend all day doing this to everyone. I am pretty sure it's only 3 or 4 people with multiple accounts as all comments are normally around 3-4 minutes apart and not remotely randomised, when you look at their profiles they are all "friended" - it's like some sort of conservative mafia that post multiple threads to ensure as many people see them as possible in order to spread their disinformation.
You will be called a democrat, an idiot, stupid, a member of ANTIFA or BLM. You will be accused of hating your country, of being a shill for Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden if you suggest that you will not vote republican. You will be accused of having TDS (Trump derangement syndrome) if you dare suggest that you disagree with any of the posters - even if it's not about Trump, it always ends up there. Nearly all threads end up with the prolific posters steering them towards 5 or 6 conspiracy theories. You can be on a thread about healthcare and it will end up being about something like the election.
Currently, disinformation is spreading on there like wildfire about the Ukrainian war. It's distressing to see a forum I really enjoyed go this way. I have logged out and will not be returning.
I doubt that City-Data sees these reviews, but on the off chance that they do, my advice would be to step-up. Sort out some proper and balanced moderation or you will be losing many more normal people and just be left with the crazies and the bots.

Long story short: Has an account for 12 years, last "infraction" 10 years ago. I pushed back against the Russian trolls and said "What Russia wants it irrelevant anyway, because it's a poor country". I got an infraction for this and couldn't post anmore then. 2 days later, with no new post from me obviously - I got banned for "trolling". Can't appeal this or anything. The "Senior mod" Yak is some old Polish man from Poland. The other one "Marka" is also Polish, I think. Then there are a couple of Polish mods who are all trash. If a mod dosen't like you, you get banned. Nothing you can do. The forum is not as busy as it used to, though. Some of the mods have been there for 12-15 years. They must be unemployed or something, as they spend ALL DAY on there - every day of the week. Just stay away from this forum.
BTW: I was banned by ElNina who is some old Polish woman from Poland.

I joined City-Data forums back in 2008 and it appears that I may have been permanently banned for life, finally now in 2022. Honestly, good riddance. From around 2008 to 2015, the forums were generally fun to participate in and there was a wide spectrum of opinions and viewpoints and somehow we ultimately got along. But ever since around 2015, the site started to become increasingly right wing and now in 2022 it's basically a right wing dictatorship. It's not just the Politics & Controversies forums only; it's EVERY forum and subforum. Literally every thread devolves into an explosive argument, going back and forth with ultra right wing members and there's no end to it. The problem is that it's balanced very much in favor of right wingers and they will EAT YOU ALIVE with their garbage conspiracies and always inject politics into EVERY discussion. It is insane.

The forums are more stressful to participate in than ever, because of the incessant right wing influence in every thread. Racism is RAMPANT and seems to go unchecked. Most of the members are racist, homophobic, xenophobic, misogynist, religious and bigoted in any way you can imagine. They love Trump. They absolutely love Ron DeSantis and it just permeates every thread.

The moderators are ruthless and unreasonable. I have been temporarily suspended MANY times for stupid crap or "trolling."

I feel liberated to have been banned and have NO intention of ever returning.

City data is a nothing more than a place where old white conservatives go to complain. Extremely negative. These old coots never have anything positive to say, even when Trump was President. Constant whining about something. If they aren't outraged about liberals than it's some racial/ethnic minority group or LGBTQ or Muslims or intellectuals or foreigners, etc. At least if they talked about their hoobies like bass fishing or driving their pickups it wouldn't be that negative but it's just constant complaining. It's draining to be honest. I have a Trumpie friend who is like this and I can't handle him for more than 10 minutes.

I basically said California has the highest GDP and pays the most Fed taxes, which subsidize poorer southern states. They banned me for trolling.
