Why doesn't cars.com post negative reviews about a dealer? I think their review ratings are not reliable if they only post positive reviews which are biased.
All results (regardless of the search criteria), come back with vehicles typically worth less than 40k dollars with "estimated value" of hundreds of thousands of dollars (I. E. a 2 year old silverado had an estimated value of 211,789!).
Bottom line is cars.com and its affiliated dealerships are unreliable. Dont waste your time.
I found the car I was looking for on Cars.com. It was priced well over the KBB value, so I called them and asked how flexible on price were they. The assured me the price was negotiable. I told them that it was two hours to get to their dealership and I did not want to drive that far for the price it was offered. Again I was told "everything is negotiable". Of course it wasn't when I got there. Tag, taxes and a whopping $700 dealer fee. Wasted 2 hours driving there and 2 hours back home.
I put a negative review on Cars.com about the dealership, because I had looked at the reviews before I went to the dealership and I was misled. I wanted others to know what to expect. It has NEVER shown up in the reviews section, leading me to believe that they are more worried about dealers than they are buyers and are selectively posting reviews in favor of dealers.
I actually purchased a new car through Cars.com and it was a good experience. The dealer was not as familiar with registration rules, etc., for Washington State, but other than that, the car arrived as promised and I was happy with the transaction. The local dealers just didn't have the car I wanted and so I thought I'd give it a try. The experience is highly dependent on the quality of the dealership, but in my case, it all worked out better than I was expecting. I was also surprised to see that dealers actually kept their listings current.

Having bought and sold numerous cars using this website i feel like it is fairly good in performing it's task.
Yep, if you're looking for an automobile, you must check out Cars.com.
Why? Because to be the most educated consumer prepared to pay a fair price for a good auto, you need great info... a lot of it!
That info is here. You can research any make of auto to your hearts content (with no pressure) as to what is available in your area. I promise... after a bit of research here, you'll know quite clearly what a fair price is for your new/used car will be.
Check it out...
This book contains very basic material on the operation of the car; it appears to be a decent read for teenagers looking to grasp the basic; but the more mature readers will find this very shallow. The text contains the fundaments of auto mechanics; it is split into seven chapters; and each chapter describes a major automotive system.
Like most online car search engines - cars.com search engine is awful. It will flood you with cars that don't match your criteria - even when it shows a match. They don't enforce any kind of seller standards, so sell descriptions are vague to almost non-existent - if not completely incorrect. I can't tell you the number of times I have tried to confirm particulars only to find that the cars.com seller's car really doesn't have the features advertised. Unless you're looking for a generic car with nothing particular in mind - cars.com, like autotrader and cars. Direct and carguru - is essentially a very big waste of time.
We've just found our second vehicle through Cars.com. It made the searching so easy. You can start with a broad general search, then narrow it down with choices including year, make, model, body style, transmission, interior and exterior color, etc. Then you can narrow the choices down from there. We tried several auto search websites, always come back to Cars.com. Good job.
The site is GOOD and I mean GOOD! I have now purchased my second car through Cars.com, they make it easy to search by price and mileage and everything else.
I have used AutoTrader.com and find Cars.com to be much better.
The key is to learn their search features and begin your quest for your new ride!
I have recommended them to many and I will continue to use Cars.com for my next vehicle. It sure beats trying to haggle with the local car guys, and there are so many to select from on this site. Finding a low mileage car for the right price is easy on here.
I recommend the site highly.
Just bought our second car through them! Excellent to search through, easy to find a great car at a great price!
Good place to compare basic info/prices on different model cars... unfortunately some of the listings don't say very much and just take you to a dealer's site... overall though its worth checking out for casual comparison.
I like this site for the information about different cars. I really use this site as a research tool.
Had only positive experience with cars.com although there many similar sites
Cars.com is very cool! But you must be a smart shopper. The site is like one giant dealer, some cars are total lemons when you get to see them in person, others are very good. One feature i love about cars.com is the research. You can find information on just about any vehicle you want. Very helpful shopping tool!
They cars are very reasonable, and they offer financing, even if you have bankruptcy, or bad credit. You can also check out Kingsautos.com $2500, down can get you a finance for a 2006 and under, with the bankruptcy, bad credit, and even if you have had repos. "good luck"
